I hope you guys had a great time at our August DCM! Hopefully you all met a lot of new people and friends and enjoyed our surprise! I saw lots of you do well at our second Aqua Skate night, but I also saw some of you struggle, including myself... but that just means we have room for improvement!

I can't wait for what this school year holds for all of us, and I especially can't wait to see all of you at RTC and FRN! These events are extremely fun and if you attend, you will fall in love with Key Club and be stuck in it till you graduate! I promise! Good luck with this new and fresh school year and I wish you all the best!

Surfing the Waves of Service, Hey Aqua Apes!

I can't believe school has already started! All of our activities during the summer really made everything fly by! I hope all of your back-to-school days went well and you got to see all of your favorite teachers and friends. Now that school has started, Key Club is going to start getting busier and busier, one of my favorite things happens during this time, can you guess what it is? DUES! Now that dues season is coming up, let's make sure to ask our club treasurers about what dues are and how to pay!

I hope school has been well for all of you guys. I don't know when all of your guys' club rushes are, but I hope you guys have been promoting and recruiting for Key Club! What do you guys think about the theme for this year's RTC? I love it very much considering I am a greek mythology nerd (yes.. I read Percy Jackson when I was little and kept reading about mythologies afterward.) Now that most of us have officially transitioned into the school year, get ready for upcoming Key Club events! I can't wait to see more of you guys and interact more. Stay safe everyone! Don't stress yourself out too much with this school year.

EA

Hey guys!

I hope school is going well for everyone! It was nice seeing everyone at the August DCM. Hopefully, you guys are starting the school year out strong! Let's destroy the division and district goals by attending as many service events as we can.

Hey Aqua Apes!

I hope that your first month of school went well. School can be a pain sometimes, but I bet you guys will be fine! Many club fairs should be coming up soon, so make sure you are prepping your clubs for that. Of course, planning service and events are crucial as well to get all your members excited, so they can stay much longer. Also during these times, make sure to record some articles and visuals to gain lots of banana points! Anyways, continue to attend many events and participate in fundraisers so we can reach our division goals. If you need anything, reach out to me anytime!

The Interclub with Hillsdale and Sequoia was a fun and social event where we filled pencil cases with generic school supplies and little encouraging notes. We also were able to decorate some notecards for teachers, librarians, custodians, and anyone else who works at our local schools. My friend Grace and I planned this event and we really enjoyed collaborating with the other school’s Key Clubs and meeting new people. It was nice to talk to people with a common interest and love working with Key Club. I also thought this interclub was a great way to make a bigger and more impactful donation. I can’t wait to do more interclubs in the future!

SARA WILKINSON | CARLMONT

Sequoia's Key Club participated in an interclub event with Carlmont and Hillsdale. The service event was on July 30 from 1 PM to 3 PM. Each school brought materials such as pencils, highlighters, scissors, etc. We then put them into pencil pouches for incoming students to have what they need for the upcoming school year. Additionally, we added notes of inspiration and kindness.

PEDIATRIC

The Spotlight on Service Program is a CNH program designed to promote the service goals of the CNH District. By focusing on different themes each month, clubs are able to host a variety of service, social, and fundraising events that all go towards important causes in the community.

The Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) is a CNH established organization that works to reduce the number of children killed or injured by trauma. Support PTP this month by spreading awareness and hosting/participating in fundraisers for this important cause. Check page 24 for some ideas for fundraisers!

In July, Key Clubbers focused on protecting the environment through their service projects. Check out how these two clubs made sure their communities are staying healthy and clean!

The beach clean up was very fun and it felt good that I was helping the community the best I could. Doing it with my friends was especially fun but it was sad to see how dirty the beach can be. It’d be nicer if people can throw their trash away properly.

CHOON LOO | WESTMOOR

Westmoor and Jefferson hosted an interclub event where they picked up trash from a nearby beach!

24 Planning a service/social/fundraising project for September’s SOSP (Pediatric Trauma Program) & submitting it to the district can get your club 15 banana points! Some fundraiser ideas include: ● Bake Sales ● Raffles ● Boba Places or Food Chains ● Garage Sales ARTICLES & VISUALS For your SOSP project to be featured in the next newsletter, make sure to submit articles & visuals from your project to either the early-bird (10th @6pm) or on-time (15th @6pm) deadline.

ARAGON

While Aragon did not host any service events in August quite yet, Aragon key club is currently preparing for the aqua skate night during this month, and have prepared a service event in the form of a beach cleanup in foster city. Our members had fun at the KCTC. As we're getting back into school, key clubbers are still finding ways to connect with both current members, and maybe potentially new ones as well and help the community through service. As summer has now ended, Aragon officers are ready with new ideas for the upcoming school year, and of course club rush!

CARLMONT

This July, Carlmont Key Club hosted a total of 7 service events, as well as a guest speaker at one of our club meetings. Many members attended division events including the D34N Aqua Skate Night, as well as the July DCM, where Carlmont was awarded Club of the Month and Carlmont's Vice President Katarina Povinec was awarded Officer of the Month! In addition, some of our members attended the July D34 Kiwanis DCM and ICON virtually. Our service events were made up of a mix of both in-person and virtual events, and we are continuing with this format in August. We will resume our weekly club meetings at school. We plan to continue to attend division events, gain members through clubs fair, and host a variety of exciting service events throughout the upcoming school year!

In the past month, El Camino has participated in many service events such as an interclub with South City for a park clean-up as well as an interclub with Lowell and Jefferson for a marathon. Additionally, the club has been invited to a garage sale with kiwanis, so officers are preparing to help out with that. As the school year goes by, the board is preparing hard for a successful club rush.

28

EL CAMINO

This past month officers and members attended events such as our School Supply Kits interclub where we prepared pencil pouches to donate to local children as well as our Beresford Cleanup event. We are continuing to hold board meetings and are set to begin our standard school year general meetings. We also set our goals for the term and have begun planning for our upcoming club fair and inteclubs with Aragon, San Mateo, and Sequoia.

MILLS

WESTMOOR

This month, Mills Key Club had its first meeting with our new EA, Angela, and LTG, John, to discuss goals for the future and plans for activities. The Mills Board also had our first meeting of the school year to discuss plans to recruit new members for our club fair. In addition to this, our club president, Risca Li, was elected as a Division Service and Fundraising Committee member. Currently, we are working on setting up for our upcoming club fair and getting our club more engaged. We are also excited to collaborate with Sequoia's Key Club for an upcoming service/fundraising event in Redwood City!

For the past month, we have successfully hosted an inter-club beach clean-up event with Jefferson High School's Key Club. We also are in the process of promoting our clubs and getting ideas of how to promote them.
