COAST INSURANCE is the newly rebranded underwriting agency formerly known as Trident Underwriting. It o ers a variety of marine and nonmarine insurance products to the Australian broker network. The start of 2022 has seen Coast showcase its new product o ering to the market and provide niche insurance solutions to its broker partners.

Now o ering property and liability products for non-marine industries, Coast has sparked some interest in the market. General manager of underwriting Stephanie Muller explains that the response from the market has been quite overwhelming.

“The feedback around our new brand has been really positive,” she says. “Brokers are keen to hear what we have to o er and have been particularly interested in our newly launched commercial property and liability products for non-marine industries.”

Coast’s launch is timely, given the emerging trends shaping the insurance sector. “The industry has been very much cyclical, with ever-present challenges such as recent catastrophic weather events, not to mention COVID-19’s impact on the market,” Muller says. “It feels as though there are some major shifts these days, with these events providing learning opportunities for us and the sector as a whole.”

She says this backdrop has been an opportunity for underwriting agencies such as Coast to shine.

“We bring the old-school ways of doing business that brokers crave to the table. For instance, we understand the importance and value of strong relationships and sound fi nancial backing. At the same time, clients benefi t from the e ciencies our investment in new technology delivers. It’s a powerful and unparalleled combination,” Muller says.

“So, while brokers are always able to pick up the phone and talk to one of our experts, they are equally able to contact us electronically and glean huge amounts of information from our website.”

STEPHANIE MULLER, GENERAL MANAGER — UNDERWRITING

THERE ARE very few people with as deep an understanding of marine insurance as Stephanie Muller. She started working at Trident Underwriting as a junior underwriter nearly 16 years ago. Over that time, she has extended her experience into commercial property and liability classes, moving into various managerial positions in the business, the most recent being general manager of underwriting.

Muller is excited about the new direction Coast is taking the business in and the ability to build on Trident’s lengthy history and industry-leading position. Her role as general manager of underwriting sees her lead the agency and its sta to e ectively and e ciently service the broker network.

“I’m proud of the team we have built here and thoroughly enjoy mentoring our talented emerging leaders. I’m a strong believer in high customer service and going that extra mile for our brokers, so I strive to instil these values into our team.

“We have been helping our broker partners address their clients’ risks for 27 years. Over that time, we have established Trident as the leading Australian marine underwriter. We are now able to lend that experience to our new business, Coast Insurance. The move allows us to combine the best of the new and the old to continue delivering outstanding service for our valued long-term broker partners, as well as a growing cohort of new brokers, by o ering solutions across a more diverse range of industry sectors.”
