“Being a part of a global community provides so many opportunities for collaboration, connection, and service. My eyes have been open to different cultures and different languages, yet we have so much in common.” SUMAIA KHOURY ’19 Student Body Co-President

A mission with a rich heritage Founded in 1966 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, Justin-Siena bears a distinction of educational excellence that ensures the school is always moving forward as our “Sempre Avanti motto states. We take pride in our current students and graduates who continue to serve and lead in their communities.

What is Lasallian?

At Justin-Siena, students are invited to explore their relationship with God. Our religious studies program, accompanied by a wide array of faith formation activities, provides opportunities for students to learn to nurture their faith while responding to the needs of others.

Lasallian education is rooted in the mission of St. John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers, who founded the De La Salle Christian Brothers more than 300 years ago. De La Salle transformed education by forming a community of educators with whom he developed a spirituality of teaching and learning, to give a human and Christian education to young people, especially the poor. Lasallians today, made up of the De la Salle Christian Brothers and their Partners, continue to respond to students through innovative advancements in teaching, technology and scholarship.

What makes us Lasallian?

Our mission call us to provide educational excellence in a Christ-centered and inclusive community, representing a 300-plus-year tradition of respect, welcome, and hospitality that makes it easy to “be you,” according to Kate Nations ’21 (pictured to the right of Mr. Jake Spears outside English class).

Dare to be SEEN, KNOWN, AND LOVED Relationships are at the heart of what we do Building relationships with students is a hallmark of Lasallian education. Our faculty and staff see their work as a vocation, and this is reflected in the way they get to know students as individuals.

Through our commitment to ensure that each student is seen, known, and loved, we create a nurturing learning environment that allows students to be the best version of themselves. Like our Founder St. John Baptist de La Salle, teachers engage with each student to bring out his or her unique gifts and talents. “Really connecting with a student —whether in class or on the field—is what I love about teaching and coaching. I challenge my students to be their very best, and I cannot not think of a more rewarding vocation.” SPENCER JOSKE ’10 Instructor in Science; Asst. Varsity Football Coach

Dare to be A SCHOLAR Instilling a passion for life-long learning Our rigorous college-preparatory curriculum is designed for students to be competitive for college placement, while becoming young men and women inspired to put their faith into action, to apply their knowledge for the benefit of others, and to embrace their bravery from within. At the heart of the academic experience at Justin-Siena is our commitment to fostering a personal, caring, and challenging atmosphere. With an aver-

age class size of 22, 39 Honors/ Advanced PlacementŠ courses, and 17 electives in engineering and the arts, students learn countless ways to problem-solve, create, collaborate, reason, and use their voice with clarity and confidence. At Justin-Siena, we prepare students to succeed in college and beyond while engaging their whole hearts and minds to transform the world.

What makes us Lasallian?

Enthusiasm for learning and innovation! Our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, was the ultimate innovator and approached his ministry with ingenuity and zeal. It is in that same pioneering spirit that students such as Sahil Dadhwal ’19, enjoy the challenge of an engineering feat as a competitor on the Robotics team.

CLASS OF 2018: • 152 graduates • 192 universities/colleges issued acceptances to Braves • 97% attending college (76% to 4 yr./21% to 2 yr.) • 23 grads attending Forbes “Top 100” 2017 Best Colleges • $6.3M+ awarded in college scholarships • 6 grads attending Lasallian colleges • 1 Congressional nomination to attend Naval Academy • Several signed letters with NCAA programs including D1 spots at 3 UC campuses

“At Justin-Siena, we are fortunate to be surrounded by patient and innovative educators. Being part of such a highly collaborative, service-minded, and internationally focused community, I am positive my experiences not only aided in my growth as a person, but also provided me the necessary tools to continue to succeed in my college career and beyond.” RITA XIA WU ’18 2018 Salutatorian New York University, Class of 2022

What makes us Lasallian?

An important tenet of a Lasallian education is providing an inclusive community where all students are encouraged to get involved and try new things. Nicholas Reyna ’21 is excited about the upcoming tennis season so he can continue to build his skills—especially now that he can practice on campus on the newly renovated courts.

Dare to be ENGAGED AND INVOLVED Education that is experiential by design Vibrant co-curricular programs enhance student life by engaging young people in unique activities including spiritual development, service, athletics, and the arts while developing and exercising personal leadership skills through a hands-on curriculum that provides practical skills to heighten personal and professional performance.

“Justin-Siena fosters a culture of people who take pride in what they do and who produce extremely high-quality results in the process. I found that the more I involved myself, the more I shared in that thrilling sense of accomplishing something magnificent. For example, I decided it was time to use those hard-won skills from my first engineering course. I was honored by the task and enjoyed learning from the very people who were willing to put their faith in me as captain.

When a challenging curriculum is paired with enriching activities outside the classroom, students are able to further discover their talents within. These opportunities provide students with an environment leading toward maturity and a sense of responsibility. HUNTER SCHAUFEL ’18 Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 2022 Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design Program

Dare to be INSPIRED

Tap into your creative potential Recognizing that creativity, collaboration, innovation, and design are essential skills for careers in the 21st century, the Visual and Performing Arts Department develops these skills in student artists, while helping them discover their own voices and their own artistry. The Department also promotes performances on campus and in the local community through a comprehensive performing arts program, including theatre, choral

and instrumental music, and dance. Studio and fine arts and student film production round out the creative outlets. Through its staff of professional working artists and ongoing programs with the Napa School of Music, the Napa Valley Art Museum, the Napa Valley Performing Art Center at Lincoln Theater, the Justin-Siena Visual and Performing Arts Department provides a unique artistic experience.

Dare to be CHALLENGED Teaching more than just the game Justin-Siena, home of the Braves, is committed to offering a variety of athletic activities. Competing in the Vine Valley Athletic League (VVAL), our teams are made up of more than 75% of the student body participating in one or more of the 45 teams offered. With top-notch facilities, numer-

ous championships and titles, college scholarship offers, and a highly regarded coaching staff, the school ensures that each student athlete reaches his/her potential. Student athletes thrive through the camaraderie of teamwork, essential to leading rewarding and meaningful lives.

What makes us Lasallian?

Enter to learn; leave to serve. This Lasallian motto reflects our commitment to preparing our students to meet the needs of others. Alegra Negrete ’19 finds many ways to get involved at Justin-Siena and especially enjoys being a part of liturgies where she feels joy in helping create an environment where all students are welcome at the table.

Dare to be A LIGHT FOR OTHERS Preparing young people to serve and to lead in our ever-changing world Students are challenged to put their faith into action. Service to others is central to a Catholic Lasallian education allowing students to discover a world that is hungry for their contributions. Service opportunities at Justin-Siena are plentiful, including immersion trips, local aid, and charity drives. Students are further encouraged to identify needs within their own communities and respond.

“Leadership at Justin-Siena has taught me some very important lessons. I know from experience that in order to get others involved in activities, you have to truly be a beacon of spirit and model a sense of energy and excitement for every event. GEORGE KHOURY ’20

By attending Justin-Siena, students are embarking on the most formative journey of their entire lives! “I recently celebrated my 20th high school reunion here on campus, celebrated six years of marriage to my lovely wife (and fellow JS alum), Miranda, and am proud to be leading our football program into a new season—I am surrounded by extensions of my Lasallian family. I am thrilled to think that one day my daughters will benefit from a Justin-Siena education and all richness that provides.” MR. BRANDON LAROCCO ‘98 INSTRUCTOR IN ECONOMICS; HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

“Justin-Siena is family. My siblings and I, as well as my two children, are Braves. I have so many friends and important relationships from my own high school days and from my time as a parent. My daughter recently married her high school sweetheart. Because the groom’s family boasts generations of Braves as well, we had more than fifty Braves at the wedding—it felt like a reunion— it’s family! I am so grateful for Justin-Siena.” CAROLINE BETTENCOURT GERLOMES ’79 Executive Assistant to the President

What makes us Lasallian?

We are a family. We are connected to tens of thousands of Lasallians from all generations around the globe. We share a common bond, faith, and zeal for life. This connection is animated in many ways, including a new exchange program called Lasalle Go, between Justin-Siena and a Lasallian school in France.

Parent Commitment Parents are key partners in ensuring a student’s success. Justin-Siena parents are involved in the life of the school by volunteering, attending co-curricular activities, and supporting key fundraising initiatives. Parent gifts of time, talent, and treasure ensure that our programs, facilities, and staff continue to provide a sustainable environment for learning and growth. In addition to tuition, we ask 100% participation from the parent community in support of the Justin-Siena Fund annually. Parents are asked to make a 100% tax-deductible donation each year for their student. This gift helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education. Gifts of $1,500 or more are leadership level gifts, however, every gift matters and makes a vital difference.

What makes us Lasallian?

The work begun by De La Salle is now continued by the Brothers and many lay people who live their spirituality and exercise the ministry of education. Together and by association we engage in this important work to educate the young people entrusted to our care. The dynamic association and partnership with parents is where we find our greatest success.
