Home Discussion Page Romans

This page is provided for those who might wish to discuss the lesson with household members. The Scripture, principle, and questions for each day correlate with the Scripture and questions in the BSF lesson for this week. Each week the study for Day 1 is a review based on the previous week’s study. Days 2 through 6 cover the new material. The first question for each day’s Scripture reading is designed to be used as a discussion question. The second question may be used for discussion or for individual application.

Day 1: Review of Romans 6:12-23: No Way to Go but Forward Main Truth: God’s grace enables obedience, which leads to holiness. Principles: •

God’s grace enables obedience.

Your obedience reveals your allegiance.

A righteous lifestyle is the fruit of true freedom.

Question: How did you show true freedom this week?

Days 2-6: Law and Gospel Day 2: Read Romans 7:1-6. Jesus’ death frees believers from the law’s power to condemn. Because believers are free from the law, to whom do they now belong? What does it mean to bear fruit for God? (See also Galatians 5:22-23.)

Day 3: Read Romans 7:7-13. The law reveals sin and our sinfulness. What does the law do for believers? How has sin deceived you and harmed your mind, emotions or body?

Day 4: Read Romans 7:14-20. The law cannot deliver us from sin’s power over us. When have you felt as Paul did in these verses? What bad things do you do that you do not want to do? What good things do you not do that you really want to do?

Day 5: Read Romans 7:21-25. The desire to do good cannot change our inner tendency toward evil. What does “wretched” mean and how has your sin made you feel wretched? Who is the only one who can rescue anyone from sin’s power? What words will you use to thank God for sending His Son?

Day 6:

Review Romans 7:1-25. God delivers us from the power of sin through Jesus Christ. What have you learned about God in this week’s study? How could you make this truth a part of your life?
