Kathy began her professional career by attending and graduating the Colorado Institute of Art in 1988. While attending college, she worked for the Arts Students League of Denver, Metropolitan Denver Arts Alliance, Denver Partnership, and Denver News4. In 1989, Kathy was hired by Joe Bullard, formerly managing editor of the Denver Post, and Tony Campbell, former managing editor of the Rocky Mountain News, as Production Manager for one of Denver’s first and only publication design firms at the time, Publication Design, Inc. Her role was production and scheduling of several weekly publications in the cable news trade industry, and head of a department of five designers. She worked with some of Denver’s best writers, editors and photographers from Rocky Mountain News, Denver Post, and the Denver and Boulder Business Journals. In 1995, Kathy’s career path took her to the Western Slope to the Gunnison Valley and the towns of Crested Butte and Gunnison, Colorado. She worked as Prepress Department Manager for Crested Butte Printing and B&B Printers, designing for local businesses in the Valley. She was the in-house Prepress Manager and lead designer for B&B Printers until moving to Fort Collins in 2015. From 1998 on, Kathy in tandem, operated her own design business and designed and produced the Crested Butte Magazine for over ten years, working with local writers, photographers and editors in the Valley. Kathy also worked for the Crested Butte Weekly and was the lead designer for Crested Butte Center for the Arts until 2019, and lead designer for Western Horizon Resorts and the Ultimate Camping Network in Gunnison, Colorado from 1998-2021. Kathy has been an artist since she could hold a crayon, drawing her favorite muse—horses. She has had local and national recognition of her artwork, and her passion to create persists. She currently lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, offering businesses her publication design and printing expertise.
