Kingsland News April 2014 Dear Parishioners, Whenever I want to have a chat with the children, I put them in the car and drive somewhere. By the time we have arrived there has been time to pass pleasantries, grapple with the issue at hand, and return to more normal conversation again. A car journey or a walk shared work equally well and it is fitting that we have a walk planned on Good Friday - a walk with a cross at Leinthall Earles Church. We shall meet at 10.30am at the church there. There will be a story for the children and a hymn and then we shall make our way carrying the cross up the hill behind the church, stopping from time to time to pray and sing, until we reach the place where the cross is put and left, and then we return down the hill for hot cross bun and a warm drink. It helps to walk and talk on this day,. the day when we remember the death of Jesus on a cross, and strangely enough it is a good thing

to do. Many people want to miss out on Good Friday and jump straight to Easter Sunday, but it is something you have to do........ so come and see. So I'll cherish that Old Rugged Cross, till my trophies at last I lay down. I'll cherish the Old Rugged Cross and exchange it some day for a Crown. Wear sensible shoes and clothes......... it's not far ‌.but all the same. All ages are welcome. The other thing that helps us go beneath the surface is music and Kingsland Choir (and friends) are busy rehearsing ‘Crucifixion’ by John Stainer. It is a piece that many people value and it is being sung on Palm Sunday evening (13th April) in Kingsland Church at 6.30pm. It is not only a spectator event as there are places to join in with hymns.
