NP Gas Station, Spain Designed by Moneo-Brock, the NP Gas Station is located in Madrid, Spain. It’s constructed on 7391 sqm of site area. I like his building in particular as it captures the flow of movement through the curves on its canopy, on a clear statement towards landscape almost adopting the shape of flying bird for its canopy additionally the canopy also look like clouds on the horizon between earth and sky. The building has a more playful and contemporary character to other architecture. The shelter represents a fluid movements clearly looking to the natural landscape

Viamala Raststatte Thusis Designed by Iseppi/Kurath it is located in GraubĂźnden, Switzerland I think this building is interesting as the shape of it almost blends in with the hills behind it. I like the idea of the building not disrupting the flow of nature and not obstructing the view as the shape of it follows the natural outline of the hills and cliffs behind it.

After researching the Np gas station I have created a model inspired by it. My model is mainly focused on curves and twists. I made the station separate from the cafe to create a sense of getting away from the city and all the pollution. My cafĂŠ/social area is shaped like a cone and the exterior is covered in vegetation. For development of ideas I would like to recreate this but try to join the petrol station with the other spaces but have them on opposite sides to still create the separation.

Wire drawings These wire models were inspired by Moneo-brock and Issepi. My brief refers to the theme of movement and flow so I have created some wire sculptures by folding thin pieces of wire to influence my design. I mainly played around with curved lines. I looked at the different curves in Moneo-brock’s buildings and just tried many variations of bending and twisting. This has allowed me to see different variations that work well and could potentially help develop my ideas. I have used the wires to inspire my ideas for potential sculptures and models.

One of the themes that I was interested to research was natural and organic. I think it is fascinating how nature develops and changes over time, so I decided to look into the form and shape of trees. Every tree is so unique, they have different textures and designs on the trunks and their branches are positioned differently. I have created a set of drawings showing what I have observed. Following on from the cut tree trunks I used oval and rectangular shapes to create forms that are inspired and similar to the staggered tree trunks.

Exploring this bath loofah has allowed me to develop my ideas and experiment with the textures of the sponge. All the different curved layers are very interesting and work well together. The design reminded me a bit of honeycomb and fish scales so I designed some ideas inspired by that.

When making this model I wanted to create something symmetrical and visually interesting. I used paper to fold symmetrically to create a form that was similar shaped to some sort of canopy. This model has function for the charging station but not sure if its enough for the restaurant that I want to accompany the charging station. It would need some re adjusting to make it more useful for two spaces. This model looked quite absorbing to me as it was fun to make and looks very neat and its fascinating because all the folds work well with each other in concordance. My model reminded me of the Burnham pavilion designed by Zaha Hadid.

I have decided to photograph nature as it is part of my theme. I picked plants that had an interesting shape and where unusual. Additionally the photographs are taken at innovative angles to help inspire my ideas. From these photographs I have created drawings that will push me to make models that are inspired by nature and organic looking forms.

I have used tracing paper and folding techniques to create little triangular sculpture. They are both symmetrical and come to a point at the top. The thing that I most like about this model is how complex it looks but also looks slick due to the sharp corners and straight likes.

Flowing my primary research of nature I have created a model that is inspired by the symmetry combinations drawings I made. I liked the look of the way the lines combine and intertwine. The model have created is a pavilion style building.
