Project Synopsis:
The Brief Explained For this final brief of the year, we have been asked to come up with a project that cover three different themes of life. Happiness, future and the internet. The brief is very open and can be anything for example creating a story book about the future and your happiness and making it digital, to producing a series of photos that might explain something about the future and you. This brief aims us to research beyond parameters of each areas of the themes and develop eye catching ideas that would make it a good impact project, what explains all themes thoroughly through physical and digital artwork.
What people say about happiness Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Mahatma Gandhi Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one’s values. Ayn Rand Happiness is something that you are and it comes from the way you think. Wayne Dyer Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere, wholeheartedly, one-directionally, without regret or reservation. William H. Sheldon Happiness is not a reward – it is a consequence. Robert Ingersoll Happiness is different from pleasure. Happiness has something to do with struggling and enduring and accomplishing. George Sheehan Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence. Aristotle Happiness is not something you experience, it’s something you remember. Oscar Levant
Where my happiness comes from... Here is a collection of photos of the people that matter the most to me in the world, my family. The photos of me in the gardens is with my fiancĂŠe, one of the main reasons for my happiness. In my work I will create a project that will involved me and my fiancĂŠe and where I see myself in ten years with her.
Stefan Sagmeister - The Happy Show Stefan Sagmeister, who has documented his struggles with alcohol and drugs, weight gain, and depression, first conceptualized The Happy Show in an attempt to define and control his own happiness during a client-free sabbatical, a year-long break he takes every seven years to creatively recharge. The final display is the result of 10 years of research into his own personal happiness. Confronted with stories about wellness, mindfulness, and sexuality, viewers will be immersed in an experience akin to walking into Sagmeister’s mind. The Happy Show is comprised of an array of engaging info-graphics, video projections, and interactive installations, including a stationary bike that powers a wall of neon, a giant inflatable monkey, and a series of gumball machines that displays visitors’ collective level of happiness. Audiences will also enjoy a preview of Sagmeister’s soon-to-be-released documentary, The Happy Film, which depicts his attempts to increase his happiness through meditation, cognitive therapy, and mood-altering pharmaceuticalsrilla street interventions that invite social connection. http://museumofvancouver.ca/exhibitions/exhibit/stefan-sagmeister-happy-show
Tom Watkins When I’m a dad 2015
Tom Watkins creates a children’s story book about becoming a dad in then years time. He feels that he needs to inspire the fathers of the future. Shannon Lea (Home) Marker 2015
Shannon Lea has designed a piece of artwork that explains where she sees herself in ten years from now, I know what I want to be doing and where: designing in London, concentrating on my craft and making something of myself. Equally I know what I don't want: countryside living, to be a wife and a mother and having made compromises along the way. Both the print and digital illustration reflect this; the image visible during the day depicts my ambitions. Whereas during the night, or at least when the lights are off, I'm confronted with the future I don't want to be mine.

Modern science defines
HAPPINESS As the positive range of emotions that we feel when we are content or full of joy. At Coca-Cola our definition is just a little bit simpler. Happiness to us is anything that can bring a smile to someone’s face. We’re in the business of spreading smiles and opening happiness every day all across the world. We know we might not change the world over night, but if we can add just a few smiles to the world then we’ve done our job. Since the dawn of time the human race has sought intensely after the pleasure and lightness that true happiness brings. The quest for true happiness is one that every person will adventure on.
So what is happiness? Great philosophers, religious leaders, writers and thinkers throughout human history have asked themselves this basic question. Through their wisdom we can learn and maybe take just one more step on our own happiness journey.
Sometimes you’ll find that happiness finds you when you least expect it. Like Coca-Cola, these great men and women each asked themselves the same core question – what is happiness? While each of their own definitions differ, each touches on a similar cord that we must all come to realize. The quest for true happiness is not really a quest at all, but a decision and a choice. So don’t wait another moment. Open an ice cold Coca-Cola and choose happiness! http://us.coca-cola.com/happiness/
Future Self When I get asked about my future, I always think about me as creative director of my own company along side my wife and family with businesses in different sectors with my graphic design company as my main business. I see this company being in charge of all marketing departments within all the companies. I see myself as hopefully a successful businessman. For this project I have been thinking about creating a clothing brand and taking charge of the creative side from business cards, tags, carrier bags, signboard, flyers, point of sale and much more to creating an actual brand and building it from there. After working in a current family businesses from a young age I feel this has helped me with where I see myself in the future.
Idea One Producing a long time line that folds out and explaining where I see myself in the future, this time line will be made up of photos and text of family and friends, events and special dates. It will be made up digital and hand made so it gives it a personal touch. For the digital side of things I will create a online blog that I will update regularly with also photos and text. It will be a more up to date time line as the events take place over the next years.
Idea Two As me and my fiancĂŠe will be getting married soon, we have been thinking of doing something doing as a venture, we both have massive passion for fashion and design so we are deciding to open a online clothing company selling western attire but hopefully expanding our range into English attire and creating for the multi culturally society we live and been brought up in. We feel this would be one of a kind store. Regarding this project I will create a whole brand and design the whole set up myself with my creative knowledge and input in the business. I feel this is a really strong idea as this I happiness for both our passions, this company becomes our future and we will sell online and all social media platforms what makes it digital. Examples

Idea Three For this idea I decided using photography and text to produce a storybook showing my life from now for the next ten years, mapping it all out and guessing the next ten years from getting married moving out living happily with my wife, having kids and becoming a successful businessman. This book would also be produced onto a website that we can update every year on our progress and see if it matched what we planned in the book. I see this as an exciting project that would carry on for years and years.
Chosen Idea - Setting Up A Company I have decided to go idea two for my chosen concept. I feel that I am very confident in this project I feel that the idea of building a brand and opening a shop works really well for long-term. Would be the best idea as I feel I could start with coming up with the company name, designing the logo and slowly building up the brand. I will then move onto promotional items such as flyers, leaflets business cards, letterheads and much more I will also increase my graphics work and produce carrier bags, branded clothing tags. I will start off with a website with all the products on and hopefully open a store soon. For this idea I will design all the artwork need for the company that is needed, this idea makes me very happy as I will also become a young entrepreneur.
Brand Identity - Inspiration
The Development - Hand Drawings
The Development - Logo
After various conversations with my fiancĂŠe, we have decided to call the Company Arooj. The inspiration for this name came from the clothing company called Zara. We felt the name Arooj was clean, sleek and memorable. In the future if we wanted to expand the company, the name would suit many different categories. Here is range of logo designs that I have come up with I think the strongest ones are the ones on the black background. I find the text stands out more on the black and gives it a cooperate look.

Evaluation Thought out this project I have learnt a lot for setting up a new business to all the little graphic details involved from the logo all the way to designing carrier bags to signboards and much more. I have really enjoyed this project and feel I have achieved a lot with the time was given regarding designing a lot point of sale and business documents. I feel if I was to do this again I maybe would look into having a more expand range of give away that customers could takeaway. I really liked how the logo worked really well with the colour scheme and stood out on everything that it was placed on. I feel the yellow and back went together really well and gave a very good soft contrast off. I know they is always space for improvement and I will keep looking into making it a stronger brand on a daily basis. Overall I am happy with the outcome and can see this business becoming a big company in the near future with a well respected brand that will just been build on knowledge and creativity from myself as a passionate graphic deisgner with a good eye for innovative designs.
