OCTOBER

Richard Gahr High school - 11111 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703 D13S // Region 8 // CNH District

Hi-YA, Gahr Key Club! Happy October, Ninjas! I’d like to start off by saying that I am so excited that it’s already October! Although we’ll be having meetings and events virtually, I cannot imagine how much fun our club will be happening during our usually busy month, October! It’s spooky season, so you know what that means, TRICK-OR-TREAT for UNICEF! Please participate throughout the month to raise funds to save the lives of women and babies around the world. For every $1.80, you can provide three doses of vaccine to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Now that it’s October, our club will be taking a step away from member recruitment and move towards social and service events! For example, on October 9-11, our club will have a Breast Cancer Awareness Posters service event where you will have the opportunity to create posters on spreading breast-cancer awareness for breast-cancer awareness month! Provide facts, definitions, how to help, and other resources. In the month of October, our division will be holding a Pieology fundraiser so please come support! Speaking of our division, our club has a goal of 15 DCM attendees in the month of October. Don’t forget to reach out to your friends and anyone who you know is interested in Key Club! In addition to 15 attendees, we are also aiming for 100 hours this month. Let’s reach our goals, Ninjas! Finally, please, please, PLEASE make it out to our virtual Halloween event on 30th of this month! I know it will be so much fun so why not participate in that fun? Invite your friends and it will be a wicked event!

Hi-YA, Gahr Key Club! What an amazing past month we’ve had! Thank you to everyone who gave our club a chance in the midst of the beginning of the school year. After our officer introductions and promotion of our first meeting, over 70 attendees were present! With our amazing turnout, I hope all of you had a fun time and your first meeting experience was positive. Our welcome event was extremely successful as well, around 60+ attendees throughout the 3 days in total! Our officers did amazing with teaching information about key club, hosting fun icebreakers, games, and activities (with me bothering everyone there hehe). With that, many of you experienced your first “How do you feel?” cheer and first service hour! I’m so proud of how well our first two meetings and welcome event went, you are all SO amazing! Additionally, we had a great turn out to September DCM, where I watched a lot of you have a lot of fun playing games and bonding with the division!

Aside from the amazing activity in the past month, I just want all of you to know that I really appreciate all the time you’ve spent on a Google Meet or ZOOM for our club. I can already tell that so many of you are committed and have so much potential to grow as members. I’m all of your number one fans and only want you guys to have the best experience and most fun! I hope you are able to serve your community, build amazing bonds with people within and outside the club, have fun and spirited moments, and overall make the most of our club, even at home. Never forget that I’m here for all of you for any questions or if you just want to make a friend! I hope all of you are equally as active in October because we have a LOT in store for you guys! Stay tuned for all of our home club service / social / fundraising events, our meetings, and division/region events!

Kickin’ for service,

Gahr Key Club President

Be scary good this Halloween by participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF! Every US$1.80 donated to UNICEF provides a series of three doses of vaccine to eliminate

maternal and neonatal tetanus. By collecting donations for UNICEF through the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program over the years, Key Club has raised more than $7 million to support:

1. Iodine deficiency programs worldwide 2. HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland 3. Teen centers in Uruguay providing adolescents with job skills, education, family counseling, and other social services. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a fund-raising program for children sponsored by the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

Chris Gentile Member These past couple of weeks I introduced to key club. I had h about it from a couple of friends a seemed pretty cool so I attended welcome meeting with expectations, and I was impressed. When I was a freshm attended meetings for clubs bu like this one, even being online there is a global pandemic it was well organized and honestly f gave me an inviting feeling tha don’t really feel with many sc clubs. Everyone was very kind a wasn’t a fake kind of niceness it genuine. If I didn’t know them I w believe they were one big h family by the banter and the way interacted with each other. I felt was an invitation to a family gath than a club meeting.

Gahr Key Club had a Crea fundraiser on September 12th. I w excited because the previous fund had been so much fun. This wou the first time in a while that I woul to see a lot of my board member get ice cream. I was nervous si didn’t know how many people w actually come out but a decent nu of people came out to support even from other divisions!!! De being in quarantine and the spic conditions it was very eventful. I’m that we had this fundraiser beca gave us another opportunity to money for PTP and promote Gah Club. It was an enjoyable exper and I hope more people will com to our fundraisers in the future ;)

Kai Noah Jugo Historian On September 26, many members of Gahr Key Club including myself attended the Division 13 South DCM. This event was filled with lots of fun, starting with old news, ice breakers, club roll call, birthday recognitions for the month of September, as well as breakout rooms where members played Among Us with each other. It was so exciting to see so many members, new and old, attend this event! Not only that, but many of us also participated and talked in chat. I have to say that it was SO refreshing to see many happy faces and key clubbers of my division laugh so hard. My favorite part of September DCM were the breakout rooms. Luckily, I was in a room with people I already knew AND a new freshman joining the family!

Abby Trinh Vice President On Saturday, September 26th, I supported my division by going to their Gong Cha fundraiser! For each drink bought, $1 would be going back to Division 13 South. Not only did I get my boba fix but I also contributed to my club as well as many other clubs! Participating in fundraisers are one of the many ways to give back to the division or your club. The money raised always comes back to you as a member in the form of fun events. That’s why it is great to go out to club/ division fundraisers, so we as members may continue to enjoy all of the amazing social events in Key Club!
