Most members of Kent Sport will come across the sports development team at some point during their university lives. Whether it’s through the Inter College and intramural sport or the Let’s Play programme, they are always ready to lend some help or give advice. Ten years ago, the sports development programme consisted of a small fivea-side football and occassional racket sports competition. Now it has become a constantly evolving entity that aims to meet the growing demands of all parts of the University sporting infastructure. Five-aside competitions have expanded to include 24 teams of 11-a-side leagues. Additional sports such as badminton, netball, rounders, and tennis have had introductory sessions and mini-leagues established and ingrained into the weekly sporting setup. Opportunites to officiate,
coach or take up volunteering posts to enhance individual skills and promote personal development are on offer. Let’s Play is an initiative specifically designed to offer more relaxed, enjoyable sessions for people wanting to try new sports or who want to get started with an active lifestyle.
