THE RED CROSS AUSTRALIA
“The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found” (Red Cross 2016, n.p.)
the Red Cross will not take sides in hostilities. While working within the laws of the country that the Red Cross is it remain independent from the place in which they are within; this is so that they can always act with only their principle and beliefs in mind, providing impartial treatment to those who need it.
The Red Cross is a humanitarian organisation. Its purpose is to protect lives and health. The Red Cross is impartial; it does not discriminate against race, religion, nationality, political beliefs or class. It is guided by who needs help and how they can help those people. Because of its impartiality
“In times of war, a red cross on a white background means ‘don’t shoot’. It shows that impartial assistance is available for anyone who needs it, with no discrimination to what side they belong to” (Red Cross 2016, n.p.).

HOME VISIT
LOCATION “The City of Gold Coast is Australia’s largest non-capital city. More than 526,000 residents live here, around 12 million tourists visit every year, and in 2018, the city will host the Gold Coast 2018 CommonwealthGamesTM. Thedeclaration of the Southport PDA proactively positions the Gold Coast as a world-class city and globally competitive business location.” The site of the Red Cross feels very unwelcoming due to its dull colours and it feels like a big block in the street. During the day the site does feel safe, however at night time the site feels very isolated, dark and scary. The main sounds that you would associate with the site is cars, café noise and the tram, however because of its location the café and tram noises are a little bit muted. The smell of the site is very neutral, just the grass around it, the cafes are too far away to smell. Named in Southport in 1875, previously known as Nerang Creek Heads. After foundation it quickly became the seaside resort area. “Southport was one of the earliest centres of the Gold Coast” (ref). Economic and socioeconomic conditions of the city Future planning considerations for the city (this can be found in reports generated by local government/council)

ThreatS
The use of parking may be used by other people who do not use Red Cross, Development around the building.
“Southport was declared as a Priority Development Area (PDA) on 4 October 2013 under the Queensland Government’s Economic Development Act 2012. The PDA status will remove barriers, boost development opportunity and facilitate the further economic development of the Gold Coast’s CBD” (ref).

CONCEPT STATEMENT
Our intention is to update and stream line the space from booking system and paperwork with the implementation of a simple app and tablet innovation and cordless phone system will enable the faster handling of people and the processing of the articles with in the inventory through a click and collect type of system with strong image based forms. Given the small space and the need for the client to move freely through the work flow process we have established from the initial client brief that a brining the home into the office with a cozy feel is of great importance to the client. This will be achieved by the use of a living wall system on the faux wall that will separate the storage of wheel chairs from the view of the arriving clients giving a natural environment touch to the office space. We have taken this main workspace and split it into three areas.
Further to enhance flow we have incorporated different flooring colours and finishes to lead the eye down the hall and a beautiful time line of the Red Cross on to subtle circles on the side wall that follow the progress of the organisation through time. Outside the wall will feature a mural of the history of the Red Cross and a sail covering system and ramp access have been added to the entry way of the building. The facade will be bold and moody with rich tones of grey that speak confidently and dramatically with the addition of bright accents of the signature Red Cross show stopper red in the shade sail for a dynamic contemporary feel. Natural colours in the window frames add the airy crisp of a blank canvas that whisper a calm stillness of longevity just like the brand that has endured over decades.
This design concept was appropriated into the design process with the use A reception / office area in the very front entry with a booking window featuring of oval meeting tables in the consultation room giving flexibility to move bi fold windows and a bench and stools outside to give an easier cafĂŠ feel to the furniture around in the space, the ability for staff and clients to move freely bookings and enquire window. Our design is the maximization of how to utilize workspace At the fore of the workplace innovation process we have introduced a lounge colour to actually boost happiness, productivity as well as creativity with in relax area to the main consultation room facilitating two aspects of the design the space. needs of the client in making the space more comfortable and also making it inviting while bringing the added homely feel to the space. While moving away from the present colour scheme was important to bring the space to life, however we wanted to keep the base of the business in mind. With an upbeat passion for life our colour selection radiates optimism and energy. A great way to experiment with bold colours is in a small space while reflecting the businesses personality and taste creating high impact throughout the space. We have accomplished this with the influence of the old red cross posters from a by gone era and incorporation the arches and the strong colour choices in a flow throw arch way effect that will draw the client through from reception / entrance to the consultation room with easy and comfort with our living wall being visible through the framing of the aches from the front door on.
