Firm Bio Husam Ghanim is a licensed Structural Engineer with over 12 years of experience. He has been involved in the design of many intricate and challenging structures. He has extensive experience in the design of tilt-up buildings, wood over podium, school projects, commercial and high end retail, soft story and seismic retrofit, laboratories, residential and hillside construction. Husam’s vast range of experience makes him a valuable part of the design team by providing creative and unique solutions that fit within the designer’s vision and are sensitive to the owner’s budget. Husam is also recognized as a leader and a mentor. He is a lecturer at California State University at Los Angeles, teaching courses such as Steel Design, Timber and Masonry Design. He also participates in the Structural Engineering Association of California as well as the California Emergency Management Agency as a structural specialist to be deployed after a disaster for reconnaissance and recovery. Teaching and attending professional development seminars allows Husam to keep his knowledge up to date, which makes sure his clients benefit from the technological advances in the field. Husam Ghanim started Husam Ghanim Structural Engineering (HGSE) to provide clients with high-quality service. HGSE knows that responsiveness and ingenuity are vital to the project’s success.

This building will be a 14,873 square foot, 2-story, 7 classroom building and will include a photo lab complete with a dark room and developing room; two media technology rooms with studio green screens; two computer labs; a painting/drawing room; and a critique room. Santa Monica College Media Center & IT Building
This project is a 14,060 sf addition for the existing Media Center, Information Technology and supporting services building. The new facility houses programming and technical staff and the main server room, providing access and reconfiguration capabilities to the existing Information Technology facility. University High School YMCA Building
The Westside Family YMCA and LA Unified are collaborating on a 60,000 sf YMCA facility that will serve the community as well as University High School students through a joint-use agreement. The new 2-level structure will mean additional space for the school to enhance physical education requirements and athletic programs. The new facility will include a gym, two multi-purpose rooms, a community room, and outdoor space on the roof for a walking track and a basketball court. Project done at a previous firm.
