row crop plantings and winter wheat production. Corn and soybeans plantings are at a record slow pace, with the likelihood that millions of acres won’t get planted at all. Winter wheat across the Midwest and plains is experiencing high disease issues due to warm and moist conditions. Harvest is stalled in the south, leading to more quality problems and expected yield loss as well. Cattle were lower, led by feeders. A new tariff against Mexico created major selling in the feeder cattle market on fears that they would retaliate with their own trade restrictions. Calves, beef and corn are just a few of the major ag products that the US sells to Mexico. Cash markets stabilized and actually showed some strength for the first time in weeks. Energies and the Dow were pressured on concerns of escalating trade wars, not only the breakdown of talks with China but now Mexico and fears that the new North America trade agreement will fall apart as well. Evidence of slowing economic growth here in the US is putting traders on alert, wary that the US economy will move the way of slowing global growth.

Enjoying Everyday Life Joyce Meyer
Moving Forward, Not Stuck in the Past Have you ever felt like you’ve been stuck in the same place for so long it seems like you are going around the same mountain over and over again? I have. For years I wasted a lot of time stuck in the same place— blaming others, feeling sorry for myself, complaining, and the list goes on… I was miserable until I discovered the truth about the life I could have through my relationship with Christ. I was in my late thirties when my eyes were opened to truth in John 10:10 that showed me I wasn’t living the good, peaceful, joy-filled life Jesus died for me to have. The problem was I had a very negative mindset because of the abuse I had experienced throughout my childhood. God showed me that it was holding me back and keeping me from dealing with areas of life that He wanted to heal and restore. I was stuck in the mindset of, “My future is based on my past and my present.” But God really wanted me to have a hopeful attitude of expectation that said, “I’m going to look ahead because something good is going to happen to me!” Don’t Let Your Past Hold You Back The Bible says in Isaiah 43:18-19: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (NIV). Without a doubt, holding on to your past will keep you from looking forward to your future. And sometimes it may even feel like you are being pulled in two different directions because God is trying to pull you forward toward a new thing and you’re trying to hold on to something that’s behind you. The Israelites did not want to let go of their past either. They stayed in the wilderness for 40 years because they compared everything to their past. In fact, they complained to Moses that they wanted to go back to Egypt and return to a life of slavery because that’s what they knew. But God wanted them to move forward to the Promised Land a land flowing with milk and honey (see Exodus 13:5). They just couldn’t get past their past. Focusing on the Future We’ve got to get a vision—one that goes beyond what we’ve already seen and experienced—if we want to see change happen in our life. The apostle Paul says it like this in Philippians 3:13, “...But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead…” God has good things planned for us, no matter what has happened in our past. He is looking and longing for someone who’s waiting for Him to be good to them. God wants to be good to you, but you have to be expecting Him to move in your life! I’ve gotten into a habit of regularly saying, “God is good, and something good is going to happen to me today!” I encourage you to do the same.

Setting Your Mind in the Right Direction God can help you set your mind in the right direction. The Bible tells us to set our mind and keep it set on things above, not earthly things (see Colossians 3:2). My husband, Dave, is a great example of what it means to set your mind. Dave loves to play golf, so I asked him one day, “How’s it going to be for you if you ever get to the point where you can’t play golf?” And he said, “I’ve already thought about that and I’ve just made up my mind I can be happy anyway.” Setting our mind and keeping it set means we keep our focus on where we want to go, not on where we have been or even where we are right now. God wants us to have a vision for our life and trust Him to help us get there. Remember, God has a good plan for you and He wants to see you live out that plan. But spending too much time looking back or thinking about what’s happening in your life right now can keep you stuck in the past and not experiencing all that He has for you. Your future has no room in it for the past. So, don't get stuck in the past. Let go of what lies behind and press into the great future God has planned for you. I can promise you: God is with you. He wants to lead you, strengthen you, and help you every step of the way! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more on this topic, order Joyce’s four-CD series Sit, Stand, Walk, Run. DAVE SAYS:
Who Is Dave Ramsey? Dave Ramsey is a personal money management expert, popular national radio personality and the author of three New York Times bestsellers – The Total Money Makeover, Financial Peace Revisited and More Than Enough. In them, Ramsey exemplifies his life’s work of teaching others how to be financially responsible, so they can acquire enough wealth to take care of loved ones, live prosperously into old age, and give generously to others.
DEAR DAVE, My husband and I are active duty military stationed outside Washington, D.C. We’re completely debt-free and have finished your entire Baby Steps plan, but last month our paid-for rental house in Florida burned down. It was empty at the time, so no one was hurt, and we got a check from the insurance company for $165,000. We both plan to serve another nine years, and we know we could be moved around during that time. We love that area in Florida, though, and want to go back there one day. Do you think we should use the money to buy another place and rent it out until we’re ready to retire from the military? -Carrie DEAR CARRIE, Wow! I am so proud of you guys. You’re at the point where you’re living—and giving—like no one else. You have achieved financial peace! Now, I love real estate. But it’s always a good idea to have your rental property near you. I wouldn’t buy a place in Florida if I lived in Washington, D.C., and there was a chance I could be re-assigned pretty much anywhere in the world. I’d just scrape the lot where the rental house was, sell it, and invest that cash along with the insurance money. Long distance landlording is really tough. It’s stressful, and it adds an even bigger element of risk to the rental property equation. It’s not something I generally recommend. If it’s something you guys want to take a chance on, though, you’re certainly in the financial position to do it. Just remember to pay cash for the whole thing, and if possible, try to get a location where you’d both like to end up when your military careers are over. Congratulations, you two! And thank you for your service to our country. -Dave * Dave Ramsey is CEO of Ramsey Solutions. He has authored seven best-selling books, including The Total Money Makeover. The Dave Ramsey Show is heard by more than 13 million listeners each week on 585 radio stations and multiple digital platforms. Follow Dave on the web at daveramsey.com and on Twitter at @DaveRamsey.

Ranching For Profit Blog - Dave Pratt Healthy Land, Happy Families and Profitable Businesses www.ranchingforprofit.com
Traveling Without A Compass In Alice in Wonder land, Alice asks the Cheshire Cat, “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” The Cat responds, “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.” Alice tells him, “I don’t much care where.” To which the cat responds, “Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.” That’s one smart cat, but his observation that we ought to have a destination in mind before we map our journey is just common sense. Common sense uncommonly applied. To determine how to build a successful business you might think it’s enough to calculate gross margins, determine the capital requirements, and focus on other economic and financial indicators. It isn’t. While these things are important, they are irrelevant until we’ve defined what success means. This involves more than setting a profit target. We need to describe the results we want to create economically, ecologically and personally. I recently had a conversation with a rancher looking for advice. He was debating whether he should lease more land, invest in fencing and water development to increase the capacity of what he already had, change enterprises, move to another region, or pursue any of a half dozen other strategies he’d been thinking about. When I asked him which option would move him toward his goals faster, he was stumped. It was an impossible question to answer because he hadn’t identified his goals. In The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey’s second habit is Begin With The End In Mind. A valuable lesson from Stephen, or a really smart cat.
