BSF® Lesson 11
Home Discussion Page Romans
This page is provided for those who might wish to discuss the lesson with household members. The Scripture, principle, and questions for each day correlate with the Scripture and questions in the BSF lesson for this week. Each week the study for Day 1 is a review based on the previous week’s study. Days 2 through 6 cover the new material. The first question for each day’s Scripture reading is designed to be used as a discussion question. The second question may be used for discussion or for individual application.
Day 1: Review of Romans 6:1-11: Death to Sin Main Truth: Believers’ new identity in Christ gives them a completely new relationship to sin Principles: •
A new identity in Christ ensures personal transformation.
•
Union with Christ gives all believers new power to live a holy life.
•
Growth in holiness begins with a new mindset that believes God.
Question: What does Christ’s death, burial and resurrection mean for your life now?
Days 2-6: No Way to Go but Forward Day 2: Read Romans 6:12-14. Paul gave four commands about the body. What two things does Paul say you should not do, and what two things does he say you should do? Give some specific examples of how you could offer your mind, eyes, ears, hands, feet and tongue to God.
Day 3: Read Romans 6:15-16. Paul contrasted slaves to sin and slaves to righteousness. Describe the life of a slave. (Look in a dictionary for help.) Would you describe yourself now as a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness? Why?
Day 4: Read Romans 6:17-18. Paul thanked God for setting believers free from sin to obey Him from the heart. What is the difference between wholehearted and halfhearted obedience? Where do you need God’s help to wholeheartedly obey Him and others in your life?
Day 5: Read Romans 6:19-23. Paul explained the benefits of being slaves to God. Talk about the freedom of being who God wants you to be and doing what God wants you to do. Have you received God’s gift of eternal life?
Day 6:
Review Romans 6:12-23. Sin leads to death for its slaves, but God gives life. What have you learned about God in this week’s study? How could you make this truth a part of your life?
