The Greatest Love Story Of All Time

You hear so many stories about love, Romeo and Juliet, the romantic books by Nicholas Sparks, Cleopatra and Mark Antony. There are so many but sometimes we forget about the Greatest Love Story that we all play a part in. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believes in him shall not parish but have ever lasting life.” John 3:16 God Loves us all so much that he sent his own son to die for us, to save us from our own selfish sins. Who are we to deserve such a powerful love ? I myself do not personally like the throw the “L” word around. I find it to be a very important word, that is very misused now a days. But I also have a love for everyone I meet or come into contact with because my first thought is “I wonder if they know Gods love? Are they saved?” Its a terrible thought to look at someone and it doesn’t matter whom they are, you could have just meet them or passed them on the street while driving by, or even a close family member and think that they could spend eternity in Hell. No one and I mean NO ONE should have to suffer like that, when it only takes one of us to tell them about the love story they can be a part of. My job as a Christian is to spread Gods word, to build his love story. With so much hate in the world we should be that one light to another person and it could move mountains. So this Valentines Day when out buying those cards, flowers, and chocolates maybe pick one person to be your Godly Valentine and share Gods love story with them.

Community Input Meeting Update

Happy Go Lucky Plants FINALLY has a Flower Shop in Randleman

Several folks in Liberty know Julie and her Happy Go Lucky Plants. Her family originally hail from good ‘ol Kimesville. She frequently cruises into Liberty to visit with our folk and get her supplies here. She says “I find any excuse to come back home for a bit.” On one of her visits to Liberty last year, Julie met and became friends with one of Liberty’s shop keepers, Mama Carol of Awesome Finds. Julie says Carol has been a fine mentor and good sounding board of advice for our Julie.

While talking with Julie, we found out a few interes_ng morsels of informa_on like she started her business with her S_mulus Checks. Yes, that’s right! Something good did come from our tax dollars.

She leC working at a local farm office (the same year COVID hit) to be home, close to her aging parents, selling plants, trees and shrubs. A lifle country church next door to her home let her work out of their fellowship hall and on their grounds. She set-up at markets when she could and adver_sed on Facebook.

Julie has spent two years working out of the church and has now, with the money she’s saved, opened a Flower Shop in Randleman. She makes fantas_c bouquets, memorial arrangements and in the Spring will be selling her vegetable trays and a few select plants, trees and shrubs. She sources her materials locally and has a giC shop completely stocked with local vendors like Longleaf Hemp (farmed in Randolph and Chatham Coun_es), CMB Treasures (Pleasant Garden) and the Equivalent Exchange (Randolph County)

The Flower Shop opened its door January 10th and appears to do be doing very well indeed. If you have a minute, pop-in to introduce yourself and say ‘hello’. She is always on the look-out for other home-folk from Liberty. We want to wish Happy Go Lucky Plants all the best from everyone back home. The Flower Shop is located at 329 S. Capital Campaign For PGHS Remodeled Weight Room

Our Weight Room at PGHS is 15 years old and in dire need of an upgrade. The equipment and space is worn and does not accurately represent the quality of our athle_c and weight-liCing educa_onal programs. PGHS Boosters is launching a Capital Campaign to raise the funds required to make this remodel become a reality. Please help us reach our goal of $175,000.

Your dona_on will help all of our students that are enrolled in our weight training classes as well as provide our student-athletes a state-of the art facility in which they can train for their chosen sport(s).

Our Fruity Pickin' Storytime is our favorite Orchard program, and we can't wait to welcome our kiddos back to the Orchard this summer for an interactive, educational and engaging adventure. Our first storytime begins Monday, June 12th, and they run all the way through November.

Assistant Public Works Director Kevin Coble was honored at the Town Employee Christmas Lunch today for twenty five years of service. He is always the first in if there is a water or sewer main break and we are lucky to have him.

Liberty Receives NC Commerce Grant

The Town of Liberty was awarded a $49,999 planning grant from NC Commerce. The grant will assist the Town as they conduct a planning and feasibility study to renovate a 3,000 square foot space on the 2nd floor of the Liberty Heritage Museum. The Town is planning to transform the space in to a community meeting and educational space.

The Liberty Chamber is excited for another great year in 2023! Membership renewals have been sent out via mail and are available on our website! Payments are due upon receipt. This year we will be introducing a new website and member only platform through Growth Zone. In the upcoming weeks please be on the lookout for emails related to how Growth zone works and how to set up your login info! This will be a great tool for your business to utilize! You will be able to update your own website listing, create job openings, post events, sales, workshops, etc to the community calendar, communicate with other members, register for events, have direct access to important links, and so much more!

Reminder, if you would like to take advantage of our Digital Sign advertising, we are running a discount special. Buy a year of advertising by February 28th and receive a 20% discount! She will be remembered by her kindness and loving spirit Lily lost her longfought battle with an eating disorder on July 20, 2021. She was seventeen years old.

I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself to you all. I grew up just down the road from Liberty with weekly trips for Friday night dinners at Larry Moore’s place where we’d have wonderful food and listen to awesome music. Through his Friday night events I grew a love for this little town. A few years later I married my husband and we lived in Julian while Abbie was younger. Abbie, now 17, attended Nathaniel Greene Elementary.

A few years ago I chose to become a Herbalife Coach and help out in my coach’s club. This is where I met Logan. She and I worked the bar in that club for around a year. When she chose to open Spark at Forest Oaks I would grab a drink before my class. I teach a Monday night Zumba class just around the corner from the Forest Oaks location at Tabernacle UMC. I and a friend of mine would go and grab our pre-workout drinks and then go rock Zumba for the night. Once she moved it to Liberty I was unable to visit because of my work schedule. There was a huge difference though in my classes with the drink vrs no drink. I started looking for another daily job last summer just before Spark became available for new ownership and it could not have been a more perfect time.

My family and I took over Spark Nutrition in September and have grown to truly love our customers and this community. The love and support that this community has for each other is like no other town.

We chose to keep the name the same because it is actually very fitting for me. If you know much about red heads you know we can be a bit feisty. There is a new layout coming in the club with the hopes to create more space for community events and club gatherings. Most Friday nights we host an event here in the club while most Saturdays we host vendor events. For example, this February we will kick off the month with a family game night on the 3rd, Bingo Flight Night on the 17th, and we are working out the kinks to do a couples painting night on the 10th. Our Saturday hours are available for anyone who owns a small business with items to sell to set up for the day while we are running the club. We do one vendor at a time. If you are a small business owner and are interested in taking advantage of our vendor space please feel free to stop by and we can talk about setting you up a time. The other thing that we have started doing is opening the space up for local artists to share their work. Each artist hangs their work up for a whole month and the pieces are for sell to the public. If the items can safely hang on a wall and are not considered offensive in any way then they are welcome to hang on our walls. We are always looking for new artists, no age is too young nor too old. Again, if you are interested please stop by. I have a back ground in art and art is a big part of my life. I can, and do some times, get lost in talking about it for hours.

Through our club we help people reach their health goals. I am a coach that likes to help, support, and encourage you to reach your goals. I do not push you in to something that leaves you feeling like, “what did I just get in to”. Some of the ways that I help support you are through weight loss challenges, Body Transformation challenges, weekly check-ins, suggesting dietary changes, and walking the journey out with you every step of the way. With the job I was at before taking over Spark I gained a lot of weight and the stress trapped the weight on me. Which means that my.9did not have the privilege to visit Home Town Nutrition nor Spark after it moved to Liberty. However, what I can tell you is that I run my club to reach two main goals daily. First goal is always treat others with acceptance, respect, and integrity; if they buy something from me or not. And the second goal is for everyone to leave my place happier and more at peace than when they came in the door. I have experience with athletics and I trained to be an athletic trainer in High School and part of College, though I did not become licensed in it. I also have been a licensed Zumba instructor for Five years as of February 4th. Since becoming licensed I have also acquired Zumba Gold, Zumba Kid and Kid Jr, and Aqua Zumba licenses as well. All of those trainings taught me different types of knowledge that help with the Health and Wellness side of life. I bring multiple years of experience to the table with a passion and drive to take on the world and look forward to getting to know each of you on a personal level. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be on this journey with you

He served as a pastor in North Carolina Yearly Meeting and Indiana Yearly Meeting prior to his ministry as seminary dean. He regularly writes a blog (at jaymarshallonline.com) and recently published When the Spirit Calls. A new book is scheduled to be released in November 2023. Jay views retirement life as a " ministry of availability," meaning he has the freedom to say "yes" to the right opportunities as they arise.

Born in North Carolina and raised in the Plainfield Friends community of Chatham County, Jay now resides in Greens Fork, Indiana with his wife Judi, who is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.

Dear Vendors,

As we have heard many festivals across the state are raising their fees for vendors. Ramseur Eastern Randolph Chamber of Commerce plans to keep all fees the same as last year for all festivals. Your continue supports builds and helps us keep our fees low. We choose sponsorships and community donations to keep them low. Please note applications for the 4th Annual Ramseur Food Truck Festival are ready and 35th Annual “A Day on Main Street” Ramseur Fall Festival Applications are ready. We hope you will continue to support our festivals and events. Please remember to get your festival applications in early as we tend to fill up quick.

Our goal for this year Fall Festival is to provide a major concert at 7pm that evening along with fireworks. If you know of a company or someone with license to do Firework Show in North Carolina please send them our way. If we get enough community support and sponsorships, we will make this happen. RPC Awarded Grant by Randolph Arts Guild

Funds will help introduce mixed media art to area children

Randolph Partnership for Children (RPC) was awarded a $3000 grant by the Randolph Arts Guild to support early childhood educator training and children’s activities in preparation of Week of the Young Child’s 2023 Art Explosion.

“The Randolph Partnership for Children is honored to be the recipient of the Grassroots Grant for the second year in a row! We are so thankful for the opportunity to bring in three Master Artists who can share their Language of Art with our early educators, children, and families in Randolph County, “Early Childhood Specialist Kristy Umfleet said. “Art can unleash creativity and be healing when children have big feelings. It boosts their confidence and is beneficial to their mental health.”

Funds from this grant will be used to provide training by master teachers to local early childhood educators on how to incorporate mixed media materials into art activities with young children. Additionally, children from local centers who have applied and been approved will have the opportunity to go on a field trip to enjoy getting to create mixed media art in child-focused art environment.

The training and children’s activity will take place in February to lead up to Art Explosion during the Week of the Young Child, April 1-7. Week of the Young Child was first established by the National Association of Educators of Young Children in 1971 and the purpose is to focus attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. For many years, one of the ways RCP has celebrated the week through Art Explosion collecting, preparing, and displaying the artwork of local children in the shop windows of downtown Asheboro.

“During the Week of the Young Child, we celebrate our early childhood educators who teach, nurture and support our children,” said Governor Roy Cooper, during Week of the Young Child 2022. “Child care and early learning programs lay the foundation for future success.”

Research shows that art is an important outlet for children to build and strengthen skills needed for their future. As small hands manipulate crayons, chalk and paintbrushes they are learning the fine motor control needed for writing and daily self-care tasks. When children make a mental plan on what to create, they are practicing critical thinking. Math skills also benefit from art as the little artists begin to understand the concepts of size, shape, and making comparisons. Finally, as they describe their art to you the children are practicing communication and building their vocabulary

Funding for the grant was provided by the N. C. Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Grant program which provides per capita-based funding for arts programming to all North Carolina counties to ensure opportunities for citizens to experience the arts in their own communities.
