A LETTER FROM YOUR

division news editor Hello Suns!

Fall Rally is right around the corner! And you know what else is waiting later in the month? Thanksgiving! Although my favorite holiday is Christmas, I also really like Thanksgiving because it reminds me of how lucky I am to be surrounded by loving friends and family. I tend to forget that there are a lot of people out there who don’t have access to the things I have due to my hectic life, so I’m glad that I have the time to reflect during Thanksgiving. I hope to accomplish even more as the end of the term rapidly approaches. It’s hard to believe that the end of the first semester is right around the corner. It’s a little scary when you realize that midterms are also right around the corner. For many seniors, November is probably the most stressful month because of college apps.. but don’t let that stop you from serving! And as always, keep shining Suns!

A LETTER FROM YOUR

lieutenant governor

What’s Poppin’ 30 South! It's the season of giving and thankfulness, and I'm most thankful for you all! I don't know about you, but Fall is my favorite time of the year (along with winter). There is no better way to spend it that volunteering with your local community and making an impact in the season of giving! Not only that, but it's time to truly let your sun pride shine. Fall Rally South is just around the corner and to prepare for it, we have 4 spirit nights this year with themes ranging from "Spooky Suns" to "Fall Rally Eve". I can't wait to see you all at these amazing events. Sadly, we are 6 months into the term! This is a reminder to make this YOUR term, make your impact and leave the legacy you want to be remembered for in you club, community, division, and district. As always, feel free to reach out to me through email or Facebook, I love meeting the reasons this division is so great. Have a great holiday Suns!

SEPTEMBER DCM: EX

X-SCAV-AGANZA Brianna Ong || Oxford Academy

September DCM was a blast! This DCM was by far one of the most fun DCMs, and I really enjoyed it because it was so interactive. To begin the DCM, LTG Anjika and Josh gave their updates. We then moved on to recognition (congratulations to Oxford Academy Key Club for 5th Shining Club of the Month and to Mai-Vy for earning Secretary of the Month)! Then, we had icebreakers; the spirit coordinators split the attendees into groups according to birthday months, and we then had a riff off, where we had to sing songs containing a specific word. We also played rock-paper-dragon, which is basically rock-paperscissors but losers go behind the winners, forming a gigantic line. Afterward, Key Clubbers from Division 30 South and Division 4 West were randomly placed in groups of eight. I met a lot of people from other schools and had a great time completing the scavenger hunt with them! For the scavenger hunt, teams had to complete different tasks together for 45 minutes, which included various tasks, trivia questions, and riddles. I really enjoyed this DCM because I had a lot of time to bond with different people. We had so much fun completing tasks like recreating vines, creating lip sync videos and doing the shoot dance challenge. I had a great time at the September DCM and highly encourage other Key Clubbers to attend other DCMs!

OC Brain Tumor Walk

Vivian Dinh || Katella As the sun rose on September 15th, I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and prepared to give back to my community. The sun felt extra warm on my skin as I stepped outside with the division drawstring decorating my back. The OC Brain Tumor Walk is one of the closest events that Katella loves to volunteer at. Not only does it deepen our connection with Anaheim and its community, but it also makes us aware of families and individuals who have struggled. This event allows them to portray their strength and march in memory of their loved ones.

I was a part of the setup as well as the cheer team. My favorite part of this was witnessing the faces of the walkers light up at the words of encouragement. It’s the events like these that remind me of why I joined Key Club in the first place. Being a part of this event made me feel proud to be a part of a bigger community. Knowing that Katella Key Club was a part of someone’s journey to support themselves and/or their loved ones has been etched in the hearts of our members, including myself! While some of us may have sweltered under the blazing sun, the smiles of the walkers motivated us to continue.

D L T

S

What is your favo My favorite part about being on DLT is the experience that I share with others in guiding the division to new heights! Being able to relate and communicate with others helps me grow as an individual and leader. I love how hard working everyone is and how close knit we can be. Being on DLT really changed my perspective of Key Club because it allowed me to understand all the hard work it takes to serve the community physically and mentally. Another reason why I love DLT so much is because everyone is extremely helpful to one another. When one president needs help, for example, we immediately go to each other and to Anjika. There’s so much to love, but being able to have people who understand your position and are willing to help is extremely motivating and amazing.

My favorite part about DLT is the comfortable and supportive atmosphere it has. When you have a question or concern, it will get answered and addressed by DLT members who are truly willing to help. You do not have to be a part of DLT to experience this DLT magic. Any Key Club member is welcome to reach out to this caring team of passionate teenagers. DLT is not just your average group of leaders—it is so much more. It is a group of friends who are willing to go the extra mile to make everyone’s Key Club experience better.

Jimin Lee, Cypress President 16

My favorite part about being apart of DLT is getting to work with so many awesome people! I have to say that our DLT this year is undoubtedly super fun to be around, but at the same time very hardworking. I am very shy, but being around such inclusive and kind people make it easier to break out of my shell. Specifically, I got closer to my sunny team, which is Leonel, Vicky, and Anjika! They are all very amazing individuals, and I can’t imagine being on this team without them! I love coming out to DLT meetings and DCMs, and getting to know DLT members individually as a person. I still haven’t gotten to know some people, but I’m very excited to get to know them throughout the rest of the term! As secretary, I send out meeting notes from our DLT meetings and DCMs every month, in addition to completing any tasks that our LTG has for her sunny team. Even though these tasks may seem overwhelming at times, the sunny team and the rest of DLT keep me going. Whenever I see how hardworking the rest of the DLT is, and how eager they are to serve the division, I get motivated to try my best every time!
