03- A EDSA has been a major thorougfare for the past years. Millions of people have passed by the major highway, slowly transforming the image and function of the adjacent spaces along EDSA. It created a conflict within the framework of the place where EDSA does not support the areas around it anymore. Team members:

Design Concept: Human Behavior Forming the Urban Fabric
SCALE
Urban fabric is the physical element supporting the way of life of cities. The movement and actions of people is influenced by this fabric. In the context of the project, the urban fabric restricts the behavior of these people which creates a conflict between the built environment (EDSA) and the public life. Based on the stakeholder analysis conducted on the Kamuning site, agriculture or resources producing typology is feasible and helpful to the site. Aquaponics can give livelihood for the informal settlers around the area at the same time produce products for the nerarby Nepa Q-Mart.

VALAY TEVEN A HOUSE ON ITS HEELS Project: Residential Location: Itbayat, Batanes, Philippines Date: June 16, 2018
03- B Batanes is the country’s northernmost archipelago province, with Itbayat as its northernmost municipality - giving Itbayat the moniker “Philippines’ Last Frontier”. Due to its location, it has a windy climate and also has the smallest population in the country. Valay Teven is a 400-square meter residential project for a family of five (5) designed to withstand the strong winds in Itbayat while introducing a modern approach in designing a remastered Ivatan house built along the island’s sloping edges. COLLABOARATION PROJECTS- 03- B CONTEMPLATIVE AREA (FOURTH FLOOR) Design Concept: The local popular flower: Vuñitan Endemic only to Batanes, the Vuñitan can be found on the hills and mountain-sides of the islands and blossoms during the coldest months of the year. Harsh growing conditions do not stop it from being in full bloom, and for this it is a worthy symbol representing the Ivatan people.
Valay Teven, therefore, is a modern take on the Philippine Pre-Colonial home: a synthesis of principles of the past generations fused with the technologies of the present, specifically designed for its context.
P19 - P20
In this light, the structure grows out from the ground: its most important spaces placed away from the less private areas and hidden in its core. The hierarchy, therefore, is exactly like that of the Bahay Kubo although it is arranged in the opposite manner.
SITE LOCATION S Present Site Context and Conditions: 1. The site is adjacent to the Valanga Port on the Western part of Itbayat Island, Batanes. 2. Batanes is barely touched by modernization, and is therefore free from heavy vehicular pollution. 3. The island has no electricity from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. 4. No structures around cliff formations due to strong winds and clay topsoil, which becomes sticky when wet and are prone to landslides.

Despite the hardships he experiences in his situation, he does exercises, swimming, sings and prepares his own snacks. He wants to be as independent as possible and the challenge for the designer is that how will he/she design a house that caters the needs of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, the driver, maid and their upcoming children.

04- B Design Concept: Juxtaposition of meanings and tensions The project aims to divert the way of “Form follow function” and let the designers think outside the box, Usually, architectural design can start with a pre-conceived notion on what you want the building to look like from outside, but it actual practice, the exterior, plans, elevations and sections are codependent. There is an inherent relationship between those and the designer should be able to work on those simultaneously. Applying these diffrent approaches can help influence a more fluid form of the museum.

I only decided to take up architecture when the college entrance test results came out. It was rather a path that my gut feeling told me that I should take than something I was forced to. Back when I was in high school, my grades are just average, although I was part of the honor roll once, I would still fail most of the time. I always want to become a collegiate basketball player, unfortuantely my skills in that sport wasn’t good enough. I had a lot of aspiartions back then, and most of them, I wasn’t able to achieve. After fourth year college, I was really depressed because of not being able to atttain my dreams. Until now, there is still this memory that evokes from time to time. However, after seeing people from all the walks of life in the University, it made me realized that there’s a lot of things that I am blessed of, things that I haven’t try that I could venture on one day. There’s a lot of students who are able to produce good output, but I always notice that their mindset seem too focus on the project, ignoring the other importants aspect of life: health, humility, family and sanity. Even though I can also be like that sometimes, I think it’s valuable to try to invest on things outside architecture. With all things that I have experienced, I am still grateful and willing to aspire for more, despite of failures, I still see the silver lining.
