Confidence can be defined as: the state of feeling certain about the truth of something. We may place our confidence in our dentist to help us maintain good strong teeth and a beautiful smile. Trust may be found in our auto mechanic to maintain our vehicle to be safe on the road. But I have found my confidence is on only one certainty, God’s love for me. God unending, unchanging and consistent love is always the same for us each and every day. We can place our trust and lives upon it. My confidence has remained certain over the years on God’s love…his unwavering love. Paul said it well…
“Now abides faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.” I Corinthians 13:13 Friends, for 2019, I am asking you to place your love in God. For the past 15 years, as Lead Pastor, I have placed my trust daily in the grace and love of Jesus Christ. He has never failed me, and he has been so faithful to all of us. Jesus has always been enough and the love he demonstrates is simply remarkable. All Jesus asks is, BE FAITHFUL. No matter what happens, place your trust in the one who loves you the most. Each day and each moment is so precious. We can’t take it for granted and when we place our love in Christ, he will finish the work. When I was on the Camino, he assured me, that change was coming but place my confidence in God and his LOVE will carry us forward. Thanks so much for all your kindness, prayers and support over the many years. The best is yet to come for Abundant Life.
With much love! PB and Kathy Ever have to face change? I’ll never forget when I was told by my parents that there was going to be changes. Change frighten me. I didn’t know what they were going to be. I didn’t know if I’d like the change. I didn’t think that change needed to happened. One thing about walking with God is that there’s lots of change. Thankfully, He doesn’t change (Hebrew 13:8). Circumstances may not change. But we change (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). Throughout the Bible, you see His people being met where they are and how God takes them where they belong. They belong with Him. They belong in His Will. They belong together as His people. (Ezekiel 36:26; Philippians 1:6; Psalm 139:23-24) I’m telling you, when I’m by myself, keeping to myself, it’s easier to remain the same. But when you add another person, a Godly person, you get challenged. You get inspired. You change. (Romans 12; 1 Thessalonians 4:3a) God designed us to be together. Together we learn to live life to the fullest in Him. (Ephesians 2:19-22; Heb. 10:24-25) That includes Him changing us. That includes us trusting Him. That includes accepting His will above our own. (Psalm 37:4-6;) It’s the new year which means we’re all about to face change. The way we face it is by relying on the God who knows the beginning, the end and everything in between (Revelation 22:12-13). Change is inevitable so face it with Him (Psalm 112:7). He’ll lead you. Ministry of self-examination based on the eight principles from the Beatitudes. STEP 4 COURAGE The spiritual principle that is the foundation of Step 4 is courage. In Step 4 we made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. This means we take an honest look at ourselves so therefore this takes courage. Nehemiah 9: 1-3 ‘Now on the twenty-forth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dust on their heads. Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place and read from the book of the Law of the Lord their God for onefourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God. As we make our moral inventory, we will probably find ourselves listing our destructive habits, our defects of character, the wrongs we have done, the consequences of wrong choices that we now live with, and the hurts we have caused others. It’s like sifting through all the garbage in our past. This is painful, but it is a necessary part of throwing away those rotten habits and behaviors that, if not dealt with, will almost certainly spoil the rest of our life. There have probably been times when we have ignored our own sins and problems and pointed a finger at someone else. We may be out of touch with our internal affairs because we are still blaming others for our moral choices. Or perhaps we avoid self-examination by making moral inventories of the people around us. When God asked Adam and Eve about their sin, they each pointed a finger at someone else. “Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?” “Yes”, “Adam admitted, but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it.” “The serpent tricked me, she replied” (Genesis 3: 11-13.
