Weaving together threads of Nashville’s folk, soul and bluegrass legacies, Humming House’s versatility flexes between quick-stepping waltzes, smoldering blues, classic jazz, and throwback folk songs evoking old seas shanties. THU JUN 9 Trevor Hall Trevor Hall’s music is an eclectic mix of acoustic rock, reggae and Sanskrit chanting, arising from his experiences through pilgrimages in India, his life in an ashram, and musical tours while maintaining his spiritual monastic practices. His songs echo with the names and teachings of divinities, delivering a universal message through the moving temple of the stage. 8:00 p.m. $30.

FRI JUN 10 & FRI AUG 19 Syllables & Sound: An Evening of Local Musicians and Writers Calling all musicians, songwriters, bands, bards, spoken word aficionados, poets, short story writers, performance poets and all other forms of musical and written art! FRI JUN 24 The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience Grammy-nominated mandolinist / composer / bandleader / producer David Grisman has been a guiding force in the evolving world of acoustic music for nearly half a century. A pioneer and innovator, David forged a unique personal artistic path, skillfully combining elements of the great American musical art forms — jazz and bluegrass mixed with many international flavors and sensibilities. SAT JUL 2 After Midnight Jazz Band This hot swinging sextet flaunts searing talent in jazz, swing, Latin jazz and blues. Their repertoire ranges from Benny Goodman to Frank Sinatra, playing jazz festivals from Sun Valley to Sacramento. They boast a cumulative resume of appearing on the Merv Griffin Show, playing with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans, and traveling from Germany to the Bahamas. 7:30 p.m. Early Bird through 6/25: $25. THU JUL 7 Suzy Bogguss Known best for her hits “Drive South” and “Someday Soon,” Suzy takes her audiences by the hand and walks down the dusty roads everyone knows — of the obsession of love and the knife cuts of loss; of risk and pain and passion. TUE JUL 12 Leftover Cuties Los Angeles’ quartet Leftover Cuties deliver a vintage jazz pop that’s sweet as pie but strong as whiskey. The sultry pipes and precise phrasing of Shirli McAllen recall that of a lounge singer as her silky vocals glide between brushed drums, upright bass and ukulele. The results are coy, sexy and smart with a noir-esque atmosphere that is both retro and refreshing. 7:30 p.m. $15.

FRI JUL 15 Paper Bird This six-piece indie-folk, baroque-pop band rises high from their mountain roots in Denver. With three female vocalists their harmonies are multi-faceted, rich, velvety and sweet. A vintage sound emerges with influences of gospel, soul, rock and roll, shoe-gaze, African rhythms, R&B and jazz. 8:00 p.m. Early Bird through 7/8: $20. Regular: $25.

Come laugh it up with intelligent, thought-provoking standup comedy chock full of clever word play and shocking insights into current politics and culture. Improv professionals herald from such auspicious venues as Comedy Central, Chicago City Limits, Second City, Denver’s own Comedy Works and beyond. 8:00 p.m. Early Bird through 7/15: $18. Award-winning concert pianist Elaine Kwon brings her sold out Carnegie Hall collaborative concert phenomenon to the Center Stage, joining creative forces with local musicians and aerial artists of the Crested Butte Dance Collective. Dr. Kwon is a lecturer at MIT and has performed as a solo artist with National Music Festival Orchestra and the Toronto Philharmonia, among others. 7:30 p.m. Early Bird through 7/17: $35. SAT JUL 23 Due West This country trio is renowned for their tight, threeway harmonies and fresh tracks that sit on the cutting edge of the Nashville sound. Iris DeMent’s Grammy-nominated music is firmly rooted in the American South, with timeless melodies that could easily be mistaken for longforgotten hymnal entries or classic country tunes. Honkey-tonk vibes, mournful slide guitar and rich harmonies all find their place in her versatility and depth through raw topics of religious skepticism, small-town life and human frailty. 7:30 p.m. Early Bird through 7/31: $25. FRI AUG 12 Appleseed Collective The Appleseed Collective swings from dim club storytelling swagger to rich vocal harmony, from hot club hot licks to spacey ambience, and from old Irish reels to modern American indie. Their mix of gypsy folk, Dixie ragtime, swing, Americana and jazz is wafted through with headier sonic concoctions for a more psychedelic flair. 8:00 p.m. Early Bird through 8/5: $12. Regular: $15.

FRI SEP 2 SHEL This far-out, virtuoso quartet of sisters from Fort Collins paints indie-folk with an effervescent mashup of dense, ethereal textures, deep grooves, electronic ambiance and beat-boxing. Their classically inspired mandolin, violin, piano, drums and glowing four-way vocal harmonies come shaded in a bohemian and art-driven tint, shining with influences from rock bands of the 60’s to composers of the 18th century. 8:00 p.m. Early Bird through 8/26: $15. Follow in the footsteps of the wildly popular Dancing with the Stars with Crested Butte’s own celebrities and funky flavor. Local choreographers are paired with Crested Butte personalities to train up on their best moves for this wild dance party competition. Play full songs in no time learning from real musicians at the new Rockin' Music School for Kids! Gain skills in ensemble playing, teamwork and even developing original material. Each day is a two hour session working with instructors to play the songs you want on the instrument of your choice through both individual and group instruction. This awesome week culminates in a public performance on the Center for the Arts Stage with moving lights, fog machines and a big PA — recorded live for you to take home! All levels welcome. Students placed in a band Sessions according to age and skill level. Tuition: $150 (need based scholarships available). Crested Butte THE CRESTED BUTTE FILM FESTIVAL partners with the Center for the Arts to bring you a powerful line up of diverse and inspiring films, audience favorites, and new independent cinematic masterpieces through a variety of ventures. The Crested Butte Monthly Films Series keeps film buffs engaged throughout the year with specially selected film on the third Thursday of every month. Thematic films are also held in partnership with other organizations and events such as the Crested Butte Wine & Food Festival. And of course, don’t miss the indulgence of the four-day festival itself the last weekend in September. THU JUN 16 Warren Miller’s International Ocean Film Tour All that snow has to go somewhere. And Warren Miller takes us there, straight to the ocean. This tour is a series of six short films packed with windsurfing off Tasmania; free diving with sharks; surfing in Mexico; Diana Nyad swimming from Cuba to Key West; and the oceanic noise pollution created by man. Running time: 120 minutes. These films are not rated but contain some profanity. THU JUL 21 Janis: Little Girl Blue Janis Joplin is one of the most revered and iconic rock & roll singers of all time, a tragic and misunderstood figure who thrilled millions of listeners and blazed new creative trails before her death in 1971 at age 27. When Hassan and his family are displaced from their native India and settle in a quaint French village, they decide to open an Indian eatery. Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren), the proprietress of an acclaimed restaurant just 100 feet away, strongly objects. War erupts until Mallory recognizes Hassan’s impressive epicurean gifts. Private Aerial Dance Lessons Private lessons are available for students of all levels of aerial fabric and / or lyra for ages six and up. Private lessons are catered to the students’ specific levels and provide more time on the equipment than in the larger group classes with set curriculums. A great option for a fun and unique birthday party! Supervised aerial practice sessions with no instruction! Practice and perfect your existing skills with access to lyra and silks. Participants must have been enrolled in a full session of CB Dance Collective’s Aerial Dance classes during the last 12 months or receive prior approval from CBDC. Open to ages 15 and up. COME WATCH THE SPARKS FLY! An Iron Pour is the creation of sculpture through the pouring of molten iron into molds. In the preceding weeks of the Iron Pour on October 6, artists, interns and community members (including kids!) have the opportunity to work on pieces to cast the Pour.

ARTIST RESIDENCIES Week-long residencies for artists with daily workshops, discussions and a lot of time for creating and sculpting.

INTERNSHIPS Earn college and university credit for your work in helping to conduct the pour.

RAISE YOUR GLASSES TO THE 15TH ANNUAL TOUR DE FORKS, the delectable, signature fundraising series for the Center for the Arts Crested Butte. Throughout the Tour de Forks events of the summer, food and architectural enthusiasts visit a variety of private homes and dine on epicurean delights. Dining is an experience, as the hottest trending chefs from Crested Butte, Kansas City, Aspen, Denver and Gunnison strut their stuff in the freedom of Tour de Forks to showcase their greatest and most creative talents. Homes range from sharp modern décor and design, to ornate renditions reminiscent of medieval times. Throughout the Tour you may travel to experience an authentic Argentinean asado at a pastoral ranch, or an haute cuisine immersion with Oysters Rockefeller.
