New Temporary Main Entrance

Project Update We progressed well on Phase 2 with completion taking place October 16th and occupancy by Samaritas to follow. Meanwhile we’ve gotten a jump on the entry portion of Phase 3. Make safe is complete and demolition is underway. Soon, we will begin asbestos abatement. We’re sad that Leigh McLeod is leaving Samaritas and the Saginaw facility. She has been a very strong team member in the operations as well as the construction side of the facility. We wish her good fortune. Looking Ahead

SAFETY Matters Safety for Residents During Demolition

Mike Roney, Field Manager miker@elzinga-volkers.com | 586-482-4102

Phase 2 wrapped up this week and we all now look forward to the resident move out of Phase 3 to begin the Memory Care updates. We also started demolition of the Phase 3 main entry and are planning to start foundation work for the addition soon.

Last week, we started demolition for the future chapel. When we work next to occupied resident space, it is critical that dust, noise and fumes are all controlled so that the rest of the building is not disrupted. Elzinga & Volkers employs many techniques to control these “necessary evils” of construction including dust walls, negative air machines, air filtering and special noise controls. Although we cannot take out all the noise and dust associated with construction, we can make sure that residents are not disrupted or put in danger during our project.

A-1 GLASS CO

A-1 GLASS CO. LLC performed greatly with the new temporary main entry door, a great improvement over the old boarded up entry. They also installed the aluminum exit door and side light for Phase 2 and were wonderful to work with onsite.
