Kingsland News July 2015 Dear Parishioners, What a busy, exciting and worthwhile few weeks it has been! The rogation service hidden away in the hills behind Aymestrey reminded us of the many farms tucked away working to bring us food for the table and our prayers were asked for all those who tend the land and for the land and the animals – for seasonable weather (enough rain at the right time) and for the food chain (the links between the farmers, suppliers and supermarkets especially). We had a special service gathering together at Eardisland for Christian Aid where we prayed for and looked at the work of those who seek to bring aid and help to those across the world in poverty, strife and places where disaster has struck. £480 was raised from the service and lunch that followed – thank you to all those who came. 12,000 teddies were sent on their way to Syria through the inspiration of Ellie Target and the local team she gathered to pack and mend (thank you Edna) and I

had the privilege of blessing the packed truck as it was sent on its way (on behalf of all the churches across the diocese who had contributed). In Kingsland Church itself we welcomed members and vicars from the churches of the Leominster Deanery to a special Deanery service and the Kingsland Choir who faithfully lead our worship each week were on splendid form to inspire us on this occasion. Thank you! And then the church was full for the service of confirmation as 13 persons, young and not quite so young were confirmed by the Bishop of Ludlow. They, themselves, made the promises made on their behalf when they were baptised when very young, and the bishop laid hands on them and asked for God’s Holy Spirit to be with them all their days. On the back of all this we thank Vicky Sowerbutts from the Bell House for hosting the coffee morning that raised more than £340 for church funds. As I write this preparations are in hand for the
