FOUNDER AND CEO
Launched in 2017, The KNOW Women began as a way to bring more attention to dynamic women doing remarkable things in the Phoenix metro. We knew there were an outstanding number of women impacting the community and making big strides in their industries. Our goal was to get those women out from behind their computer screens and into the public eye. Thus, we created the KNOW Book, a carefully curated publication that would feature vision-led women in a glamorous and authentic style. As the momentum grew and we recognized the need for more, we launched our Collaborative around the women featured in our KNOW Book. Our mix & mingles soon ensued and we witnessed incredible things happening. We saw our women doing business with each other, creating friendships, supporting each other, collaborating on projects together, and so much more. What started as a fun project to spotlight women, has turned into a full-blown movement. The KNOW Women has expanded beyond its birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona; its aim is to launch in every major city across the United States and Canada.

Cathi is a born and raised California girl that has been in the beauty industry for over 35 years. Her journey began in the traditional sense with cosmetology school and two years of apprenticing at one of the top hair salons in Newport Beach. Her education coupled with her exceptional drive and passion for esthetics fostered the growth of her business in Newport Beach, California, which she then moved to Irvine and finally to Laguna Niguel. Brianna’s Barbie’s had the BEST hair! It was way back then that the hair industry grabbed a hold of her. After completing hair school in 2003 she craved to purchase every salon she ever worked at! In 2014 she finally succeeded in the purchase of Calgary’s landmark SwizzleSticks SalonSpa, located in heart of Kensington. In the past five years Brianna has completely renovated the facility and continues to lead the industry in Environmental Stewardship and in creating major opportunity for Community Collaboration. Just this April Brianna relocated Swizz’s two Bee hives to her very own backyard and is very excited to work with local businesses to create some very sweet and sticky partnerships! JACKIE PAYNTER DRYBAR Jackie Paynter knows a great hair day can take an okay mood to a “let’s take on the world” mood and as the Charlotte-area franchise owner of Drybar, she ensures every woman who walks out her doors is confident and ready to take on the world. After years spent behind the chair at local salons across Charlotte, she found her joy came from providing a meaningful experience with everyone who she cut or colored. IONE RUCKER JAMISON & ELLEN RUCKER SELLERS RUCKER ROOTS Ione Rucker Jamison and Ellen Rucker Sellers are sisters and the two youngest children of Dr. Douglas and Ruby Rucker. Ione and Ellen are natives of Lancaster, South Carolina. Ione is a proud alumna of Spelman College and received her master’s degree from Converse College. Ione is the founder of the Rucker Education Scholarship Fund. Ellen was a four year varsity cheerleader at the University of North CarolinaChapel Hill. After college, she attended Life University in Atlanta, GA where she received her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. The sisters launched Rucker Roots, a natural hair product company, in June 2014 and the company was featured on their reality TV show, Love Thy Sister on WeTV. The ladies use all natural, vegan ingredients from their father’s garden in South Carolina as inspiration for their hair products. The products have been featured on Good Morning America in 2018 and 2019, and was featured as Robin Roberts’ go to products in InStyle Magazine. Inge Handing is the founder and creator of Salon Inga’ brands: Salon Inga’ est. 1988 and The Barbershop by Salon Inga’ est. 2015 with daughter, Tanja Catoe (fellow Know member & Co-Owner of Crown & Mane). Inge came to the U.S. at the age of 22, and it wasn’t long after that where she decided to create a salon influenced largely by her training in Austria. The main goal was to provide Superior Customer Service. She does so by providing continuous education for herself and her staff which help to promote teamwork and consistency and serve as the foundation of her brands. SUZANNE ANDERSON & LISA MARQUES / BLUSHROCK As Canadian-born Americans of Portuguese descent, Lisa Marques and Suzanne Marques Anderson spent their childhoods braving the snows of Montreal and their adulthoods soaking in Florida’s sun. Danette was born obsessed with all things beauty, destined for a career in the industry. She worked multiple jobs as a makeup artist, and became a selftaught photographer to get her husband through grad school. She specializes in branding photography, and her unique style has made EnSepia Photography a nationally known name, with clients travelling from across the country to work with her. While working with hundreds of women (makeup and photos), Danette was constantly searching for the most important detail to the finished face: the perfect eyelashes! While on her never-ending search, she created her own reusable (up to 25 times) luxury lash line. Virago Babe is quickly becoming the go-to lash brand for thousands of women! Danette moved to Tampa two years ago from Richmond with her high school sweetheart and their four sons. She is a former Mrs. Virginia and was an ambassador for NILMDTS.
