Letter from Keirsey Dear Friend, Welcome to the Keirsey Magazine! This month, we take a closer look at the Artisan Crafter. Full of artistry, tactical talents, and possessing a highly competitive nature, these personality types are a force to be reckoned with. When it comes to how theylead, we refer to them as the Competitive Leaders, for among all of the sixteen types, the Artisan Crafters are the most competitive. They are the toughest and fiercest of all, having veins of steel inside and a periphery of hard edges. In this issue, we feature Bruce Lee. He is the quintessential icon of the kind of greatness we can expect from these intense warriors. Bruce had a physique that has been admired and emulated for more than half a century. He was a leader that was far ahead of his time. He succeeded as an entertainer, an artist, an athlete, film producer, and philosopher, displaying superiority in all of his domains. He was unconventional, adaptive, and sought to give his absolute best, resulting in becoming the best there ever was. And it is unlikely that anyone else to come will ever be able to surpass him. We also wrap up our Dating & Relationships series, where we looked at what it’s like to date each of the four temperaments. In this issue, we feature what it’s like to date the Artisans! We used well known characters from television and film to portray what it’s like when each of the temperaments are paired with Artisans. Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to the article on Spirituality this month. We feature the orientation of the inner life for each of the four temperaments. What governs the Artisan and how is that different from where Guardians draw their strength? What does the inner life of the Idealist and Rational look like? We are excited to engage together with you. Thanks for tuning in. All the Best,

Artisan & Artisan Pa When two Artisans get together, it can be exciting, adventurous, steamy, exhilarating, and even dangerous. This is where the ultimate game playing occurs. Smirks and seductive looks are exchanged. Artisans revel in the thrill of the chase. When thrills begin to cease, the fun disappears and boredom sets in, signaling that it’s time to move on. Chasing and being chased is where all the fun is. Artisans play the one-up competition all the time. It’s a psychological 9

game of twister where it’s all about who’s got the upper hand. It’s about flirtation. It’s about teasing. It’s the allure. It’s about who’s winning or losing, using anything and everything with charm to get the other to fall hard, with no guarantees of reciprocation. Desire takes center stage, and each withholds anything that reveals vulnerability to the other. Who says, “I love you,” first matters. The most commitment phobic of all, Artisans feel a loss of power when they love. There is a

airing push and pull, where emotions are toyed with, and manipulation occurs at all times (even when both are in love with each other. It’s just the way they connect.) It’s hot and cold, with distance and intimacy. It’s passionate and playful. Artisans use bait, get them to bite, and once they’re hooked, they reel them in, and once they’ve got them, they release. Two Artisans (or three) can be euphoric or destructive, because it is here that pleasure can take on a life of its own. Keirsey

Artisan & Guardian Pairing Guardians have the most amount of “Artisan-Envy,” which leads them to want to be like them, or to judge them harshly. Guardians have a love-hate relationship with their need to be responsible, dependable, and respectable. On the one hand, it makes them feel a little “square” at times, while it also can make them feel like they are more civilized, and better than everyone else. The Artisan’s wild and loose life makes them wish that they could also just let loose, and not feel the burden of needing to always be the “good one.” They wish that they could be the “bad-boy” or the “wild-girl” without being plagued with feelings of guilt or shame. Artisans love to instigate their Guardian interest by taking them on their wild ride. They find delight in tempting a Guardian to lose control. There’s a very satisfying feeling for the Artisan when they can take someone who is pure, innocent, and on the straight and narrow, and get them to pop all their cherries in life—to not

be so imprisoned by their inhibitions. When a Guardian takes the wild ride of the Artisan and can wake up the next day without the psychological hangover of guilt, they can be awakened to a new reality, where they say to themselves, “Hey, what do you know, I’m not ruined. All those crazy things didn’t kill me, and it was a lot of fun. And no one thinks I’m a terrible human being.” Guardians can have a lot of fun once they realize that letting go isn’t going to lead to utter destruction. Due to their formal nature, Guardians don’t naturally play games. Their efforts to flirt, seduce, allure, or entice comes across with no surprise nor edge. In other words, they’ve got no game. The most opportune time for a Guardian to win an Artisan’s heart, is to be there when an Artisan comes crashing out of a wild and crazy relationship with another Artisan. It’s when the Artisan is sick and tired of the game, where they find the honorable Guardian attractive.

Dating & Relationships

Artisan & Idealist Pairing Both the Idealist and the Artisan are in pursuit of the “amazing.” This is where they have their common ground. There is a key difference worth highlighting though. When it comes to the Idealist’s pursuit, the amazing is about pursuing that which

13

Keirsey

is unique, novel, and different, and when they encounter it, there is deep meaning. The amazing is a sign from the universe. For the Artisan, however, they see amazing as single events of euphoria. Temporary pleasures are simple with no strings attached.

Jenny Curran, Artisan Forrest Gump, Idealist

Idealists idealize the amazing, while Artisans see amazing as just another amazing. When an Idealist experiences amazing, they jump to, “OMG! I think this could be the one! Idealists believe that ecstasy in the moment can only be explained by the destiny of possibly discovering their soulmate. For the Artisan, the same encounter is an awesome trip, and like any trip, it has an end. To win the Artisan, the Idealist needs to chill out and let the amazing be amazing in the here and now. They need to understand that feelings in the moment don’t need to be forever. This

takes the pressure off, and leaves the potential for something more. When the Idealist discovers amazing, they are so deathly afraid of losing it; after all, if amazing means soulmate, pre-destiny, love of eternity, then the thought of such a loss is utterly devastating. But, when they understand the perspective of the Artisan, they can slow it all the way down, and just have a good time, and let the Artisan fool themselves into love, because amazing after amazing leads to a lifetime addiction which has no recovery.

Artisan & Rational Pairing Artisans and Rationals make the optimal partners in crime. They are both rebels by nature, (rebellious in their own ways) wanting to always go against the grain, to bend and break rules, question and challenge authority, and destroy the established order. The Artisan’s hedonism, combined with the Rational’s outside-the-box thinking can create the kind of duo that takes everything to a higher level. Artisans left to themselves are primal and their pursuit of pleasure

15

Keirsey

is raw and barbaric. The Rational who buys into the Artisan finds new ways to take raw pleasure to levels which are preeminent. Artisans are the only ones who can really loosen up the Rational. They push Rationals to go all the way, to be full out. At the same time, they can get Rationals to chill out when the intensity gets too heated. Artisans find Rationals to be their greatest challenge because they’re the only ones who seem to be immune to their tactics. Rationals

Dating & Relationships

are cold, distant, and objective, so they can be unaffected by the Artisan’s alluring charm. A Rational either finds the Artisan amusing or annoying. They can derive a great deal of pleasure just watching the wildness of an Artisan, and are content to be the bystander voyeur. The Artisans love for freedom and the Rationals need for autonomy go well together, and the Artisans audacity combined with the Rationals ingenuity make them a dangerous pair, able to make some

serious damage together. Rationals are content to watch the Artisan dance around with no inhibitions, and have no need to judge or to engage. Rationals just delight in watching their partner dive into all that is biological. The Rational wins over the Artisan with their cool, calm nature, and by facilitating challenges which are bigger, better, and outside of what they would otherwise conquer on their own.

Portrait of a Leader

By Edward Kim and David Keirsey Bruce Lee expected and demanded more of himself than arguably any other human being in recent history. He had an unparalleled drive to develop his physical and mental capabilities, which resulted in the performance of super-human feats that have yet to be equaled to this day. Every individual to ever enter the industry he led, revered him, and often sought to emulate him. He became the benchmark and the standard against which all successful competitors of his industry would be compared against. To have this kind of impact on one’s industry is an extraordinary accomplishment—and if this alone was his greatest achievement, this leader would make for a fascinating leader to study. This leader’s influence, however, goes far beyond his profession. It spans across socio-economic barriers, ethnicity, and transcends his era. He died in the 20th century, yet, in the 21st century, musicians, worldclass athletes, film directors, actors, philosophers, professional fighters, dancers, artists, business and civic leaders have cited him as a significant influence on their lives. More than three decades after his death, he is heralded as a cultural-icon who continues to inspire. Born in San Francisco, in the Year of the Dragon, Bruce Jun Fan Lee lived a short life spanning only thirty-two years, yet he leaves an impressive legacy. Bruce made significant contributions to the world as a skilled martial artist, philosopher, writer, teacher, actor, film director, and screenwriter. 21

Keirsey

Portrait of a Leader

Competitive Leaders are relentless in perfecting their techniques. Bruce Lee was graceful in movement, which was displayed in fighting, and in films. (Bruce starred in five full-length feature films). His fellow students noted that Bruce’s kicks had a precision and speed that surpassed their instructors. It is not surprising that he was also a terrific dancer, (in 1958 he won the Hong Kong Cha-Cha Championship). Whether it was Kung-Fu or Cha-cha, he kept journals noting steps and techniques, as he diligently pursued perfection. Bruce was ruthlessly self-disciplined and relentlessly sought mastery in the martial arts. Bruce dedicated himself to a fitness and nutrition regimen that made him renowned for his strength and vigor. He also sought to develop his mental conditioning, and was therefore, well-read, (Bruce possessed an extensive library of philosophical writings). When he realized that the the martial arts traditions of his day were placing limits on him, he developed his own way of martial arts, which he called Jeet Kune Do, “The Way of the Intercepting Fist.” He wrote extensively about his thoughts on philosophy, combat, motivation, freedom, the psychology of fighting, and human potential. Keirsey

Portrait of a Leader

Competitive Leaders have an instinct for taking the “conventional” and adapting them for results. Before He created Jeet Kune Do, he called what he taught Jun Fan Gung Fu, which literally means, Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu. It was Bruce’s approach to Wing Chun. In perfecting his techniques in the Wing Chun tradition, he noted that the methods were too rigid, formalistic, and impractical for scenarios in real street combat. As he perfected his movements in an age-old tradition, he found that the art was far too limiting. Lee’s abandonment of tradition and his willingness to teach westerners was frowned upon by the establishment of the day, and he was issued a formal order, signed by the entire community of Kung-Fu leaders of Chinatown. He was challenged to a match with their top fighter, Wong Jack Man, and the agreement was that if Bruce was defeated, he would abandon his teaching. Bruce said that the match lasted three minutes, yet, in whipping his opponent, he felt that the fight lasted too long. He expressed that he failed to live up to his potential using Wing Chun. This motivated him to develop and teach his own way. Bruce sought to create a system where “practicality, flexibility, speed, and efficiency” were the focus.

Keirsey

24

Portrait of a Leader

Competitive Leaders never back down; they are driven to win at all costs. His mother often told the story of young Bruce at the age of four raising his fist to the Japanese invaders. He often got into fights with English boys who taunted them as a youngster. And in his teen years, Bruce was often known to get into street fights with gangs. With his training in Kung-Fu, he used his skills to pummel any foe. In whatever Bruce pursued, he was fearless. He sought to dominate; to be the best. Being a minority in the United States during the 1960s, he had to breakdown ethnic barriers. Asians were not visible in American life. In Hollywood, lead film roles for Asians were essentially non-existent. Bruce was the first non-white role model, that was not meek and submissive. He was a fierce competitor who redefined cool. He was internally driven, to develop and teach his own way. He used competition as his drive, having his own expectations for himself, which far surpassed what was possible for normal human beings. Whether it was beating up someone, a demonstration of his strength and skill (like his two finger pushup or one-inch punch), or starring in legendary films, Bruce performed feats which were far beyond anyone’s wildest imaginations.

25

Keirsey

Portrait of a Leader

Competitive Leaders work harder and longer than anybody else to achieve their goals. Chuck Norris stated, “Lee, pound for pound, might well have been one of the strongest men in the world, and certainly one of the quickest.” Bruce believed that, “Training is one of the most neglected phases of athletics.” He claimed that, “Too much time is given to the development of skill and too little to the development of the individual for participation.” He said of the martial art he created, “Jeet Kune Do, ultimately is not a matter of petty techniques but of highly developed spirituality and physique.” Bruce developed his own training routine, which included exercises lasting more than 3-hours daily. He took muscular strength training, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility exercises to a whole new level, and he often went to extremes. For example, Lee did exercises to even toughen the skin on his fists, by thrusting his hands into buckets of harsh rocks and gravel over 500 times a day. Even outside of the gym, in the classroom, he applied himself with a tenacity to learn. Discontented with speaking like a foreigner, he applied himself to learn idiosyncrasies in colloquial English. Bruce did whatever it took to hit his targets.

Keirsey

26

Portrait of a Leader

Competitive Leaders rely on their practiced instincts to guide them moment by moment. When Bruce came to America, he came with $100.00 in his pocket. In order to make money, he started off as a dance instructor. He simply leveraged his many years of practice in dance to get started in his new homeland. America was the place where he could give birth to a system that brought together all that he had practiced up until then. Bruce was trained in a wide range of arts, including multiple forms of Chinese martial arts, Jujitsu, Western Boxing, and Épée fencing, to name some. Although he was formally trained in so many traditions, he emphasized what he referred to as, “the style of no style.” It was a statement which meant that he wanted to get rid of a formalized approach that is indicative of traditional styles. Through Bruce lived a very short life, he never wasted a moment. Whether it be reading while resting between sets during a workout, working on choreography for a film while starring in it, or mastering a technique for combat, he was always doing something. He knew how to leverage all of his experiences. As a child, Bruce starred in various films, and this allowed him to pursue a career on the big screen as an adult, where he starred in five legendary martial arts films. Bruce’s life is a moment by moment manifestation of everything coming together. All that he practiced throughout life served as preparation for every opportunity that he seized in the future. Bruce once said, “The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.” He certainly lived up to his words.

Anatomy of a Competitive Leader

D O YO U H AVE W H AT IT T AK E S ? The Anatomy of a Competitive Leader Artisan Crafter ISTP All of their time and energy is put into the craft that they have chosen. Nothing is half-ass for a Competitive Leader. It is all or nothing. There is no in between. Competitive Leaders take the gamble; they do not just play it safe. They approach their craft with absolute passion, fixed on becoming the best of the best. Competitive Leaders are driven from within to gain mastery over

33

Keirsey

their technique, always developing further. They are singular in focus, giving their everything, eliminating all other loves, so that nothing else matters. They are fully engaged. They don’t operate by putting in their faire share, or a reasonable contribution; Competitive Leaders give 150%, sparing absolutely nothing. They love what they do, and they do what they love.

Anatomy of a Competitive Leader

COMPETITIVE LEADERS develop their craft by endless practicing When Competitive Leaders are engaged in what they love, “practice” is not “work,” it is “play.” And these fierce characters love to play. Their energy for playing never runs dry. They can keep going from sun up to sun down perfecting their techniques. We are not suggesting that Competitive Leaders can only practice when it is fun for them. Often, play can be grueling, painful, and difficult, but it is the kind of work which leads to an enduring satisfaction. Endless practicing creates and reinforces habits, and those habits become

35

Keirsey

such a part of their most automatic actions—without needing to think about it, actions simply emerge naturally. Competitive Leaders understand however, that how a leader practices matters. They know that practicing wrong techniques endlessly leads to perfection, but it leads to doing it “perfectly wrong.” They instinctively get that practicing effective techniques is what yields results. They recognize that the axiom, “Practice makes perfect,” is better correctly stated as, “Practice makes permanent.”

Anatomy of a Competitive Leader

COMPETITIVE LEADERS compete at the highest levels to get better All Competitive Leaders have limitations and when they do things on their own, no matter how talented they are, they end up hitting a ceiling. Even if they are doing something they love, and they have been endlessly practicing with the best techniques, they can come to a point where they plateau—where they come to the end of themselves. In order to break that ceiling, a Competitive Leader must find access and exposure to others who perform at a higher level. Gaining access to world class talent, and seeing how they do things

differently, serves as a great source of learning for them. Competitive Leaders figure out how they can improve by carefully observing the techniques they can employ which are better than their own. Access to higher levels forces them to play at a higher level. They are challenged in ways that stretch their capabilities to new levels. Competitive Leaders value being taught, mentored, and coached by the best. Practicing endlessly in their own little space will only get them so far.

Anatomy Competitive Anatomyofofaan Empath Leader

COMPETITIVE LEADERS use challenges & competitors to drive them to be the best Competitive Leaders thrive when they have competition. They compete against themselves, and even engage in friendly competition with friends, colleagues, and companions. But, when a Competitive Leader has an opponent, one that they consider to be an enemy, a foe, or an arch-rival, the energy they gain is unparalleled. There is an adrenaline rush that overtakes them, and this rush is not just momentary. It turns into a drive to utterly demolish the opponent. This is a natural instinct and motivator for Competitive Leaders. They also thrive when there is an insurmountable challenge. The greater the challenge,

31 37

Keirsey

the more energy they can summon from themselves. When faced with overwhelming odds or a seemingly overpowering opponent, instead of backing down, Competitive Leaders step it up. This is when the claws come out, where they confront the obstacle, moving forward aggressively to strike and make the kill. Competitive Leaders must win. They cannot stand to lose. They must fight. They cannot yield when they are confronted by danger. Shedding blood, sweat, and tears is normal for Competitive Leaders. They push through adversity to emerge victorious on the other end.

Anatomy of a Competitive Leader Anatomy of an Empath

COMPETITIVE LEADERS challenge their teammates to develop their specialty and to be just as driven Competitive Leaders succeed both as individuals and as team players. They set individual records, while driving the team to the very top. They train harder and more than everybody else. They do more than what anybody else could possibly request of them. In a team setting, they set the example and standard for excellence. Their drive sets the pace as well as the tone for team members to follow. There is an axiom which states, “Speed of the Leader = Speed of the Team. And as leaders, these Competitive Leaders expect and demand more from themselves and from their teammates than

anyone else. Competitive Leaders are extremely discerning when it comes to sizing up talent. They will immediately identify strengths, and will insist that teammates find their specialization, their path, and their roles. They want teammates to be just as driven as they are to win. When Competitive Leaders bring on that same level of intensity with their teammates, then the impact becomes exponentially greater. This kind of leadership results in creating legendary teams which are remembered in the history books as the greatest teams to ever play.

Anatomy ofAnatomy a Competitive Leader of an Empath

COMPETITIVE LEADERS turn what they do best into a phenomenon to inspire others When a Competitive Leaders is performing at his or her absolute best, and their standard has become contagious, then the potential for impact on a greater scale is imminent. Their work ethic, drive, excellence, and intensity becomes not only the gold standard for all to follow within their own industry, but, it inspires others in all sorts of other arenas as well. Becoming the best of the best, allows for a Competitive Leader to transcend themselves. This is when their initial conquest to do what they love, has taken them up the path to becoming a phenomenon. Great Competitive Leaders become a symbol of pushing

the mind and body to new limits. Their competitive nature stands as a mark for superiority in competition. This is where a Competitive Leader’s reputation becomes a sensation with an uncontrollable influence. It exceeds any intention that they may have had from the outset. So why strive to be the best of the best? Why work so hard to demand more? It is because this is what Competitive Leaders do, and this is who they are. These leaders are dangerous. They go about their way quietly, but their impact is loud, and makes a lasting impression which changes everything.

When it comes to making money, we all have different perspectives, priorities, paths, and pursuits. In other words, we view money differently; money is more or less important to some of us than others of us; we take different ways toward making it; and we make it for different reasons. In this article we exam the financial pursuits of the four temperaments. “...the fun is in the pursuit itself.”

Big Deal For the Artisan, the pursuit of money is unpredictable. It is not sequential, it’s not a step-by-step advancement, and it isn’t a pursuit of a long range vision either. Money isn’t made to save for a rainy day, it’s not made to be given away. For the Artisan, the fun is in the pursuit itself, and when money has been captured, it is quickly released to fuel their impulses. Sometimes they dabble in all kinds of various activities to make money. And none of the ventures seem to have anything in common, but what is for sure is that in everything they do, fun is a non-negotiable. The pursuit of the big deal is about moment by moment maneuvering, where agility and speed lead to the kill. It’s about the thrill of the chase to hunt down the big prize. The Artisan lives to be intoxicated by all that life has to offer. Money buys pleasure, it affords freedom. Money is potent to the Artisan, because it has the power to make an impact. It allows them to be audacious. Big deals are stimulating for the Artisan because size matters for them, and it has to feel achievable right away. Deals by nature can change everything immediately, and so this appeals to them. Keirsey

“...seeks to advance up the ladder to greater levels of authority, by working hard.”

Big Salary A big salary is built on the foundation of having worked hard for a long time. It shows that one is well educated, has greater responsibility, and has paid one’s dues. It signifies that one has arrived and that it only gets better from here. A Guardian starts their career with the expectation of making a salary that is competitive for their industry, and seeks to advance up the ladder to greater levels of authority, by working hard. The salary is seen as the measuring stick for where they stand in comparison with others. And it is the means by which they can move up the social ladder as well. The big salary doesn’t belong to the rookie. It belongs to the one that has proven themselves. It is something that isn’t simply handed out. It has been earned, and so therefore, a Guardian feels that they are deserving and properly entitled for all of their hard work and deeds. So it feels sturdy and stable. The nice thing about a salary is that it is predictable. It takes a while to build. It can be relied upon for the future because it is merited by what was done in the past. Keirsey

Giving In an ideal world, there would be no need for money. We would live together as one, in perfect harmony, sharing and caring for one another in community. But, reality has a harsh way of shattering our dreams. When Idealists see the realities of a broken world, where people are in need, they cannot simply close their eyes. Idealists cannot help themselves from wanting to do something for the hurting and suffering. Idealists come to accept that money is a necessary evil that makes life possible in modern civilization. They believe that money should remove barriers rather than build them. They seek to remove the great gap between the haves and the have-nots. Whether they have a lot or a little, Idealists redistribute money. Idealists are born philanthropists. If you have a lot, give it to someone in need. When you are in need, receive from others. They give whatever they have to misfits, the disenfranchised, and the underprivileged. Their inclusive nature compels them to leave no one stranded or on the outside. They live to give. And giving makes them feel alive. Keirsey

For Rationals

The Pursuit of

“...see money as a successful byproduct of their pursuit to dominate.”

Domination For the Rational, making money isn’t really about the money. What matters to them is not how much they make. Nor do they feel the adrenaline rush of the winning chase of the deal. Short term wins feel momentary and fleeting for them. They hold onto their money loosely, believing that whether they have a lot or a little, they’re going to stay focused on something greater. Rationals see money as a successful byproduct of their pursuit to dominate. It’s the fruit of having reached a goal. In whatever they pursue, they want to be superior. Domination is really about being at the highest level of evolution, where they are pushing the edge of order to disrupt the system with new innovations. Rationals also see money as a tool that they can leverage to reach their objective. Rationals don’t really give a sh*# about money. They don’t follow money, rather, they are obsessive about turning their visions into reality, and money often follows them as they lead the way. Society tends to reward Rationals when their crazy ideas breakthrough to redefine reality. Keirsey

INNER LIFE All of us have inner voices. We listen, ignore, resist, or yield to them all the time. Some see inner voices as being angelic or demonic. Some believe in hearing from God directly, while others believe that it’s just self-talk, or it’s the residual of past influences imprinted on our psyche. Irrespective of what you believe, what is certain is that we all have thoughts. And some thoughts are bigger drivers and motivators than other thoughts. In this article, we look at what the dominating inner life messages are for each of the temperaments.

Sixth-sense, spidey-sense, street-smarts, primalinstincts, pure agility. When the Artisan goes with their gut, they’re almost always right on the money. It’s not a feeling, it’s unemotional, it’s not about reflecting, being sensitive to one’s thoughts, being still, or listening to quiet whispers, or hearing the inner child. The inner voice of the Artisan is quick, it’s animalistic, it’s sharp—cutting through everything to get to the result right away. It’s much like taking shots of the most potent elixirs. It’s direct, full-on engagement in the moment that stabs the heart of the matter without needing to think or ponder. It’s raw, barbaric, and fierce. Artisans can cultivate this further by going with their gut as often as possible, and putting total trust in their instincts, without fear of making the wrong move. Even in every misstep, there’s an opportunity to adapt, and pivot back to what still hits the target. 57

Rely only on what’s been proven; what is right for all. Listen to what you have learned from credible sources—from the experts. Those with experience can be trusted. Going with the gut, with emotion, or one’s own analysis are all unreliable. Rules exist for a good reason. Keeping them provides a safeguard, protecting the innocent, and punishing the perpetrator. Not following them can result in damage or hurt for everyone. This is what governs the Guardian’s inner life. They live by creeds, and listen to authority. Obedience keeps everything in order, and allows for everyone to sleep at night. The Guardian, is therefore, diligent to listen to the sermon, read their “bibles,” and follow the commands contained in it. They listen because they fear the consequences of non-compliance. They want to be praised for their efforts to live righteously, so they learn what is right and recite those directives in their thoughts and obey them. Keirsey

Authenticity, being one with yourself, integration of heart, soul, mind, and body, being your best and most true version of you. This is what governs the inner life of the Idealist. They want their inner world and outer world to be harmonious. They listen for the inner child, the voice of innocence, they listen to their tears of pain, and their deepest joys. They listen for the loving words which have been said of them, and to them throughout their life journey. Idealists want the reflection in the mirror to fully convey who they are on the inside. These sensitive souls believe that life is beautiful, and that if you quiet all the surrounding noise, and look for peace, that your life will begin to speak. They listen to their hearts. They pay attention to their soul by listening to their deepest yearnings. Actions taken solely because its been prescibed, over what they feel can trample their spirits, and be destructive to the cultivation of their identity. 61

Soundness of mind, clarity of thought, superiority in perspective, the ability to understand, articulate, and use reason, is where Rationals find their strength. The brain is their most important asset. Is it Godgiven, or has the brain evolved into its capabilities? This is up for debate, but what is certain is that the mind is the source of the inner life for the Rational. Other’s opinions matter not, no matter who holds the view. If it disagrees with the voice of reason in the mind of a Rational, the proposition is worthless. Rationals don’t work with their hands, they don’t trust their feelings or emotions, and they are skeptical of authority; they work with their heads. Even within their own minds, they are always stepping back to analyze, scrutinize, and objectify the issues at hand to determine what is relevant and what the direction must be. Rationals keep evolving as long as they are thinking, and feeding their brains with knowledge.
