SEPTEMBER

Richard Gahr High school - 11111 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703 D13S // Region 8 // CNH District

Hi-YA, Gahr Key Club! Happy September, Ninjas! Goodbye Summer, and hello Fall. Our term. I’d like to start off by saying that I am so excited that we’re already back to school! Although we’ll be having meetings and events virtually, I cannot imagine how much fun our club will be happening during the month of September! Prefacing this month we have our board introductions! We will be posting a graphic of each and every board member which will include why they love key club and a short paragraph on getting to know them. You don’t want to miss that! On Saturday, September 5th, our region is hosting the Region 8 Game Night. There is a limited amount of open spots so wake up early and be prepared to sign up for this fun night of games and bonding. It’ll be a night to remember so I hope you make it. I am so so SO excited to promote our first meeting of the term AND our welcome events which will take place on the 11th, the 14th, the 16th, and the 18th of this month. Learn more about the social, service, and spirit aspect of Key Club as well as playing fun games with your board! Now to bring some sad news. It has been announced that Fall Rally South has been postponed to April 24th, 2021. Fall Rally is an annual event in which Key Clubbers all around the California-Nevada-Hawaii District come together to compete for the spirit stick by cheering and screaming our heads off. Although it has been postponed, that does not mean we won’t have as less any fun as we would on the original date. So get ready and be prepared for SPRING RALLY SOUTH 2021!!

Hi-YA, Gahr Key Club! Wow! It’s already September? Can you guys believe that a whole month has already passed by? For the past month, it has felt like everything has been flying by. From preparations for the upcoming school year to classes finally starting to doing service projects and fundraisers, August has been a Busy month of change. As we get ready for a whole new school year, you can Count on key club to provide you with a lot of fun to take away something from school that isn’t just academics. We are here to help you serve your community, meet new people, express spirit, and overall just have a lot of fun! in these trying times, we believe that all students still need to celebrate diversity, love for the community, individuality, a safe

place for students, and just the place where students can still get the experience of having on campus clubs! For the next month I hope all of you stay on the lookout for all of the events and meetings we have planned for you. I hope all of you encourage your friends to join and expand our loving family. Hopefully, you make this term as amazing as it usually is. I am so proud of you go to Q club, keep up the good work. In the month of August, our club hosted a Books For Service service project in where members would look through letters and transcribe them, create simple ABC books to donate towards’ children’s literacy, and record themselves reading a children’s story aloud to donate to Children’s Hospitals. This service project took place from August 13th to August 16th. This service project really stood out to me because of how unique and helpful these projects were. Out of the three, my favorite would be the transcribing to help with research and education and historical institutes.

On August 15th I participated in the flash card making service event! I was able to make a whole set of flash cards teaching kids how to count in Spanish! It’s great to be able to help others learn and I love that I was able to share some of my own knowledge. These flash cards could help someone learn a lot and I’m glad that I was able to contribute something. I loved every bit of this wholesome service event and am excited to participate in many more!

The Tastea fundraiser was a fun way to see everyone while still being able to social distance. we all just stayed back and caught up with each other while enjoying our drinks and bite sized foods! I really liked this fundraiser because it reminded me of how much i really missed my key club friends and the whole meaning of key club to begin with.

Joining August DCM was so much fun! I will have to say, Gahr’s Instagram captions about DCM were super cute and clever which is what made me even more excited to attend. I also found it super cute how each and every school within our division was a different character from Phineas and Ferb. The guessing game that we played was also very fun, as well as entertaining because of some of the guesses in the chat. Overall, this DCM had such a cute theme and was also so much fun to attend!

In the month of August, our club attended a fundraiser hosted by Division 13 South with all proceeds going to PTP. This fundraiser took place on August 19th all day. Throughout the day members hung out near the vicinity of Ding Tea and Mayfair Park. Out of the entire day, my personal favorite part would have been hanging out at the park where we all spent time together and played sports.

I was looking forward to this creamistry fundraiser because I hadn’t seen my board members and other Key-unties in such a long time. It happened to be perfect since it was at creamistry and on the hottest day. My house had a black out and I went right away and i had so much fun. I saw julia and all of them and it made my heart so happy. There were a bunch of key clubbers supporting and it was really nice to see all of us meeting up after such a long time. A lot of people donated goods and their service event projects which was great and the whole box was full. Overall I enjoyed the fundraiser even if it was like 100 degrees because I got to see all my key-unties and take film of them :)
