AALLETTER ETTERFFROM ROMYYOUR OUR LLIEUTENANT IEUTENANTGGOVERNOR OVERNOR TO MY FELLOW KEY CLUBBERS AND KIWANIANS, Thank you for entrusting me to lead Division 30 South during the 2019-2020 term. It is an incredible honor to be serving the brightest, most passionate, and service-oriented Division in all of the Cali-Nev-Ha Key Club District, and Key Club International. I am currently a Junior at Western High School, being the first ever Lieutenant Governor to come from Western High School. My Key Club journey started out with me serving as Western's Spirit Coordinator, Western's President, and now Lieutenant Governor of Division 30 South. Key Club has been such a significant part of life and it has nurtured me to become the caring, passionate, inclusive, and professional servantleader that I am today! I owe Key Club everything I have because it has truly been my ray of sunshine throughout my entire High School career. With the passion I have for this organization, I aim to lead our Division, Division 30 South, to utilize our burning passion for service and serve 33,000 hours by DCON 2020, and express how caring and compassionate we are by supporting our Preferred Charities by raising $3500 for the Eliminate Project, and a minimum of $7500 for the Pediatric Trauma Program, all while also keeping up our SPIRT BECAUSE, WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK! AYYY WE GOT THAT SPIRIT STICK! Division 30 South is mighty, passionate, and strong, and I am confident that with our burning passion for our community and keeping in remembrance WHY we serve our communities, we will be able to achieve those goals in no time! Thank you Suns for everything that you do! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to contact me at (714) 933-6518 or D30S.CNHKC.LTG@GMAIL.COM

Shining with Service,

Ali Al-Saleem, D30S LTG 3

AALLETTER ETTERFFROM ROMYYOUR OURIP IP LLIEUTENANT IEUTENANTG GOVERNOR OVERNOR TO DIVISION 30 SOUTH SUNS Hello for the last time 30S! All good things must come to an end, but saying goodbye to Division 30 South has been the hardest. You guys are the reason I love to serve and everything we’ve accomplished this past term is because of your passion. 31,000 hours served, $7,000+ raised for PTP, $3,000+ raised for MNT, 2 spirit sticks in the first time in forever, and the most astounding: $12,000 raised to build a well in Swaziland with the Thirst Project. These stats are just a mere representation of how incredible you guys are. Your sincerity, quirks, inclusiveness, and drive are what stand out the most. Thank you for placing your trust in me and I hope I made just as big of an impact on you as you had on me. L-O-V-E I love my D-I-V!! Love,

Anjika Morari, D30S IP LTG 4

Pauline Doan | Oxford Academy The time came. The March DCM marked my final DCM serving as an officer for the 2018-2019 term. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for the entirety of the event because I had a choir competition the same day, but I still had a lot of fun watching people throw handfuls of colored powder at each other. It was such a bittersweet moment, knowing that this month would be the last month I would ever serve as Key Club historian. A year ago, at approximately the same time, I also attended the March DCM, completely ecstatic knowing that I would start serving on board in the next month with the new term. I can’t fully wrap my mind around how fast the term went by. It feels like little to no time passed at all, yet there’s only three weeks left of the 2018-2019 term. It’s crazy to think that we’re all growing up and progressing on our Key Club journey. My love for Key Club will remain with me throughout the rest of my life and will only continue to grow. Entering Key Club in my freshman year was possibly one of the best things to have happened to me. Serving on Key Club board and getting to know the ins and outs of everything made that year of my high school experience so much better. One of the key reasons as to why I consider freshman year to be my peak is because of the impact Key Club had on me. It struck something in me from the very get go, and I honestly cannot be more grateful for any other organization than Key Club. To all the upcoming board members: I am so incredibly proud and excited for all of you. Hopefully, all of you enjoy your term serving on board and gain the same enjoyable experiences I did for this term. Thank you for taking the initiative to involve yourself in a community as large as Key Club. Thank you for wanting to be part of an organization that devotes its time to helping others. Thank you for loving Key Club as much as I love Key Club. Although it’s a very bittersweet feeling, I am so excited to see what this next term brings.

Spotlight on

Service

T he Eliminate Project 11

With the Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT). In 20 different countries around the world, 60,000 innocent babies and mothers die each year. When tetanus spores come into contact with open cuts during child birth, MNT causes painful convulsions and sensitivity to light and sound, affecting both the mother and the child. Only $1.80 saves a mother and her child from Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus! Therefore, Division 30 South has decided to implement the Spotlight On Service Project into our own division by raising awareness about MNT and raising money for the cause; our goal is to raise $3,500 for the Eliminate Project. The Eliminate Week is from May 6 - May 10 and here is how YOU can help:

1) Participate in your home club's fundraisers and Eliminate Week at your school. 2) Raise Awareness regarding the cause by educating yourself on what the Eliminate Project is, by participating in Eliminate Week, by donating to the DONATION JAR AT APRIL & MAY DCM and by reposting flyers and visuals that will be released to all clubs. 3) Social media is everywhere! Use it to your advantage to spread the word about the Eliminate Challenge and Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus. Film yourself or your club eating lemons for the ELEMONATE Challenge and be sure to #eleMoNaTeChallenge #d30ssuns to be featured on our social media. Spread the word about what the Eliminate Project is and encourage others to participate.
