On the 26th of June 2009, UNESCO declared the Dolomites a World Natural Heritage Area for their unique and monumental beauty.

Excellent snow-making facilities means that the ski season is guaranteed from the end of November until late April.

Cortina d’Ampezzo ski area includes Auronzo-Misurina and San Vito di Cadore, with a total of 140km of pistes, all part of the Dolomiti Superski area.

The ski area of Cortina d’Ampezzo comprises three mountain ranges connected by a free-of-charge ski bus.

Breathtaking scenery sport and an unforge able ambience in three connected ski areas

SKI AREA FALORIA - CRISTALL0 - MIETRES This area offers an excellent selection of slopes at all levels of difficulty with breathtaking views across the Ampezzo valley. The Forcella Staunies chairli in the Cristallo range takes you to an altitude of 2,930m and the start of the legendary Canalone Staunies run, the steepest in the Dolomiti Superski area.

The scenic Vitelli slope, dedicated to Slow Ski, is completely immersed in nature, away from ski li s and mountain huts. It is equipped with relax areas where you can stop to admire the spectacular views.

With gentle slopes and a dedicated sled track, the Mietres area is particularly suitable for children.

SKI AREA TOFANE - POCOL The 6-seater chairli , Tofana Express, swi ly takes skiers from the beginner slopes of Socrepes and Pocol to the higher and more technically challenging runs of the Tofana, such as the Canalone, the Vertigine Bianca and the famous Schuss.

In the same area, the Olympia Ski Tour offers an unforge able adventure on the tracks of the 1956 Olympics, today the site of the Women’s Ski World Cup. The Freccia nel Cielo cable car takes skiers from the town centre to the Ra Valles ski area, at 2,500m, where perfect conditions are guaranteed throughout the season.

At Socrepes, a brand new Snow Park offers fun experiences for snowboarders and freestyle enthusiasts.

SKI AREA GAZUOI - 5 TORRI Von den einfachen Pisten in Socrepes und Pocol aus erreicht man mit Tofana Express technisch sehr anspruchsvolle Pisten wie Canalone, Vertigine Bianca und den allen bekannten „Schuss“.

Die Schitour Olympia vermi elt Rennsportgefühle auf den Pisten der 1956er Winterolympiade, die alljährlich Austragungsort der Damenweltcup-Rennen sind.

Die Seilbahn ´´Freccia nel Cielo´ fährt vom Zentrum nach Ra Valles bis auf 2500m, wo den ganzen Winter über perfekte Schneeverhältnisse gewährleistet sind.

In Socrepes ist zur Freude aller Snowboarder und Freestyler ein brandneuer Snow Park realisiert worden.

The Lagazuoi - 5 Torri area is connected to Tofana by a free-of-charge ski bus.

Thanks to a new connecting chairli , skiers can take the tour around Mount Averau and access the cable car to the summit of Mount Lagazuoi (2800m). This is the starting point of the Armentarola, the longest and most scenic ski run in the Dolomites.

The entire area is characterized by panoramic slopes with breathtaking views of the unique 5- Torri, the Marmolada, and all the most impressive Dolomite peaks.

The area is also a starting point for the Great War Ski Tour, r which takes skiers to Badia, Arabba, Marmolada and Cive a.

Das Schigebiet Lagazuoi 5 Torri ist durch einen kostenlosen Skibus mit den Tofane verbunden.

Dank eines neuen Sesselli s kann man den Averau umfahren und auf Skiern die Seilbahn erreichen, die bis auf den Gipfel des Lagazuoi führt. Hier, in 2800m Höhe, beginnt die Piste Armentarola, die längste Piste der Dolomiten.

Das gesamte Gebiet bietet atemberaubende Panoramapisten mit Blick auf die einzigartigen 5 Torri, auf die Marmolata und auf die imposantesten Bergmassive der Dolomiten.

Cortina is Italy’s cradle of skiing and it all started in 1933 with the decision by the FISI to establish the first national ski school in the Ampezzo valley. Thus a new profession was born, namely that of the ski instructor; a true snow professional and custodian of the knowledge and techniques necessary to transform a snow-covered slope into an unforge able experience.

The many popular themed ski tours offer fascinating experiences. The most famous are the legendary Olympia ski tour, the scenic tour of the Great War, offering nature and history in equal measure, and the classic Sellaronda, one of the world’s most spectacular tours, covering 26km of piste around the Sella massif.

Die-hard snowboarders can put their skills to the test with rails, jumps and kickers in the brand new CORTINA SNOWPARK, located on the San Zan piste in the Socrepes area of Tofana. Entirely dedicated to snowboarders and freestyle skiers, the snowpark is divided into two areas with different levels of difficulty, and can be reached by a four-seater chairli .

Highly technical routes suitable for experienced skiers can be found on the slopes of Passo Tre Croci.

Curling and the Queen of the Dolomites; a winning combination for more than a hundred years. The sport was practiced in Cortina already at the beginning of the previous century and grew in popularity on the icy tracks of the prestigious hotels of Cortina. In 2010 Cortina hosted the Capital One Men’s Curling Championships. Cortina Curling Centre, which is open throughout the winter season, organizes group lessons with qualified instructors and athletes from the national team.

The museums of the Regole d’Ampezzo can be visited at the Casa delle Regole and at the new multi-purpose Alexander Girardi Hall.

The Rinaldo Zardini Paleontological Museum exhibits one of the most significant collections of fossils that exists today, including shells of marine invertebrates, corals, sponges and fossils. The exhibits bear witness to the geological evolution of the Ampezzo valley.

The Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Art houses a collection of about 800 important works, including De Pisis, Sironi, de Chirico, Carrà, Gu uso and Morandi.

Themed exhibitions are organized throughout the year.

The Regole d’Ampezzo Etnographic Museum houses a collection of antique tools and cultural artefacts, telling the story of the Ampezzan people.

This is also the time for the Corsa dei Sestiere, the traditional winter sport competition between the six historic areas of Cortina. Highlights include a crosscountry relay race in traditional dress.

HOW TO GET THERE

By air The nearest airports are: Venice Marco Polo, 160km Treviso Canova, 130km Verona Catullo, 260km By train The nearest railway station is Calalzo di Cadore, 35km from Cortina.

The Venice-Mestre railway station is two hours from Cortina, with good connections to Cortina thanks to the Cortina Express transfer service.

Bus transfers from airports and railways Cortina Express connects Cortina d’Am-

pezzo with Venice’s Marco Polo Airport and Venice-Mestre railway station. The route, which takes just over two hours on comfortable coaches, offer excellent train and flights connections. In high season there are also services to Treviso airport, Rovigo, Ferrara and Bologna. Pets welcome on-board.

By car Route SS51 runs through Cortina in a northsouth direction, and the 48bis of the Dolomites passes through it from east to west. The motorway exits for Cortina are A27-Belluno from the south (72 km) and A22-Bressanone from the north (87 km).

Mit dem Flugzeug Die nächstgelegenen Flughäfen sind: Venedig, Flughafen Marco Polo 160 km Treviso, Flughafen Canova 130 Km Mit dem Zug Der nächstgelegene Bahnhof ist Calalzo di Cadore, 35km von Cortina entfernt.

Vom Bahnhof Venedig-Mestre erreicht man mit dem bequemen Transfer ‘Cortina Express‘ Cortina d‘Ampezzo in etwa zwei Stunden.

Bustransfer vom Flughafen und vom Bahnhof Mit modernen und komfortablen Bussen verbindet Cortina Express mehrmals täglich Cortina d’Ampezzo mit dem Flughafen Marco Polo in Venedig und mit dem Bahnhof Venezia-Mestre.

Der Anschluss mit den wichtigsten Flügen und Zügen ist optimal, die Transferfahrt dauert etwa 2 Stunden. In der Hochsaison fährt Cortina Express auch zum Flughafen in Treviso, nach Rovigo, Ferrara und Bologna.

Auch Haustiere sind an Bord willkommen.

Mit dem Auto Cortina wird von der so genannten „Alemagna“, der Staatsstraße Nr. 51 von Norden nach Süden und von der Staatsstraße der Dolomiten „48bis“ in Richtung Ost-West durchquert.

Die Autobahnausfahrten für Cortina sind A 27 – Belluno im Süden (72 km) und A 22 – Brixen im Norden (87 km).

Mit dem Hubschrauber Cortina d’Ampezzo im Fluge erreichen: mit dem Hubschrauber-Transfer von und zum Heliport Fiames.

STADTVERKEHR
