Humanity’s Unrighteousness and Need for the Gospel

This page is provided for those who might wish to discuss the lesson with household members. The Scripture, principle, and questions for each day correlate with the Scripture and questions in the BSF lesson for this week. Each week the study for Day 1 is a review based on the previous week’s study. Days 2 through 6 cover the new material. The first question for each day’s Scripture reading is designed to be used as a discussion question. The second question may be used for discussion or for individual application.

Day 1: Review of Romans: The World’s Most Influential Letter Main Truth: The Bible is true – every word, for all people, for all time. Principles: •

The Bible reveals the truth about Jesus Christ and ourselves.

• Life is too short to waste it on things that do not last. • Our problem is sin, but God has provided the solution for it. Question:

How will you ask God to change you as you study Romans this year?

Days 2-6: Humanity’s Unrighteousness and Need for the Gospel Day 2: Read Romans 1:1-7. God called Paul to present the gospel to the Gentiles. How did Paul describe himself in verses 1, 2 and 5? Gospel means “good news.” What good news about the Lord Jesus do you learn from these verses?

Day 3: Read Romans 1:8-10. Paul thanked God for the Christians in Rome. For what was Paul grateful? For which believers could you thank God today? Take time now to do so.

Day 4: Read Romans 1:11-15. Paul longed to see the Christians in Rome. Why did Paul want to see the Roman Christians? Who are some people who want you to grow in your faith? What is your response to them?

Day 5: Read Romans 1:16-17. Paul was not ashamed of the gospel. Give the reasons Paul was not ashamed of the gospel. How could these verses help you if you are tempted to be ashamed of the gospel?

Day 6: Review Romans 1:1-17. The gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to all who believe. What have you learned about God in this week’s study? How could you make this truth a part of your life?
