The Indian Summer returned to the Keeneland stakes schedule during the 2018 Fall Meet as the track’s 10th Breeders’ Cup Challenge race. The stakes is a 5½-furlong race on the turf for 2-year-olds that awards the winner an automatic berth in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. Keeneland held the Indian Summer from 1991-1996 and 1998-2001 under different conditions (page 159).
Making her turf debut, favored Averly Jane won the Indian Summer (L) Presented by Keeneland Select and set off a large celebration in the Winner’s Circle. Year
