The Water Quality Committee invites you:
An Open House Event on the efforts to arrest the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Lake Tahoe. This event will be held in collaboration with local regulatory agencies and community service groups. It is also open to the public.

The TKPOA has invested millions of dollars to combat AIS. The collaborating agencies have mobilized their teams in support of our efforts, and matched our investment. This joint effort now enters a critical period. The environmental background work is near completion, and a testing methodology for herbicides and other treatments has been defined. There will be a public comment period on the “draft permit” for the herbicide test this fall. Then, we will be looking to the key regulatory bodies—the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board (LRWQCB)—for approval of the “Control Methods Test” in January 2022. This is a crucial milestone for the TKPOA AIS effort!
Information will be provided on the following topics:
• History of AIS in Lake Tahoe and the Keys, and where we are today • The basin-wide collaborative effort to address AIS in the Tahoe Keys • Specific testing and AIS treatment plans under consideration • Our longer term water quality challenge in the Keys lagoons • How homeowners can help keep the TKPOA’s AIS efforts on track
