It’s almost spring! Even though it’s been quite cold and rainy lately, I hope you all have managed to stay warm and dry during mid-winter break. It’s been a busy month with Division/District Judging Committee applications and District contests, so now is the time to reflect on your Key Club experience and get ready for a new term ahead!
To celebrate your accomplishments from the 2022-23 term. I highly encourage attending our District Convention (DCON). Held in Ontario, California from April 21st to 23rd, you still have time to register on time! Check out pages 34-35 for more information about registration and how to get into the DCON spirit.
A joint Conclave with D34S will be held on March 4th at Menlo-Atherton High School. Be sure to attend to learn about what the process of electing a Lieutenant Governor (LTG) is like, hear speeches from candidates, and vote for your next LTG. Page 28 has more details.

I hope February has been treating you well and hopefully you have shown and received lots of love from all of the people in your lives. My Valentine is all of you because I have a crush on your passion for service and Key Club ;).
Coming up very soon is our Conclave election which will be held at Menlo Atherton High School with D34S. I highly encourage you all to attend to see our next Lieutenant Governor and to support all of the candidates who have truly done a very brave act of running and sharing their passion and goals for our division.
DCON is also coming up as the Key Club term gets closer and closer to being done and I hope to see lots of you at DCON. If you have any questions or concerns about attending DCON please ask your club president and feel free to ask me as well! I think it's very important to come to DCON and cheer on our LTG elect as they get installed into the office of LTG. DCON is also the place where you will be recognized for all the hard work you've all put in this term and I know you guys will love it at DCON. Let's finish this year strong so we can transition into the next term effortlessly.

With the term coming to a close and club elections in progress, I hope you’re all finding time to take care of yourselves one way or another. I like to spend time driving around and looking for/at nice views or cuddling up with a book (I just finished Daisy Jones & the Six, and WHAT a BOOK!). Happy November (Turkey month woo!!). I hope October was a splendid month for everyone. There were a few district-wide events and I hope you all had fun there! From RTC (congrats to anyone who was in Gaea group for winning the spirit stick) to FRN, I had so much fun with you all. I’m also so proud that we got to round 3 of spirit battles (WHATTT) AQUA APES DOMINATE!! This month will be a good one and I hope you guys volunteer at many service events and be the good aqua apes you all are. Stay tuned for future, exciting events!

term is almost coming to a close. Please make sure if you haven't already to continue to submit those service hours and participate in Division events for those banana points. Keep preparing for DCON we are almost there!
The Love Our City: Beautification event was a great experience. With all the rain and floods at the beginning of January we didn’t think we’d be able to volunteer this month. But our Vice-President Skylar Dang was able to organize a large event with CYC and invite other clubs to come help out! Everyone was split into groups and accomplished different tasks. Our members for example cleaned up the natural debris left by trees and other plant life. “It was harder than regular cleanups,” a member said. But they’re still eager to keep volunteering.
During the 2023 Hot Chocolate Run, we were tasked with organizing the starting line. After checking in and receiving our gear, we followed the instructor to the starting line and received instructions to split up into groups of 2-3 to lead a letter section to the start line with rope when needed. We would start with leading the 5k distance runners and then return back to our original position to lead the 10k and 15k distance runners. After we had finished leading the runners, we were relocated to the finish line to pass out waters to the finishers. Once the final runners finished, we were given vouchers for hot chocolate and fondue and were free to leave.
AMY GUAN | JEFFERSONIt was a really fun event. Had to wake up so early but it was worth it. We were separated into groups and my group had a lot of fun volunteering. We were freestyling as we were waiting for the runners to come!!! In the end, we all got hot chocolate for free so it was a 10/10 volunteering event!

Our first food pantry of the year went very well. Due to the rainy weather and smaller amounts of food boxes, we moved to the upper parking lot to do food distributions. We had about three or four group stations, and we were able to move pretty quickly. Within my group, we split our tasks in giving out different categories of food to speed up the process and to make sure everyone had a role. I believe we did very well in regarding to communication and working together since we were able to distribute the items of food efficiently and were able to cover each other for the extra food we couldn't carry. When we were running low on food, we coordinated together to distribute less portions of food, so other families would still be able to have food. Everyone did well and were supportive of each other despite the gloomy weather.
At the food bank there were more people who volunteered than the last food bank. The food bank had more help and the weather was good than the last food bank. Everyone contributed and helped out for the food bank. There were new people who had no idea what to do since it was their first time and I ended up explaining to them what to do for the food bank. Everyone worked hard to help their community

I had a really amazing time at the January DCM! I always enjoy these DCMs because it gives me a chance to catch up with everyone in the division, people who I don't normally see on a daily basis. I enjoy the Key Club spirit that lingers in the air of the events; everyone is completing their service projects and donating money at the really awesome bake sale. I appreciated the project: decorating paper bags. I was able to creatively express myself and also felt that by decorating bags, I may be able to make someone's day! ANNABEL

On January 15th, we had a card-making event outside of the Belmont library. This card-making event was my favorite one yet! This was my first time attending an in-person craft event which a found a lot more enjoyable. We all brought unique art supplies from colorful tapes to scissors that cut out cool shapes. In the end, we gathered our cards to get them ready for shipping and sipped on hot cocoa.
The Holiday Movie for PTP fundraiser was an in-person event held on January 29, 2023. After having a chance to be recognized at the End of Semester Celebration, Carlmont Key Clubbers were able to come together to support PTP (the Pediatric Trauma Program) and watch a movie together. The movie that was selected was Big Hero Six, and it was a good family-friendly movie that I enjoyed watching. We had popcorn, pizza, and hot chocolate during the event, and it was nice to be able to talk and connect with other Key Clubbers as well. Overall, this was a very fun event that I would highly recommend!

The Spotlight on Service Program is a CNH program designed to promote the service goals of the CNH District. By focusing on different themes each month, clubs are able to host a variety of service, social, and fundraising events that all go towards important causes in the community.
The Kiwanis Children’s Fund is used to fund various programs and initiatives involving Kiwanis and Key Clubs. Scholarships for members and grants for individual clubs are awarded through this fund as well. The goal is to provide assistance for children in need to brighten their lives and ensure a better future.

January’s SOSP focused on the Children’s Miracle Network and helping children in need. Carlmont took their PTP Fundraiser to the January D34 Kiwanis DCM to raise donations for the Pediatric Trauma Program, a part of the Children’s Miracle Network. They raised a total of $360 from fellow Kiwanians and gave out handmade bracelets in exchange for a minimum $5 donation to the fundraiser.
Planning a service/social/fundraising project for February’s SOSP (The Children’s Fund) & submitting it to the district can get your club 15 banana points!
Some project ideas include:

For your SOSP project to be featured in the next newsletter, make sure to submit articles & visuals from your project to either the early-bird (10th @6pm) or on-time (15th @6pm) deadline.

Conclave is an annual event where the LTG for the upcoming term is elected! There is a maximum of 2 delegates per club (and a minimum of 1) who will vote in the election on behalf of their club members. Delegates must be dues-paid members.

Aragon is currently focusing on club elections for the month of February. They will take place over the course of two weeks and we will begin training the officer elects soon afterwards. We hope they'll be able to begin their respective duties at the start of the new term and before the school year ends. We are very excited for conclave next month and will also begin informing members and preparing two delegates to attend and vote for the next lieutenant governor.
In the month of January, Balboa Key Club was busy getting the hang of the ins and outs of Key Club. After getting a thorough understanding of how we should run the club with the help of our LTG and other supportive members of the community; we held a board meeting to give our input on how we should run this club. We held a meeting on an irregular day due to the lack of Mondays we had at school in January. Unsurprisingly, many members attended. With such little time left in the month we planned an event as soon as we could, thanks to our experienced event planner Skylar Dang. With the help of CYC and Balboa Red Cross, we beautified the community surrounding Balboa High School. Though we didn't do much this month, we're confident that we can do better.
Over the past month of January, Carlmont held 14 different service events which included our monthly school clean-up, painting rocks, writing letters to Ukrainian refugees, and more. We also held an End-Of-Semester Celebration to recognized our distinguished members from the first semester and had a PTP fundraiser where we watched a movie afterwards. Many members were successfully able to gain service hours in their last stretch to complete their hours for the MRP. In February, we plan to continue with both our in-person and Zoom events and have quite a few Valentine's Day-themed events coming up. Additionally, Carlmont also just hosted their officer elections and has elected their board for the 2022-2023 term! For the remainder of February, we will be focusing on training our new officers and the application process to fill our committees and their members. We are super excited to finish this term off strong!
In the month of January officers continued to host weekly club meetings, prepare for club elections, and continue doing their duties. We also hosted a club fair where many people were interested in joining the club. Currently we are working to host a club election and prepare the new officers.
During the month of January, our Notre Dame Key Club picked back up with our board and club meetings. We had stopped our bi-weekly meetings over winter break and picked back up now that we are back in school. We included service projects in those meetings to allow our members to participate in service projects during the school day. We also hosted the DCM on January 21st and decorated paper lunch bags for meals on wheels. Some of our members got to attend their first DCM which was fun for them.
