Firm Bio Husam Ghanim is a licensed Structural Engineer with over 12 years of experience. He has been involved in the design of many intricate and challenging structures. He has extensive experience in the design of tilt-up buildings, wood over podium, school projects, commercial and high end retail, soft story and seismic retrofit, laboratories, residential and hillside construction. Husam’s vast range of experience makes him a valuable part of the design team by providing creative and unique solutions that fit within the designer’s vision and are sensitive to the owner’s budget. Husam is also recognized as a leader and a mentor. He is a lecturer at California State University at Los Angeles, teaching courses such as Steel Design, Timber and Masonry Design. He also participates in the Structural Engineering Association of California as well as the California Emergency Management Agency as a structural specialist to be deployed after a disaster for reconnaissance and recovery. Teaching and attending professional development seminars allows Husam to keep his knowledge up to date, which makes sure his clients benefit from the technological advances in the field. Husam Ghanim started Husam Ghanim Structural Engineering (HGSE) to provide clients with high-quality service. HGSE knows that responsiveness and ingenuity are vital to the project’s success.

Target Fulfillment Center - Tucson, Arizona
This automated distribution center, which fulfills online sales, was the prototype for a series of national and regional distribution centers for Target Corporation. The 1 million sf tilt-up facility is located on a 99-acre site and anchors the 137-acre Rita Tech Park. The roof of the Target building encompasses 22 acres alone. Project done at a previous firm.

SVTC Studio Movie Grill at Simi Valley Town Center
Part of a multi-million dollar renovation of the outdoor shopping mall at the Simi Valley Town Center. The movie theater is the first Studio Movie Grill Theater in California and was intended to draw more business to the mall. The theater includes a full service dining experience as part of the attraction. Structurally, the building incorporates long span beams and a buckling restrained brace frame system made to resist seismic forces. These required close coordination between the design teams to avoid headroom issues and increased open space. Project done at a previous firm.

Conrad Hilton Foundation Campus - Agoura Hills, CA
The Conrad Hilton Foundation Campus is an incredible thoughtprovoking project that required intense coordination to meet the Foundation’s expectations. The Foundation describes the project best: “Our Agoura Hills home has been carefully designed as a cutting-edge, environmentally-sensitive and energy-efficient building that co-exists in harmony with the surrounding environment.” The framing was left exposed with no drop ceilings. This LEED Platinum project was challenging due to the fact that all plumbing, electrical and other miscellaneous items had to go through the steel floor rather than underneath it. The I-shaped steel beams were designed and detailed to take on many penetrations while minimizing depth and maintaining structural integrity. Project done at a previous firm.
