Kingsland News August 2014 What a Summer: opera comes to Kingsland, a stunning Jungle Book production by the school, the launch of a new guide book for the church by Trish Pothecary, the Teme Valley Young Farmers’ Choir go to the national finals and come 2nd and much more! Everyone keeps saying to me that they are making the most of the weather because it is bound to stop soon, but so far it hasn’t. I’m praying that it will continue until the end of my holiday in August when I’m off camping with my family. I don’t much like camping in the rain, so I hope even you farmers will say a prayer for me? After all you need me from time to time! I hope you will all find time to recharge your batteries sometime this Summer/early Autumn or when the harvest is in. It is necessary to function properly. I always find a trip to the sea, or the top of a hill does the job (mountains are really too much for me), then everything fits back into place and I realise how small I am in the grand scheme of things. A place without a telephone or computer contact is the best way
to start to unwind, and I know I’m truly away when I take off my watch. As teachers and families grab holiday time and leave the routine of the school day, tourists from other parts of the country travel to Herefordshire and Kingsland to find beauty and interest. We have a rich history here and we need to work out how we impart what we know, that visitors might leave here refreshed and with a thirst for more knowledge about the Mortimers etc and wanting to come back and find out more! In the midst of the Summer, on the weekend of August 17th, there will be an evening of Young Farmers’ Entertainment, a Ploughman’s Platter and Pimms, good company, and rolling countryside as the church and Young farmers join forces for one night only!
