Executive Summary

Welcome to Your Construction Update Newsletter! We are excited to introduce “On Location,” a monthly newsletter to keep you informed and up-to-date on the Samaritas Saginaw Campus construction progression! This newsletter will highlight team members, share tips for working safely on a construction site, provide a look ahead and upcoming milestones. We hope this newsletter keeps everyone engaged in the project, even if you are not able to see our work in person. The project is off to a great start! Over the past couple of months we completed the asbestos survey, identified our asbestos abatement plan, as well as extensive project scope changes relative to the abatement and long term condition of the facility. We are now well underway with site work as well as the Phase-1 abatement and demolition. We hope you enjoy “On Location.” Please feel free to connect me via email at any time. Are You Protected?

A term you might hear on our site but may not be familiar with is PPE, which stands for Personal Protective Equipment. Examples of PPE include items such as gloves, high visibility clothing, foot and eye protection, protective hearing devices, and hard hats. Some of these items, like hard hats and eye protection, are required 100% of the time on-site, while others, like gloves, are required only when performing certain tasks. Elzinga & Volkers exceeds MiOSHA standards when it comes to PPE to ensure that all of our workers return home safe every day.

TEAM SPOTLIGHT Who’s Who On Site

Hauling sand fill or new storm water system

Bourdow Contracting is a new site contractor for Elzinga & Volkers. They are a well-respected Saginaw contractor who we have been very happy to work with. Most recently, Bourdow quickly reacted to an unknown water line break and fixed the problem in less than an a four hour window so Samaritas didn’t have to report the sprinkler outage.
