REASON FOR SELECTION : DESCRIPTION:
The site is located 23 minutes from the Adelaide City Center ( 19 Km ). The total area of the site is 20,253 m^2. The site has a unique location that provides a private space for the project, yet the access to the other services such as schools, parks, transportation and community services.
DESIGN POSSIBLITIES :
Site Analysis:
The possibilities that the site gave us to integrate our design was a lot of possibilities. We put them in mind and we could have a better design to fit the site in the best way possible. One idea was have multi story building to create it going upward ignoring the slope of the hill and that would reduce the flat surface on the top of the hill. Another idea was a circular shape building was was not a good attempt to the site. The way we design the building is by looking at the topography to create a floor shape to each floor, using the slope of the hill to place the building and make it looks like stairs coming down the hill. That way gave us a big area in the top to make a better use of it and add more advantages to the site.
A rehabilitation center is required a site that can isolate the people inside it from any noise. Also, we kept in our attention that isolated area doesn’t have to be poor with other services or an area no one can reach to it. Choosing Adelaide hill and to be more specific Stirling was because of the great land and the amazing service. The topography of the land works quite well to the design which we think that was a successful choice we took.

NATURAL ELEMANT:
Adelaide hills climate isn’t any different than Adelaide climate the only change would be the hill drop and rise temperature. In the graphs they show the monthly temperature during the year and the rainfalls during the year in Adelaide.
The natural elements of the site is sun and since the site is up on the hill the sun will be directly on the building. Having a natural vegetation helps to create shading in the site. Also the wind can be considered and no need to create any wind protection since the trees all around the site to help slowing the wind.
VEGETATION:
CLIMATE:
Geography:
The vegetation is surrounding the site from every side. The vegetation of the site gives a great isolation to the site which what we want to protect the privacy of the residents and gives them a better life away from all the noise. Vegetation works also as wind protection and a shading device to the area that we are using.

Access :
PUBLIC TRANSPRTAOne of the major elements that any site should focus on is the public transportation to provide an easy way to the visitors. Visitors may not have cars to visit so they might need to get an access to the public transportation. We have studied the area to see what it has such as train and buses. However, the service in this area is covered by the buses as the only service. In the map it shows how many bus station the area has.
ROADS:
CYCLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS:
to access it you need to drive in this kind of roads. When the project is being under construction, the infrastructure will be a major change to provide an easy access to the site for emergency cases. Second, the one way road. Since the area is a residential area the one way road is what surrounds the site after the dirt road. Finally, highways are a bit far from the side which give a good advantage to the site from traffic and noise.
05
There are three types of roads. First one which is the big major concern is the dirt roads. The site has so many dirt roads and to access it you need to drive in this kind of roads.

CHURCHES:
Churches are represented by blue circles in the map. As the map shows there are three churches around the site. In the project faith is an important element that we focused on. So we decided to have at least one church near by the location so we can provide the best community we possibly can.

Adelaide hills and to be specific Stirling area is one of the areas that has a quite good services that any project can get the benefit of placing it in the area. What we were looking for was a health service to be around the site, in term of education since the project is aiming to have families then the schools are another important thing we looked for, also churches and other clubs that provide activities to the area. With all been side we were happy to choose the site.
A place called Mt lofty community sport club that gives the community a joy and for those who have free time can join. The nearest place to the site is the community sport club.
A unique location has to have great educational services. One of the important element that we were looking for is having a site that the school services isn’t far away to give the site another advantage. The site is surrounded by six different schools that are not far away from. In the map the yellow circles represent schools. The nearest school to the site is 10 minutes walk, and the far one is an hour walk. The schools are: Heathfield High school (0.7 km ), Upper Sturt primary school ( 3.5 km), Heathfield Primary school ( 3.2 km ), Aldgate Primary school ( 5.7 km ), The Hills Montessori school ( 5.7 km ) and Stirling East Primary school (4.5 km ) The pink circle is represented hospital. Hospital location is another major point that we put it to look for a proper location. Hospitals are the places that makes the residents feel safe and happy. For any emergency cases, hospital isn’t far away from the site selected. Stirling Hospital is 34 minutes walk from the selected site ( 2.5 km ), which gives the site a strategical location that allows an easy access to hospital for any conditions

INTEGRATING THE DESIGN :
Integrating the design to the site was a challenge that we faced. However, the way the design turned out to be was successful. The challenge was how to make a better use of the site when we have a sloping area and limited flat area in top. We could just use the flat surface and not enough space to provide out door activities or a car park. Using the slope to place the design help us to use the area on the top to have the ground level which we kept it to be the communal area to keep it connected to the out door activities and the kids play area in the back of the building. Also in the method we used we were able to make a space to the car park.
SAFEHELD “ THE BUIDLING “:
The building is downward multi stores building. It is 5 stores downward and two major building placed next to each other. The reason behind the multi story building is to provide a privacy to all the people who lives in it and make more services in side the building itself. In the group level we make a sharing kitchen and a lunch area that fits the number of people inside the building. The kitchen is facing the north west area in front of an open window to give a sun light and beautiful view. We also make two living areas one that faces the north east side with the beautiful view. The first level of the north east building has the gym and daycare space to allow the people to have a healthy life and make sure that their kids can have the best care they can have. For the other levels they are a residential areas with different room sizes to fit different family sizes.

An Outdoor Activity Area
AREAS AROUND THE BUILDING :
Extra Area For an Outdoor Activites
Car Park
Kids Play Area
Around the main building there are four important areas. The areas gives a better use of the purpose of the building. We placed them on the flat surface on top of the hill to have the best use of the site. 1- The first area is the car park when you entre the site from the main road that we create . The main road it wasa before a dirt road. The car park is big enough to have more than 70 cars. 2-We created a green area that takes you to the communal. The green area can be used to outdoor activites and what we tried to accomplish is not limiting the people who lives in the building to just use indoor activites. 3- In the third area we made it to be a kids play area it is protected by the main building and vegetation around it to make it a secure place away from the street. The area gives the kids the freedom to play as they like to play without any danger. 4- An open area to the natural area on top of the ground level the communal area. In this area residents can use this place to site to each other to get engaged with the nature surrounded the site. An open area that connected to the main floor can add another space to have more activites and can be use to do any type of an out door exercises
12
LIVING AREA:
The living area that located in the north east side of the building faced the glazing open wall looking at the beautiful view from up the hill. The living area one of the main areas in the building to give the chance to the people living in the building to sit together and enjoy sharing the talk with each other. The idea of creating such an environment is to show love and share the feeling and nit to allow any one to feel alone. The idea of having an inside family can be one of the way to provide a better healthy life that surve the main goal of the building. The idea is building a rehabilitation centre.
13
LUNCH ROOM AND KITCHEN :
The lunch area is big enough to fit 100 people with planets on the walls to give a breathable area. the lunch area is located in the north west building facing a glazing wall to provide a beautiful view to the people who is enjoying their meals. the way that the tables designed is making people facing each other in each side of the table. In that way we create an enjoyable meal surve with sharing the talk with the residents. Different ages and family environment can give hope to better life and show how life is beautiful and worth having another chance to change. With all the sharing environment that the area provide can help to reach the best result that we try to accomplish. kitchen is in the same place where the lunch area to give another experince to the people in the building to make food helping each other.
14
CORRIDOR:
The corridor one of the way to create another community area and deliver a good communal message. The stategy or the method we used to have the rooms is by studying the way that each person would use the corridor and in which direction they would go to sure that there is a kind of interaction with others. The communcation way though corridor can read any feelings that the residents can have, such as if one needed help or someone to talk too.
ROOMS :
The rooms are designed in away that the residents have their own privecy and different sizes to fit different size of families. There are 72 rooms in the building and each room can fit different size of people. we created rooms that fit 5 peoples in one room for a big family members. Also rooms that fits 3 members. The room size gets smaller up to only one person. Also we have created offices in each level to have a medical help 24 hours to have a safe living space in the co living building.
