Phase 3 - Lobby Roof Trusses
Project Update Staffing problems with the State Fire Marshal’s Department has delayed occupancy of Phase 2. The Fire Marshal gave final approval on November 1st. We are now waiting on approval of the documents submitted to HFES on November 2nd. Progress is moving very well on Phase 3-Entry. Demolition is complete. Asbestos abatement began on November 10th. The foundations and floor slab are complete for the entry addition and wall & roof framing will begin shortly. For Phase 3-Memory Care, one wing has been vacated and we are doing minor demolition and related work in that area. Once remaining residents can be moved into Phase 2, the entire area will be closed off and remodeling will begin in earnest. The concrete crew has moved to the north and is working on completing the foundation and floor slab for the Therapy Gym addition. Once framing is complete for the new entry, the framing crew will enclose the Therapy Gym addition. The Saginaw team is working well together. Looking Ahead
SAFETY Matters Cold Weather Protection
Mike Roney, Field Manager miker@elzinga-volkers.com | 586-482-4102
Prolonged exposure to freezing or cold temperatures may cause serious health problems such as trench foot, frostbite, and hypothermia. In extreme cases, including cold water immersion, exposure can lead to death. Danger signs include uncontrolled shivering, slurred speech, clumsy movements, fatigue, and confused behavior. If these signs are observed, call for emergency help. Keep your head up as we head into winter!
After moving residents into Phase 2, we are building the temporary wall to continue the demolition process of the Phase 3 Memory Wing. Over the next six weeks, we will be refinishing the interior resident rooms to create a more welcoming, non-clinical environment. We are close to completing demolition for the Phase 3 entry and have started the rough exterior wall & roof framing in order for them to dry before the colder weather sets in. We have all the foundations in for the therapy addition and will start exterior framing to dry-in soon.
