The Tavistock Cup returns to Isleworth March 22 and 23, marking the fourth time the tournament will be contested on Isleworth’s golf course in seven years. event for me because it was “The 2006 Tavistock Cup was a very memorable right after I moved into my new home in Isleworth.” - Kay Gibbs
“I love to entertain during the Tavistock Cup and invite business associates and family members who like golf to my home during the tournament. My home is on the 7th tee, so we have a good view of all the player action. After all the players have passed the house, we meet up at the 18th hole to watch the players come through and enjoy the festivities there.” - Deb Linden
“My husband and I both went to school at Indiana State University. For the last two years, we’ve hosted 10 of the Indiana State University Foundation’s board members. This year the university president is coming. Sharing the entire Tavistock experience with them has been great fun. It’s something they don’t see every day, and they are so excited to participate.” - Linda Pellegrini

spring 2010 TREND REPORT provided by
THE MALL AT MILLENIA
This spring the catwalks hummed a lovely tune as they channeled a lively renewal. Melodic draping, graphic prints, technical cuts, and super-charged shapes soared in pure white and sea blue, while nostalgic favorites like florals and denim remained abundantly strong. Simple staples—often boring and blasé—were given their just dues when paired with bolder accents like beaded tunics, bib necklaces, and stacked heels. And for him? Look no further than the long and lean silhouettes of eras past with narrow suits, fitted jackets, sleek denim, and smart accessories.
Sherbet colors are like any neutral, easy to pair, play, and perfect when layering with accessories. Take this basic and turn it into a stylized look with a poppy polka dot print or wear it under a work suit for an extra bit of verve. Merino ethereal ruffle cardigan J Crew These aren’t your ordinary blues, boys. This spring go a few steps further with fantastic shapes and washes like this medium charcoal grey. The studded pockets offer just enough edge, while the wash carries them from day-todinner with a quick switch of your jacket.
Draping never looked so lovely. Supporting the feminine shapes of a shift, BCBG takes the mini to new heights with soft folds and a sultry slit. From BCBG’s RTW Spring runway collection
Even a classic bomber jacket can look new when reworked in soft embossed leather. Here Salvatore Ferragamo channels James Bond’s smooth sophistication in tone-on-tone, typical Italian fashion.
Jack Silverado jean True Religion These shades are made infinitely more interesting when re-tooled in white with silver accents. Add in unique side-arm styling and you’ve created a modern twist on a classic shape. Ginger oversized sunglasses Louis Vuitton Ask any girl what her go-to accessory is and she’ll likely say jewelry. Which might be why the baubles are especially bountiful this season. Here genius gems in the form of earrings suggest that fancy can always be fun. Inde Mystérieuse earrings Cartier

Throwback styles offer men sleek alternatives to the typical suiting. Here, Gucci goes further with an all-white ensemble. Add this graphic, patterned shirt, and you’ve got a playful pop of color. From Gucci’s RTW spring runway collection
Picnic or park stroll? Interesting shapes and cutouts transform this ordinary maxi into extraordinary. Pair this with last season’s thong sandals for city dates, and an oversized straw hat for pool or beach excursion. From Gucci’s RTW Spring runway collection The most profound piece this season is the shoe. Whether it’s a heel, wedge or bootie, spring is all about being stacked and strapped in. Accessories are more than an afterthought this season, especially handbags decorated with chains and studs, and crafted out of textured skins and leathers.

Protecting What You
Cherish VARDA’s online lifestyle and home management technology gives property owners peace of mind Living the good life can be a complicated task. Jeff Searles has witnessed plenty of successful individuals lose their prized possessions to unusual mishaps over the years. Just as many experience constant frustration related to the ongoing management of their homes. When a custom security gate broke at an executive’s Malibu vacation home, no one knew who to call to repair it, leaving people locked in and out of the property for several days. “The repair process became a nightmare simply because they didn’t have the initial purchase and installation information available,” Searles said. Another executive saw his reclaimed European castle wood floors destroyed after a security company mistakenly drilled holes into the radiant floor heating pipes while installing high-tech floor sensors. “This unfortunate event happened because the homeowner could not locate the home’s plans for the security company to reference,” he said. After watching several affluent individuals struggle through chaotic events like these, Searles came up with an interesting solution — a lifestyle management application that would enable high-net worth individuals to store all information about their home and associated assets in a secure and convenient location online. Searles’ idea quickly developed into what is now VARDA, a San Francisco-based company that has more than 30 employees and several prominent clients, including YouTube co-founder Steve Chen. “At first glance, I thought VARDA was an asset management company, but then I realized that it was so much more than that,” Chen said. “The technology they’ve developed is truly going to change people’s lives with how they manage their home(s) and personal assets.”
VARDA captures and catalogues extremely detailed information on an individual’s homes, cars, boats, furnishings, fine art, jewelry and electronics with photos, videos, descriptions, interactive floor plans, users’ manuals and asset values, and then makes it available instantly through a secure web-based platform. “VARDA is like an online owner’s manual for any and all of your assets, easily accessible at anytime and by anyone that you grant access to as long as you have connectivity to the Internet,” said Searles, the company’s founder and CEO. VARDA’s applications can come in handy in a number of situations, especially natural disasters. “Your vacation residence is destroyed in a hurricane, and the insurance adjuster is asking you to provide a list of contents in that house as a basis for your insurance contents claim. How are you going to remember everything that was in the house, including the make, model and description of each item?” Searles said. VARDA is so user-friendly that new clients can easily document their homes and assets on their own. But many clients leave the task to a VARDA representative. “VARDA provides a white-glove service, handling the entire documentation of a client’s home and associated assets, including taking photographs, uploading owner’s manuals and purchase receipts, and inputting all relevant information,” said Joel Norsworthy, VARDA’s vice president of sales. VARDA offers a tiered pricing system that starts with an upfront commitment of $2,500 for one home, plus a $175 monthly maintenance fee. For a limited time, VARDA is offering Isleworth Living readers a special discount, which you can view by visiting the link below.

Labor of Love In 1992, Isleworth residents Dick and Mary Nunis acquired a bullet-pocked 1939 Cadillac 75 series convertible coupe. It was one of only five left in the world. Three years and 2,000 hours of work later, the antique automobile was restored to its former glory. The bullet holes are patched over now. The chrome is smooth and bright. The stitching on the authentic leather interior is just as it was the day the car was built.

Year after year, the Nunis’ vintage vehicle snags multiple awards to the credit of auto restoration specialist Steve Cooley Motors, Inc. While the Cooley restoration business has been around since the 1950s, owner Steve Cooley Jr. has been rebuilding classic cars for much longer than that. “I’ve been doing car restoration all my life and went fulltime with my dad in 1973,” Cooley said.

While he’ll never part with that classic model, the Isleworth resident has been known to donate automobiles from his personal collection. “I have given the Antique Automobile Club of America museum a lot of cars,” he said. “One is a 1954 Corvette, documented as one of four original black cars. A very special donation was a 1941 Valentine roadside diner that’s on display there.” All three classic car enthusiasts have criss-crossed the country in their mint-
“Everything has to be documented to get the car back to its original condition — colors, parts, fabrics, bolts and screws all have to be from that era. ” Cooley said. “That’s what you have to do to compete at the top level.” Hiring Steve Cooley Motors to restore their classic Cadillac is the best decision they’ve ever made, the Nunis’ say. “I’ve shown the car at different events, and it always wins,” Dick Nunis said. “We just want to get it in the top shows and eventually hope to just drive it for fun.”

New Seafood Spot Makes Splash Big Fin Draws Big Following
Big Fin Seafood Kitchen brings the New England and New Orleans fish house experience to Orlando, delivering an upscale dining experience in an inexpensive and unconventional way. Rock music, a rotating stainless steel globe, and indoor and outdoor bars mixing up specialty martinis give Big Fin a high-energy atmosphere. Murals of a 10-foot crab, a 15-foot lobster and dozens of trophy fish line the walls of this 11,000-square-foot restaurant. “When you walk in the front door, you immediately see chefs shucking oysters, cracking lobsters and making ceviches,” said Big Fin owner Bobby Moore. It’s not just for show. Big Fin serves 400 to 600 oysters daily and more than 500 1½ to five-pound lobsters weekly.
as many items come in both appetizer and entrée portions. Steaks, lamb chops and gumbo round out the menu. Open since December 2009, Big Fin already has legions of loyal patrons. Regulars pack the house most nights of the week, particularly Monday evenings when Big Fin features a $13.95 1½ pound Whole Maine Lobster special. No stranger to the restaurant business, Moore has been creating dining concepts for the last 37 years. His first was a neighborhood bar in a Detroit suburb that he bought at the age of 20. He

Moore also made a name for himself on the local dining scene with a former Race Rock location on International Drive and Winter Park’s upscale seafood restaurant Beluga, which he closed last summer. Moore has had business interests outside of the restaurant industry, including 14 years as an elephant owner and trainer. After amassing 13 elephants, Moore was considered one of the top elephant trainers in the world. In 1992, he sold his elephants to Ringling Bros Circus and promptly opened Race Rock in Detroit. In 1996, Moore opened Race Rock’s Orlando location. Big Fin is an amalgamation of the best components of all his restaurant concepts, he said. “I’ve been serving the same swordfish dish at my restaurants since 1976,” he said. “It has always been the number-one selling item and continues to
