News from The Lions Club of Albany Creek

The National Lions Convention was held on the Gold Coast last month, where Lions from all over Australia gathered and many of our members attended.

Lions were entertained by exceptional guest speakers and both the ‘Youth of the Year’ and ‘Leo of the Year’ finals took place. These wonderful young people hold us in good stead for the future. The Lions family offer the opportunity for members to meet new friends, to travel far and wide and get involved with young folks. We also love to get involved helping our community where we can in a variety of projects and events. We work closely with Councillors and Community leaders who can assist us in finding local projects and those in our community who might need a hand from time to time.

If you think you would like to be part of our club and help your community along with enjoying our socials throughout the year, please contact either Membership Chairman, Graeme on 0408 374 719 or President Kaye on 0477 212 242 for more information. We would warmly welcome you into our Lions Family.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, the 1st being our Business Meeting at the Albany Creek Library and the 3rd is our dinner/social meeting where we meet at Hornets Football Club. We try to organise interesting guest speakers at this meeting as well as a little fun.

Last month, we learnt so much from our speaker Sandy Johnston, who represented the MBRC Recycling and Waste Management. There was so much we learnt about rubbish (who would have thought?!) and how to dispose of it thoughtfully.

We hope you remember that we are here to help if you need a hand, so please keep that in mind and give us a call.

Kaye Smith, President
