OFFICIAL RACE GUIDE

WELCOME LETTER Welcome to the 2019 Fidelity Investments

The Woodlands Marathon! On behalf of The Woodlands Marathon Management and the 2019 Race Committee, I would like to wish you a safe and enjoyable race. We are pleased to host the 8th Annual 2019 Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Marathon, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Half Marathon, The Woodlands 5k, Pathfinder Pediatrics Homecare 2k Fun Run and The Woodlands Marathon Relay. Marathon Week kicks off February 23rd with the 5k and 2k events. In 2018, thru the Beck & Masten GMC Charity Challenge, we surpassed the $1 million funds raised and donated mark. Over the course of the first 7 years, $1.2 million has been raised and donated to non-profits and volunteer organizations. Our courses are some of the fastest in the country and 2nd fastest in Texas in terms of average finishing times. In 2018 Rachel Cliff set the women’s Canadian Half Marathon record with a time of 1:10:58. We are eager for the runners to experience our fast, single loop full marathon course, which has earned the distinction of being one of the Top 25 courses in the United States and Canada to qualify runners for the Boston Marathon. Finishing along the waterway is one of the most beautiful finishes in the south. We take great pride in offering a world-class venue that allows runners from across the globe the opportunity to run their personal best. The event kicks off the Saturday prior with The Woodlands 5k and Pathfinder Pediatric 2k Fun Run supporting Kids Running For Kids. The Houston Methodist Health and Fitness Expo presented by The Woodlands Township will take place on March 1st at our new venue, the Cynthia Woods-Mitchell Pavilion Event Center. We finish on Saturday, March 2nd, with the running of the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay events. Please help us by thanking all of our sponsors by using and promoting their products and services whenever possible. A tremendous thanks to our local businesses, residents within The Woodlands, the Commissioner of Precinct Three of Montgomery County, The Woodlands Township, The Woodlands Convention & Visitors, The Woodlands Development Company, Howard Hughes Corporation, our sponsors, the race committee and of course our outstanding volunteers. Thank you to each and every one of you for making this a World Class Event!!!

On behalf of more than 115,000 residents and approximately 2,000 businesses in The Woodlands, Texas, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you here for The Woodlands Marathon. The Woodlands has long been known as a very active community, from prestigious running and biking events to all kinds of quality organized sports. People enjoy The Woodlands for over 200 miles of pathways, 143 parks and millions of square feet of shopping, dining, hospitality and entertainment. We sincerely hope you will enjoy our world-class community while you are here. Just some of the great opportunities to explore include catching a trolley for a ride around the Town Center, kayaking down The Woodlands WaterwayÂŽ into Lake Woodlands or, new since last year, taking a swan boat around the lake basin at Town Green Park. We wish you a safe and rewarding experience during your event in our world-renown town. To the athletes, your hard work and commitment in preparation is remarkable. To all the family, friends and fans, we welcome you to enjoy the event as well as the beautiful environment of The Woodlands! Sincerely,

Gordy Bunch Chairman of the Board The Woodlands Township

JOINING YOUR TEAM MEMBER AT THE FINISH LINE

The Woodlands Marathon Management will not be held responsible for runners being back to the finish line to meet their team members for run in. Each team should come up with their unique location to meet up after the finish. There are several locations to choose from. The Results Zone, the Beer Garden, Front of Town Green Park, or the Food & Beverage Tents, the back of the Marriott. Please discuss a meeting location with your team members before race day to make sure everyone is in agreement on the location. Relay Team Members may run in together. They will need to stay single file and wait until they are upon the finish line before coming together. Please be sure to respect the individual runners on the course.

WATER STOPS

MEDICAL AID

There will be medical aid stations on the course adjacent to the water stops starting at mile 2 of the marathon and mile 1.2 of the half marathon. For help during and after the race, look for medical stations adjacent to each fluid station and sports medicine volunteers wearing red medical T-shirts. Medical volunteers and supplies will be available at all aid stations. If you incur an injury or feel discomfort, stop at the nearest aid station. Most runners who seek medical attention are able to complete the race safely.
