Kinté Taylor P R O P O S A L New School Website Savannah Arts Academy is a specialty-programs high school dedicated to the visual and performing arts, and is part of the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. The school offers a 4-year specialized and rigorous arts program which includes opportunities for students to major in communication arts, dance, theatre, visual arts, piano, chorus, band or orchestra. The mission of SAA is to develop graduates who exemplify academic and artistic excellence. With high academic standards and dedication to their artistic field of study, students not only discover and develop their artistic talents, but are adequately prepared for future careers and college experiences. Savannah Arts Academy earned the title of a “National Blue Ribbon School” in 06-07, GA “School of Excellence” 06-09, and received the GA “Platinum Award” in 06-09 along with the Governor’s Cup in 05-07. US News and World Report Magazine named SAA as a Silver Award winning school for two years, placing us in the top 500 schools in the nation (Dec. 07, 08 & 09). SAA has had a 100% pass rate on all parts of the Georgia High School Graduation Test 06, 07 & 08 and for the past two years, Connect Savannah named SAA “Best High School.” SAA was named GA SAT Champs with a presentation from Sonny Purdue in 08 & 09.

Big changes are set to happen at Savannah Arts Academy. We the hiring of a new principal by then name of Gif Lockley, Savannah Arts is poised to become a school that goes from great to phenomenal. In my two years at the school, there have been three principals. While the two previous principals were good, they both came from an academic teaching background. We now have a principal that has and arts background. For a number of years SAA has been a product of its own success, being the top public high school in Savannah, everyone outside of the faculty and staff felt we needed support and the school has grown stagnant. We now have a person who willing to go to bat for the arts and the school to propel us to where we need to be. With all the changes that are set to occur, Savannah Arts Academy needs to update the look of its website to coincide with the new look and feel of the school. The website will be used to gain information about the fine arts departments and showcase the exceptional quality of work produced by the students.

The overall reacttion to the site was very positive. Everyone found it easy to navigate and find what they were looking for. Some suggestions were made. 1. More color 2. Larger Text 3. More creative way to display the gallery 4. do not use the same image on different pages
