ARCHITECTURAL WRITE-UP Phase 5A design is conceptually derived from basic architectural elements – planar surface, vertical and horizontal elements, solid and void, material type and shading. The exploration and combination of these elements in terms of composition, framing, intrude and extrude, solid and void creates different types of designs that are simple, clear a n d m o d e r n .

The exploration of the basic architectural elements are firstly focused within the front façade of the building, and further developed and explored to create hierarchy and language within the overall housing composition. The overall scheme for Phase 5A is intended to feature a modern contemporary design with the essence of reflection of the balanced modern life-style cultured society that is always progressing ahead towards a better and developed society ; symbolizing Gamuda Gardens as a whole.







GAMUDA GARDENS PHASE 4A – MC OFFICE ‘APPRECIATING THE NATURE’ Appreciating the nature not only means by the building being responsive to the surrounding context, but also how the human activities relate back to the surrounding nature

STRATEGIES:

Control the activity and movement of people in the site with proper zoning by considering the overall site context (site entrance; surrounding building; linkage)

Playing with soil level and ‘in-between’ green area to differentiate and enhance the zoning.

Minimalism architecture approach in terms of space planning and building form (spatial organization and spatial quality) in response to the surrounding nature.

“LIGHTNESS OF BEING” The concept of 'lightness' generally relates to the physical weight of objects or materials. In the realm of design, it can take a surrealistic stance when used to alter the perceived visual mass and ambience. Through the manipulation of forms, play of materials and control of light & shadow, the concept evolves into a sensory experience.


DESIGN APPROACH Upper part of tree.

Formation of leaves looks massive but yet very airy and light.

As a form, it can be represented as a floating object.

The form can also be achieved by stacking.

The form can be achieve by having a frame.


DESIGN APPROACH Growth of a tree.

A tree naturally grows from ground up.

As diagram, it can be represented as an arrow line with direction pointing up.

As a form, it can be represented as block that has continuity of form from bottom up.


DESIGN APPROACH Light rays between leaves.

Light rays in between leaves gives a very airy and light outlook to a tree.

In form, this can be achieved by having glass to create openness feeling.

Planar elements in a set of vertical/horizontal lines.

Slit openings in form to make it looks more lighter.
