Double MOBO Award Winning Saxophonist and University of Kent alumna YolanDa Brown is the premier female saxophonist in the UK. Her music is a wonderful mix of genres, touching on Jazz, Soul and Reggae.

Performance from YolanDa Brown
Having toured with The Temptations, Billy Ocean and worked with Mica Paris, Lemar and as part of Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. Brown was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts and also invited to meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace. She has just had a radio show commissioned for British Airways starting in Nov 2016. YolanDa is currently recording her sophomore album due for release in 2017, which she says will be her best piece of work yet.
James Sheridan James has been competing in the sport of Bike Trials for 11 years and in this time has been sponsored by some of the biggest bike trial brands in the world. James is proud to be a Shepway Sports Trust Ambassador, a charity based in South East Kent that promotes participation and excellence in sport by creating strong links between schools, clubs and community organisations, and is committed to inspiring young people to take up sport. James’ key achievements include: 2013: Senior European Championship 2nd place 2011: Elite EBTC Champion 2009: Elite National Champion 2007: Senior British and Senior European Cup Champion 2006: Expert Indoor British Champion
Gulbenkian Youth Dance Company

Jasmin Vardimon Company has risen to become a significant element within British dance theatre. The Gulbenkian is the University of Kent’s Arts Centre offering high quality arts activity. Together they launched a new Youth Dance Company in partnership with the University of Kent Sport, recruiting thirteen talented dancers. They will premiere a five minute piece created especially for the event, choreographed by Andre Rebelo.
Richard Navarro is a singer, songwriter and multiinstrumentalist from Canterbury now making waves on the UK music scene with his captivating live show. Richard seamlessly layers together vocals, violin, trumpet, percussion and piano using live looping to create powerful arrangements of his songs alongside Nicholas Thurston on double bass.

Ryan is currently studying for his A-levels at Simon Langton Grammar School. He has performed for the last three years in the City Sound Project at the Jolly Sailor pub in Canterbury; and also in the Kent School Games Cultural Celebration.
Kayleigh is 17 and is currently studying her A-levels at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar school. Kayleigh has appeared in many shows across Kent including Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Les Miserables and Oliver!
Manor Manouche is a gypsy jazz trio consisting of Thomas Abrahams and Nev Willis on guitars with Jarrod Coombes on Double Bass. Manor Manouche come to us following a successful festival season.

David Fulton became the Kent County Cricket Club captain in 2003. An astute leader on the field, he impressed Steve Waugh during his stint overseas in 2002. Not only did Waugh praise Fulton’s captaincy, he suggested that he might one day lead England.

His 207 runs against Yorkshire at Maidstone is the longest innings played by a Kent batsman. He has the best catching strike rate in Kent fielding history and was the first batsman to score 1000 firstclass runs in 2001 as well as the season’s leading English batsman with 1892 runs (average 75.68). In 2006 David went out with a bang, scoring 155 against Middlesex in his final innings for the county at Canterbury.

David works as a Sky Sports commentator and in 2003 officially opened new, additional sports facilities at the University of Kent.

John Taylor, Roving Reporter
John has been at BBC Radio Kent for 26 years and has presented the Breakfast Show for around 20 of them. His first job at Radio Kent was sports reporter covering Kent cricket and Gillingham football.
John Taylor played rugby for Wales from 1967 to 1973 – during their golden era. He then went into journalism and was rugby correspondent for the Mail on Sunday for 20 years. He also commentated on gymnastics at four Olympic Games and was chief rugby commentator for ITV from 1989 to 2007 before switching to TalkSPORT for the 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament. He was also the main stadium announcer at Twickenham for the Rugby World Cup 2015.
When John is not on air he likes to cook and play piano and guitar badly! These days his sporting activities are confined to golf and cycling.
