LETTER FROM YOUR LTG | 02
What’s Poppin’ Division 30 South, By the time that you read this, Fall Rally South has happened and I’ve been filled with so much happiness and pride to be a DIVISION 30 SOUTH SUN! WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK AYY WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK! To all the suns who came out to Fall Rally South this year to cheer their hearts out, thank you for putting in your all that Saturday morning. Seeing you all in the stands with your bright, yellow spirit gear reminds me that I truly am the luckiest Lieutenant Governor. BUT, the end of Fall Rally South season DOES NOT our term. We still have 4 months left and I promise to make the next 4 months the best ones yet! One of the events coming up is Keys-Giving, one of my favorites, if not my favorite event from freshman year. By the time you read this, the event will likely be over, but I’m hoping that your experience was just as good as my mine. On top of that, Division 30 South is hosting their first annual Night Market at Anaheim High School! All of the clubs will be selling food items, where all the profits will be going to the Pediatric Trauma Program. It will be on December 18th at 5-8 PM, so come out to support one of our main charities and for a memorable experience. In all, I can never thank you enough for making a huge impact on your community. Division 30 South serving you as your Lieutenant Governor for the past 11 months have been absolutely surreal and I can’t wait for what the next 4 months holds for us <3 Shinin’ with Service,

The CNH Spotlight on Service Program (SOSP) was created by the Service Projects Committee to promote District and International Initiatives as well as to encourage active participation with organizations and initiatives. Monthly guides include tips and ideas on how clubs can complete the monthly service initiatives. The program also gives clubs the opportunity to showcase their unique service projects that positively impact their home, school, and community. The Spotlight on Service Program would love to receive project submissions from the District to showcase projects from the previous month in the District Newsletter. potion making social
The potion making social was a really fun event that was held this October. I got to meet many of the new members from our club and from ARK as well. It was a fun way to get the halloween spirit going and to get some service hours as well. To start we made cool potions with basic supplies. It was great to see all the members bonding over a fun and simple activity. Many of the creations led to new friendships within our club. Not only did we get to make fun potions, but there was also a fun opportunity to get service hours. We made dog toys out of fabric to donate to our local dog shelter. It was great seeing our members and board being able to serve while at a fun social! We were also able to have fun spooky grams available which made the social more enjoyable! Overall I enjoyed this social a lot and would love to have something similar in the future!

My red plaid pants clashed with the bright yellow volunteer t-shirt that read “OC Japan Fair STAFF”. Through this questionable color combination for fashion, I proudly served the Orange County community for seven hours of my day alongside fellow Whitney and Division 30 South Key Clubbers. We first assisted vendors and game booths by collecting money and distributing prizes. One of these booths was a shooting game in which a small cork was loaded into a wooden pistol and shot at targets on a table; the player was allowed to keep whichever prize was hit. We then monitored the number of people going in and out of the inside plaza, having one person record each using the calculator app on our phones. Towards the end of the night, we downloaded an app and logged in with the OC Japan Fair credentials to scan tickets of attendees upon entering. Of course, we were given breaks to enjoy the festivities and Japanese culture of the fair. The first course of action was to divide and conquer the variety of food trucks stationed across the venue. We congregated at a table and enjoyed boba, delicious chicken mochi skewers, and other meals and desserts while socializing. We then explored the different booths of the inside and outside venue, looking through the various merchandise being sold such as homemade candles, apparel and stickers with Japanese characters and writing, colorful crocheted animals, and Pokemon plushies. It was definitely hard to resist buying anything and everything from this fair as a souvenir! Walking around, the maid cafe and the multiple cosplays (Animal Crossing’s Isabelle and Demon Slayer’s Urokodaki, Shinobu, and Inosuke) were super fun and interesting to see! OC Japan Fair surely put my Japanese speaking and comprehension skills to the test, and I must say I am very rusty. Nevertheless, I enjoyed spending my Friday afternoon to night helping the Japanese community of Orange County achieve a successful fair. If you are interested in Japanese culture, definitely attend this annual event! Lastly, make sure to check out our vlog for this service event on our Instagram!

october food bank
October Food Bank took place on October 30 at 7:30AM-11:30AM at one of our division’s own, Western High School. The event was held with Saddleback Church’s grocery distribution, where volunteers had the opportunity to help out with various activities. Those who were 16 or older filled out check in forms for the cars lined up and others helped to package and pass out various donation items into the cars. Overall, this event was very fun and successful with 29 members and 108 hours, so thank you to everyone who attended and helped out! Food banks are semi-regular events, so if you’re interested in attending be sure to keep an eye out for future RSVPs!

SPIRITrecap NIGHT Hey Suns! As we approach the long-awaited Fall Rally South, there are some very important meetings that lead up to this amazing event. As you all may already know, these meetings are known as Spirit Nights! These events are so vital, that it’s REQUIRED to attend 3 of the 4 Spirit Nights. Here’s a recap of what happened at the second Spirit Night of the 2021-2022 term. Spirit Night #2 was at Twila Reed Park from 4-7PM on October 30, 2021, which just so happened to be the day before Halloween. This coincidence (or was it 🤔 ) made this Spirit Night even more memorable because a lot of Suns came in cool costumes and makeup! While I was checking in people, I was continuously amazed at how creative and detailed the costumes were. There were also some fundraisers that occurred at Spirit Night #2, which made the event even better as OAKC sold boba!! So, to anyone who’s reading this, please thank our lovely Treasurer, Leann Vo, right for having another amazing fundraiser. After most of the Suns who came to Spirit Night checked in, the KEY part of the event began, which was the teaching of the Round 2 Cheers! As one a part of this term’s Spirit Committee, I was one of the Suns who taught a group these cheers. It was very fun to teach these cheers, since our DLT Spirit Coordinators did an amazing job creating them. Another reason why it was fun to teach these cheers was because my group was engaged and tried their best to get these 4 cheers down as soon as they could. Shoutout to Group 2!! Best group in my humble and totally not biased opinion. Once the cheers were learned and practiced as much as they could, we took a quick break to support the Key Clubs that had fundraisers. Then, the Halloween costume contest began! It was quite the fashion show to watch, as there was great background music and creative costumes to watch. I enjoyed the group costumes especially since their interactions were funny to watch while they presented themselves in front of everyone. The next thing on the agenda was to go back into the groups that everyone was in to learn the Round 2 cheers to practice them some more. It was important to review them, since the following activity was a Cauldron Puzzle involving all the cheers! Every group received 2 bags: one with cut-out pieces of all the Round 1 Cheers and the other with cut-out pieces of all the Round 2 Cheers. Then, all the groups had two rounds of competition to see who could construct the cheers from either Round 1 or Round 2 from the cut-up pieces in each bag the fastest. Sadly, Group 2 didn’t win either round, but in my mind, we won both of them.

Finally, we ended this fun night with a group photo. It took a little bit of time and effort for everyone to get into the photo since so many Suns showed up! Sometimes, sacrifices need to be made as a result of so much success. After the group photo, it was a chaotic crowd of people calling their rides home, selling leftover food from the fundraisers, and tearing down tables and chairs. All in all, Spirit Night #2 was a successful event! It was very enjoyable even though it was a little chilly, and the hype for Fall Rally is slowly increasing as we get closer to November 13th!
SUPERHERO-TC october dcm r e c a p
On Saturday, October 16th at Bolsa Grande High School, Region 3 held their annual RTC (Regional Training Conference)! During this time, members from all seven divisions of Region 3, Division 30 South being one of them, come together and attend numerous workshop in order to gain more knowledge on leadership, communication, stress management, and a variety of other helpful skills. Along with these informational workshops, each division also held their own October DCMs where members got notified about updates and recognition. To begin the entirety of day, the divisions showcased all of their spirit cheers. It was a very new experience for me but it was actually quite enjoyable. Our division was able to win the spirit stick which had us very elated. Following that, we had a guest motivational speaker come to talk to all the members. He was also actually a past LTG of Division 30 South, so hearing his story and how Key Club had an Impact on his life was very inspiring to me along with many others. Beginning a new session after a lunch break was the October DCM. There were many updates give along ongoing/ future fundraisers that would be towards one of our preferred charities, PTP. Along with that came recognition in which I’m happy to say that I got Secretary of the Month! It was honestly quite unexpected, but I am very glad that I was able to receive such an award. In addition to the DCM came the beginning of the training session containing the workshops. There were many categories in which each workshop specialized in and they were open for anyone to join. I have heard that they were extremely informational and helpful. In all, this event was a success and I had a good time being able to also see members from other divisions throughout the region.

13 | CLUB SPOTLIGHT: SAVANNA
SAVANNA KEY CLUB
PRESIDENT’S PROFILE name: DANIEL BOULOM school: SAVANNA KEY CLUB class: 2022 HEY D30S! You may have seen me last year as an Executive Assistant, but this term I serve as my home club’s President. I am a [current/rising] [junior/senior] and have been a part of the Kiwanis family for 3 years now. I joined Key Club quite late into my high school career, but I’ve since then grown to have such passion and love for the organization, and I hope you can feel the same too!
- fun facts -
1. My go-to order at 7Leaves is Japanese Matcha Soy Tea with Honey Boba. 2. I am a fall aficionado and love everything about it (my favorite holiday is Halloween). 3. My MBTI, Enneagram Type, and Horoscope are ENFP, 7w6, and Gemini!
what are your goals for the 2021-2022 term? Since I’ve had to work to help rebuild my club after the Pandemic, my biggest goal for my term is to inspire future leaders to serve after me by finding and helping them to realize their potential (as I’ve mentioned in other responses). I know that goal isn’t exactly quantifiable and I should probably be focusing on service and fundraising instead, but I am extremely proud of the progress I’ve been able to make.
what legacy do you want to leave behind?
Simply put, I hope to inspire underclassmen to pursue Key Club and become future student leaders after I am gone. I’ve already met some potential leaders, and they all make me so proud of being President and serving Savanna Key Club.
why did you join key club? As a freshman, I was intimated by the upperclassmens’ spirit, so I actually didn’t join until my sophomore year because one of my friends made me. My first Key Club event was September DCM, and I immediately felt like I was a part of something special, and I was! It was amazing to see Key Clubbers from so many schools around Orange County. Upon learning more about Key Club, I knew that this was THE activity I wanted to do in high school. It encompasses so many things I wanted to do: service, fundraising, leadership opportunities, and opportunities to earn awards. Key Club has it all!
when was your key club moment? Fall Rally South 2019! There’s a reason why Fall Rally South is THE Key Club moment for everyone who comes. Seeing divisions from all around California with different colors and mascots made me feel like a kid in a candy store. It was so fun and inviting, and I knew that the moment I stepped out of Six Flags, I wanted to do something bigger within this wonderful organization. Please go to Fall Rally if you haven’t done so. It’s expensive, but you will make so many wonderful memories.
SAVANNA KEY CLUB snapshot
For the month of October, Savanna Key Club had another steady increase in service hours and overall involvement, was able to recognize several members for their continuous dedication, and increased their board by 5 officers to improve publicity and member relations. The Club has also created a Holiday Grams fundraiser to build winter spirit by providing students the opportunity to support the club and send a sweet gift to themselves or to a friend. They are almost hosting a Book Drive in which members can donate books which will be sent to the organization “Kids Need to Read” in Arizona. In December, SKC is also preparing for President/VP elections with some pretty sweet candidates on the way! Savanna Key Club is proud of the accomplishments they have made throughout the term given the circumstances and they can’t wait to see what happens next.
KEEP UP WITH SAVANNA! CONTACT THE PRESIDENT!

Natalie Sheng | Executive Assistant

I’d be the hilarious comedic relief side character just because I’m so funny! Either that or I’d be the well known main character, Bella Swan, from the iconic teen romance film series Twilight.
I would want to be Teruhashi from Saiki K because it's one of my favorite shows at the moment and she is a really cute character! I also think it would be really fun to live in a world where people have psychic powers.
Helen Tran | Executive Assistant
Sofia Ysabel Gange | Fundraising Coordinator
if i were a character, i would probably be madoka kaname because i feel that we have relatively similar ideals, and madoka magica has been one of my most favorite animes ever.
I would be Tina Belcher from Bob's Burgers. Even though she has these weird obsessions, she isn't afraid to be herself.
Sania Usmani | Executive Assistant
Anika Kasula | Fundraising Coordinator
I think I'd want to be Jackie from That 70's Show even though she can be annoying at times her outfits are so cute LOL

Mia McMurray | Spirit Coordinator
And If I were a character in a show I would want to be the main character’s best friend because I would probably experience the funniest/dramatic moments without them having to actually be about me. (And if I died it would be a big part of the main character’s development and they might try to avenge my memory so I’m still relevant to the story >:)
I would love to be a character who attends UA in the My Hero Academia universe.
Joanne Lee | Historian
Megan Tran | Spirit Coordinator
baljeet from phineas and ferb. that's all i ever want in life.
If I were a character in movie, I would be be Nick Wilde from Zootopia because we are both super funny, charismatic, and attractive.

I'd probably be Toru Hagakure from Boko No Hero Academia (My Hero Academia). She's literally invisible, but generally a fun and cheerful person!
Sirius Black from "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"
Tina Tran | Tech Editor
Allan James Quintos | Member Recognition Chair
I would want to be Cher Horowitz because she is a rich pretty baddie with a cute boyfriend.
