No Excuses for Anyone

Home Discussion Page Romans

This page is provided for those who might wish to discuss the lesson with household members. The Scripture, principle, and questions for each day correlate with the Scripture and questions in the BSF lesson for this week. Each week the study for Day 1 is a review based on the previous week’s study. Days 2 through 6 cover the new material. The first question for each day’s Scripture reading is designed to be used as a discussion question. The second question may be used for discussion or for individual application.

Day 1: Review of Romans 1:18-31: God’s Wrath against Sinful Humanity Main Truth:

Nothing is more important than how you respond to the truth about God.

Principles:

Rejecting the truth about God has consequences now and eternally.

Worship of anything or anyone but God destroys you.

Jesus Christ is humanity’s only hope.

Question:

What new thoughts do you have about God’s wrath?

Days 2-6: No Excuses for Anyone Day 2:

Read Romans 2:1-4. God bases His judgment on truth. What does it mean to pass judgment, and how does this differ from knowing and teaching God’s standards? How has God shown kindness toward you when you have sinned?

Day 3:

Read Romans 2:5-16. Every person’s life shows their heart attitude toward God. Discuss how obedience does not save anyone, but saving faith puts sinful people on the path of obedience. From verses 7-11, what does the direction of your life reveal about your heart attitude toward God?

Day 4:

Read Romans 2:17-24. God gave the Jews His commandments. What are some ways Christians fail to do what they teach and what Jesus says? How will you ask God to help you live according to His ways this week?

Day 5:

Read Romans 2:25-29. Circumcision and other spiritual advantages did not make the Jews’ hearts right before God. What are some Christian ceremonies that represent their relationship with God? What outward actions may people who go to church take part in even though their hearts are not right before God?

Day 6:

Review Romans 2:1-29. God will judge every thought, word and deed through Jesus Christ. What have you learned about God in this week’s study? How could you make this truth a part of your life?
