Trust….Earlier today, I googled the word “trust.” It was a sobering experience. I was more than 20 pages into the results before meeting a single instance of trust in the sense of belief in something or someone. There were all types of financial trusts, businesses with “trust” in their names, companies eager to help you set up personal trusts, charitable trusts of every kind—but nothing about putting your trust in anything or anyone. When I did find an entry relating to trust in this common sense, it was about mistrust; a psychiatrist offering help for people whose trust had been abused through a bad choice or fraud! Trust is fundamental to life. If you cannot trust in anything, life becomes intolerable—a constant battle against paranoia and looming disaster. You can’t have relationships without trust, let alone good ones. The bible says…. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge God and he will make your pathway straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 I have quoted, taught and memorized this passage many years ago. It has occurred to me, that I can only trust God fully. He has the best interest at heart for me. He understands all my circumstances. He will be with me. That I can trust. Everything else is really extra. Today my friends, as we look into the fall season and begin another season at ALCC, let’s trust God to be with us. He is in control and has the best interest at heart for us. PBill & Kathy
This upcoming season we will be going through the book of Acts. The author of Luke is continuing the story of Jesus’ work displayed in His followers (Acts 1:1-3). But this isn’t truly about His apostles. This is about the one who was promised and spoken to be a gift: The Holy Spirit (John 14:15-17). We will be exploring the acts of the Holy Spirit, Himself. How He empowered Jesus’ followers then and today: us. The Holy Spirit displayed great power and EMPOWERED believers and isn’t that what we need in our lives? The personal conflicts, the decision making, the gifts to live abundantly and so much more. We will see how we are Spirit empowered to do Spirit living. This will take us a lifetime to learn and we will begin this journey together this fall until Easter. Learning and growing in the Spirit (Colossians 1:9-14). I’m excited. Are you?
