Project Update As with previous phases, we’re encountering numerous unanticipated issues that we’re dealing with and attempting to overcome. Some issues are minor, others are impacting the schedule for each area. Our efforts now are to keep work moving forward while attempting to minimize the effects of the issues we’ve encountered. On a positive note, the Therapy Gym addition is nearing completion of enclosure and awaiting the start of Phase 4. Brad Frey, Senior Project Manager bradf@elzinga-volkers.com

Looking Ahead

SAFETY Matters Trips and Falls

Mike Roney, Field Manager miker@elzinga-volkers.com | 586-482-4102

With all the dangerous equipment, sharp materials and precarious heights that can be found on a construction site, you would probably be surprised to know that simple trips and falls are one of the most common onsite accidents. Small holes and uneven surfaces are unavoidable during the construction of a building, but proper precautions can help minimize their danger. All holes on a project site that are over 4” in diameter most be covered and marked with bold writing. Uneven surfaces can be temporarily leveled or traffic can be directed around them. Most importantly, daily clean up and housekeeping will keep the jobsite free of debris and loose materials. All these seemingly minor precautions can avoid serious injury!

In the next few weeks, we will be completing the interior finishes for the memory wing resident rooms and corresponding rooms. Installations of interior finishes will also be going on in the new entry addition. If we get an early spring exterior paving and landscaping will happen soon as well!

TEAM SPOTLIGHT Who’s Who On Site

A-1 Glass Co

A-1 Glass has been recognized for doing a great job with prior installations. Recently, they completed a tricky relocation of the stained glass from the old chapel into the new chapel addition and did a great job. Their workmanship is wonderful and their team has been a pleasure to work with for both Elzinga & Volkers and Samaritas. Brick Install and Entry
