This project is about collective self-management and, therefore, self-configuration of student housing. It’s apllied in various empty or abandoned contructions in the city of Volos, Gr. Thus, the Unit was devised, a structure on wheels that meets the needs of personal space of a student. It is designed in a way that its shell can potentially “close” and isolate the individual from the community-but it can also “open” to reconnect them in ways that result from the self-determination of individuals. Dynamic plans are produced with sporadic private bays. The free space among them hosts the spontaneous desires of the members (study, entertainment, training, play). Auxiliary functions of habitation, (kitchens, bathrooms and storages) are placed on the partitions of the apartments in order to minimize disturbance on the movement of the units.

Permanent residence six-member family_ contains 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open plan living room, a kitchen and 2 storage rooms, and an open air working space. Function The main quest was the house to be water autonomous. So, to collect rain-water the roof is used as a receptacle, which drives the water into 4 big tanks through a central tube. With the use of a pump, the water from the tank can be both despaired into the house, as well as outside, for watering plantations in the garden. (Tanks total capacity = 32m3). Design Key element is the monolithic wall (1.5m width) which includes some functions. According to the venturi effect, we created small openings in the main wall under the floor lever, to allow wind to pass through the wooden floor, and renew the warm air, by pushing it up. (see section diagramm). The floor, is made by wooden planks which are spaced apart to allow wind circulation. Double roof system: the roof consists of 2 parts, (ceiling and roof covering). The roof covering is hold by iron structure. It’s raised upon the ceiling, to allow the warm air, to move away by the wind’s blow. The air space is protected by wooden poles.

Pavlakis’ Mansion Imprinting Supervisor: Dimitris Filippitzis

One of the projects I had to run, during my apprenticeship at the architectural office of Dimitris Filippitzis and Associates, was the imprinting of Pavlaki’s Holiday House, which was build in 1994, when no digital means where used. The handwritten drawings were no longer accurate as lots of things have changed over time. Thus, the building had to be imprinted and the plans digitalized. I cite three of the elevations. The building is located in Mount Pelion, Province of Magnisia, Gr.

This project concerns the creation of a dynamic community capable of accommodating people in-move as well as providing working spaces (laboratories), entertainment and education (library) to the wider community of the city of Volos. For its sustainability, we contemplate an agora, room to expose or exchange what it’s being created inside the community. For this reason, we took special care of the connection of the complex with the city. It is placed in a very large untapped area in the outskirts of Volos.

This is a study of someone’s everyday life. At first, his avocations were investigated, as well as how he manages the time in his day, what objects he uses, how he moves, what people is he connected to, etc. The subject of this project is a 50-year-old teacher living in the province of Messinia Gr, who is also engaged in agriculture and livestock farming. He also enjoys small
constructions. Then, we were asked to design a portable wardrobe (total capacity: 1m3), where that person could keep all things necessary for him to live anywhere at any time. So, the Cube was designed, divided into 4 parts: - the first one keeps the clothes needed for school in the mornings, - the second one stores casual clothes and tools, - the third one concerns personal beloved things, - and the fourth one is a collapsible surface that can be used as a desk.
Maps about that person’s everyday movement -
from the small village where he lives, -
to the small town where he works, -
to the bigger city where he visits for more activities.

interaction spaces. Sleep is included in a wheeled unit that moves on rails, which allow it to move inside the house as well as on the bridges. So, during the winter, residents live inside the cloak under the earth, while in the summertime they can pass the day outside, sleeping over the river, among the trees of the forest.

This is a project about architecture and cinema. In the first part we were asked to remake a scene of a movie. We chose the movie Modern Times of Charlie Chaplin. The concept was to copy every tape exactly as it is, in terms of direction, but without acting. In the second part we were asked to direct our own movie, write our own script and record it. So, we came up with the idea of “Scroll the day” scenario. It’s a short film about how technology and social media affect every aspect of our daily lives. For both videos, we took care of the every detail, from the actors’ clothes to the final editing of the movies. I cite some screenshots from both videos.
