Case. Floss. Redesign. the top part is a slider to open and closs the case.
Original.
Since the case will be reusable, people can buy the floss spearately, which is made from yucca eleta fibers instead of nylon. These fibers biodegrade whereas nylon doesn’t and is harmful to the environment. In addition, the wax on the floss will come from vegetable oil, not petroleum. By designing a biodegradable floss it can be composted and becom fertilizer and nutrients for other plants.
In order to make the case have a longer lifetime. It will be made of steel, for longer and durable use. Instead of 2 months, the case can last for at least 5 years or more.
The original design of Oral-B’s Glide dental floss uses chemicals that are harmful towards the environment. This includes petroleum for the wax, nylon, and teflon in the floss itself. As for the case, it’s made out of plastic that is thrown away after there is no more floss. Most of the time, these cases are still intact and can still be used. So my design objective here is to make biodegradable floss and long-lasting cases.
back can be opened to put new roll of floss into the case
When opened, there will be a stub to put the floss insde to keep it in place.
