NOVMEBER 2018
discovery| simplicity | empowerment
Encourage…. Encouragement is free and beyond measure in value. Our world is void of encouragement. It seems to me, that it is easier to tear down than to build up. Yet, as believers, we all could make a difference by speaking a kind word, open the door for someone else, allow others to be in front of the line or be the first to speak a word of encouragement into another person. One of my desires for ALCC, is to be the most encouraging places on the face of the planet. That is God’s heart for us…. As Elders we have adjusted our values to: Discover, Simplicity and Encourage. We will filter everything through these values because I believe this carries our heart as a church. Further…
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Have you ever seen the eyes of someone when you encourage them? I had that experience. The conversation began with some very strong words of hope and kindness. By the end of the conversation, that person had a bounce in their step. It was beautiful the way the Lord used me in that moment. Today, you have that opportunity to be Jesus to someone who may need some encouragement today. I want to ask you to reach out, encourage someone and you too can be the words and eyes of Jesus. Encouraging you from the front… PB and Kathy I love November! The colours of fall are coming and going. We remember those who gave their lives for our rights. We thank them dearly! It’s just before Christmas (less than 60 days)! And! It’s MOVEMBER. Didn’t see that coming, right?! I’m participating in MOVEMBER this month. I’ll “rock a mo to save a bro” and running 60K over the month. The reason is because of the stat that MOVEMBER has put out there: 60 men commit suicide each hour. That’s too many men; 60 too many. I’ve had suicide thoughts and attempts over my lifetime and even when I was in grade 5. It’s convincing lies that lead people to make that commitment. In November, I’m committed in sharing the convincing truth of Jesus that saved my life (John 3:16-17). Bro, hear me: it’s not the way out, but there’s a way through it and His name is Jesus! (Proverbs 3:5-6; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24; Psalm 46) I look forward to “inspire donations, conversations and real change” but most of all, sharing that Jesus causes all of that as we call on His name (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13; cf. Joel 2:32)! You’ll all be involved . . . as you see my mo each Sunday! This is for my son, all my bros and those who are affected by them, Tony Mejia
We are glad you are here, and we trust that feel at HOME. It is our hope and prayer that you will join in as we share our lives, struggles and celebrations of faith together. We believe life is about discovering our faith and purpose, and using this discovery to live out His plan for us with passion. We call ALCC our HOME. We are intentional about relationships with God and each other to bring this message of HOPE to our community.

SINCE 2006 #2 HOPE A Ministry of self-examination based on the eight principles from the Beatitudes. Step 2 :"We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity."
Step Two is often referred to as "The Hope Step". In coming to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity, we will remember what it was like to live sanely and have the faith to hope that sanity can return. "What is faith?" the Bible asks. Hebrews 11: 1 "It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. The Bible also tells us that the key to this hope is in the nature of the God we look to. We are told that "anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that there is a God and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him" (Hebrews 11: 6). Without Hope we are miserable. Hope is the driving force behind all recovery. If we had no Hope, there would be no possibility of recovery. Understanding who Jesus is gives each of us a Hope that can transcend even our deepest despair. Jesus' resurrection forms the basis of our Hope because in it God demonstrated His power over death. We may have learned a long time ago that hoping only brings disappointment. Our hopes were dashed. The promises we believed were broken. We were left feeling like fools for ever hoping in the first place. But perhaps we were devastated because we put our hope in the wrong place. Turning our life over to God means placing our Hope and confidence in Him instead of people, who will disappoint us. When we place all of our hope and trust in other people, it's like expecting a tree to flourish in a barren desert. People will disappoint us and are unable to satisfy our deepest needs. Trusting God changes everything. In John 4: 14 Jesus says "the water I give becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them eternal life." When our hope is in God and our life is in His care, we are sustained when we otherwise would be devastated. THURSDAY’S 7-9 pm
