‘Pride of The Community’
Unicorn Athletic JFC History…. Unicorn Athletic were formed in 1977 and have predominately been running as a Junior football club for the past 38 years having many successes up to youth football.
In the last few seasons the club has expanded in to adult football seeing the adult’s side coming runners-up 2 years on the bounce in the Broadheath Central Cup, being beat in extra time in both finals and finishing 3rd in the Altrincham & District League before we made the step up to The Hallmark Security Cheshire League. The move to the Cheshire League saw a move in stadia for Unicorn. Smiths Field was the home for the 1st XI but now first team games are played at Valley Road stadium as we look to work ourselves up the non-league pyramid. The club has over 400 players and 40+ coaches with many teams and success in the junior and youth squads.

DAVE POTTER
Welcome to Valley Road today where we welcome Cuddington AFC in league action. Well it's been nearly 2 months since we have had competitive game so we are very much looking forward to getting back amongst it. This is a new year which for me means a new attitude, we will not be beat easily by teams if you want to beat us from now on you will need to earn it. There will be a new strength among us and a belief we can win and hold on to wins. The little mistakes will stop as of now. We have strengthened over the last month or so and we have got a lot sharper fitter thanks to training with Wayne Richardson and Richardson Sports at The Etihad. We have the fixtures up until March now and i believe we will be right up in the mix by then. People have wrote us off already but we will show our determination and fight our way back to winning ways by graft, teamwork, commitment, communication and encouragement. I personally have worked to hard getting the club/team right, now i need the team to start delivering simple as that Today's opponents Cuddington FC have been just as inconsistent as us but as we already know from our first encounter with them they will not give up and in their last league game i believe they beat Warrington Town who have been flying so we will need to be at our best and make sure we put them to bed and gain the much needed 3 points in what promises to be a good footballing game I hope you all enjoy the match

Next Up Unicorn Ath v Wythenshawe Town January 16th Admission: £2/£1/Free Ericstan Park, Wythenshawe
Next up for Unicorn Athletic is a trip to local side Wythenshawe Town in Baguley where we face off for the second time this season, this time in the J A Walton Challenge Cup Wythenshawe Town ply their trade in the Cheshire League 1 after winning Unicorn’s current league last season, winning every game. Manager Dave Potter had his say on the game, “An extremely tough game this will be for us.
Wythenshawe won every game last season and the whole club is on the up so momentum is with them. Despite a change of management and players, they are still a superb outfit. They outplayed us in the previous encounter but this time we want a better, more competitive performance”. Another big game and we need your support away from home. It’s another local game with big importance so make sure you don’t miss this one. There will be some build up on the club’s Twitter and Facebook pages so make sure you’re keeping updated with the latest Unicorn news.
