Cutting The Cost Of Composting Emergency Services Join Forces For Expo

If you are keen to begin composting as part of a clean and green lifestyle, Brisbane City Council is making it a lot more affordable to get started with the introduction of their compost rebate program.

Composting food scraps reduces household waste and greenhouse gas emissions. It also provides nutrient-rich materials for your garden or indoor plants. If you're keen to begin composting as part of a clean and green lifestyle, take advantage of the $70 rebate now available for buying composting equipment. Eligible compost equipment include:

• Compost bin or tumbler

• Compost aerator or drill

• Worm farm or tower

• In-ground composter or worm farm

• Bokashi composting system

• Compost monitoring device

You can purchase the equipment from any retailer or online platform, however purchases from second-hand distributors are excluded.

To claim your rebate, head to Council’s website www. brisbane.qld.gov.au/clean-and-green and follow prompts to the Composting Rebate page. You will need a copy of your receipt of purchase, your property address and your bank account details for the rebate to be refunded to.

Composting and worm farming are effective ways to produce rich compost for your garden while reducing food waste. So, head down to the shops and get composting!
